I’m not sure if I would recommend this place or not… I might be a bit biased because my post-Christmas feelings around food are that nothing tastes really good because, well, I’m still full for days. I think for myself, I’d give it another chance. This place made me feel like a super awesome hipster. We ordered the frites, a charcuterie plate and a vegetable plate, the name of which escapes me. No need, really, to order bread with the charcuterie plate. The pickled beans and some of the samples on this plate were amazing… the house made cheese didn’t have much flavour though. I did wish there were a few more crustini with the plate, but life goes on. I ordered a drink and they didn’t have one ingredient for it, so the server suggested another drink instead. Which is cool but the substitution was $ 4 more and showed up on our bill that way.(I guess hipsters aren’t supposed to care about those things.) Service was amazing… our server was Lone-Ranger kind. I half expected him to come out and help us put tire chains on our car.

I’m reluctant to do a review because it’s not a large place but it has a large vibe! To many peeps find out about it and I may not get a seat lol. The people that work there are some of the most talented and friendly folks around. the food is great with good meat, cheese, beer, wine and much more this small venue has class.

Very sweet little place. Good beer selection. Oysters ended up giving us funny tummies… but that’s the risk you take. I would suggest having more accompanying the oysters than just champagne vinegar and a weird HP style sauce. Bartender gave us a wonderful referral for the next place we visited.

We went in for a late evening bite and drink. The mussels were very delicious, in a miso-cream-lemongrass succulent sauce, but I had to ask for bread(for which I had to pay) to sop up the salty deliciousness. That was a bit disappointing. The oysters were very mediocre, badly shucked, and two of the 6 we ordered were so tiny they should never have been served. The cheese options were simple and delightful and the wine was good(duh we are in Kelowna). Nice beer selection. The cod sliders were dry and the chutney-jam was just sugary and bland, very disappointing. The cocktails were fantastic, the mixologist knows what she’s doing. The service was friendly enough. The atmosphere is great, the layout is super cool. We will try it again for their 5 $ happy hour specials. Maybe this is more of a cocktail place than a place to eat.

We happened on this restaurant shortly after arriving in Kelowna and it is a must try. They had a happy hour special with beer and appetizers. The vegetable plate was delicious, and the turkey wings had a delicious blackberry sauce. The beer and wine were also delicious. I would definitely visit this restaurant again.

We ran into this place when we were actually looking for a different place. After a look at the menu we decided to stay… best Dinner decision during our time in Kelowna. The service is fantastic during the whole time and the waiters do not only start paying attentions when it comes to the payment. The food was excellent. We had the grilled vedgetables, the fries, the drunken goat cheese and the Tatar. It is very hard to pick a favorit and I am sure that the rest of the menu is outstanding as well!

Stopped in for a late-night cocktail and the friendly and knowledgeable barkeep recommended a local craft gin, which was good enough to order a double after the complimentary taste he gave me. His assistant was kindly attentive and talkative while I nursed it and took in the surroundings and crowd, both of which were nice and sophisticated w/o being sophisto. Didn’t order anything to eat, but will definitely return to sample some of the interesting tapas they offer. Casual, relaxing ambience w/good background music.

Best French fries I’ve ever had. Love the changing menu. This is my go to place in Kelowna. The ever changing menu continues to dazzle. The cocktails are pricey but a nice treat. Cannot wait for my next visit.

Hip and expensive, great drinks selection, fun«steampunk» style décor, friendly and attentive service… I liked a lot of things in this restaurant, you can see straight into the kitchen, and the chef is very creative — however experimentation is not always for the best… for example the piece of foie gras served«bleu»(basically raw inside, lightly seared outside) is NOT a good idea. Rest was awesome. Be prepared to pay more for the imported drinks and the«hip» factor.

Nothing special happening here. The food varies between not good and good. In the first category we found the risotto fritters(little flavour, small portion), the turkey wings(lukewarm, small portion) and two cheese selections(too cold, not much flavour, small portions). The oysters were good, as were the fries(fried a minute longer by request, much appreciated) and the popcorn in duck fat. What I didn’t like were the mug-like heavy glasses, used for the wine and beer. When I mentioned this to a server she said they«serve European style». .. ah, yes, of course. How foolish of me. There is a good selection of beers on tap and bottled. I picked a bottled one which turned out to be canned, a big difference. The server wanted to pour my beer for me, forgetting the European style. The place has a nice lively buzz. Music a bit too loud to have a real conversation. May be I am too old(67) for this place.

Great new tapas bar. The drinks were very well made and although we could have used a refill and been offered a water during our stay, the atmosphere made up for it. Very neatly designed interior and social, interactive bar top setting. The risotto bites were perfectly crispy and delightfully cheesy. The walnut and sundried tomato accompaniment was perfectly matched to the fritters and was borderline addicting. We decided on fresh raw oysters and opted for the black pearl, smaller and firmer variety. They were a tad bit fishy but had a great texture. They came with freshly grated horseradish but nothing acidic, such as wine vinegarette or lemon wedge…(We are accustomed to eating oysters in this fashion along with a drop or two of vodka in the shell) We did however squeeze some of our gin soaked line wedge into our second helping of oysters and were quite pleased with the flavour :) I am excited to try more of the menu upon our next visit!

Heard great things about this place prior to coming. Came in quarter to 10 at night & they had a limited menu, but everything including a side water(with cucumber I might add) is to die for. We ordered: — the portobello mushrooms — pomme frites — artisan loaf — popcorn They carried local beers. 100% will I come back. Service amazing. Bathrooms fantastic. A gem of a place, I wish more places were like this. Gourmet food for a «bar».

So, while on vacation to Kelowna(yes, in the dead of winter) we happened upon micro. What more can I say than a minuscule menu of delectable goodness and beers on tap that would make any beer snob think they’d died and found heaven. Especially with a pint of gold called«the Backhand of God». If we had a bar/pub. It’d be just like this. But I don’t know that it could be more perfect.

Really intimate and beautiful. Great selection of beer and wine that’s a bit out of the ordinary and the great bartenders will make up anything you like. Recommend a visit!

I was really excited for this place to open! Kelowna needs more places like it. That said, it’s new so I imagine it will take a bit of time to iron out the kinks. The tap list is pretty good– there’s a good selection of local and imported beers on draught, which I think rotates frequently. Unfortunately, when I visited it was mostly lagers(on a cold fall’s evening!). They might consider rotating within categories so that they always have a range of different styles available. Also, there is no beer list printed anywhere, so you are left to ask the server about a) selection(tap labels are only visible to a select few seats at the bar) and b) price(kinda awkward, but it’s nice to know how much your beer’s gonna be!). The wine list(10 wines, by the glass) is decent but there are no great deals to be had. As for mixed drinks… well, there’s no drink menu, per se– you just tell the bartender which spirit you want and s/he mixes something up for you. It’s a little unclear to me whether all creations are priced the same or whether the price is as much a surprise as the drink. Maybe someone can report back on that. Maybe some people like this approach, but I’m not sure if I’m sold! Now to the food– there are some decent snack items in the $ 4 – 7 range, but expect portions to be small, and nothing comes with bread except for the«bread» course, which by default includes a fancy dip. This despite the fact that it seemed like good bread would go well with many of the dishes on offer. Maybe they could offer extra orders of bread(sans dip) for $ 2 or something? Roasted shishito peppers weren’t especially flavourful. The cheese was good(taleggio), served with a cherry compote. Although the compote was served on the cheese board, beside the cheese(no dish) so the blob just kind of melted outward, making it hard to serve(especially with no spoon). When you enter micro, you’ll notice the food and wines written on a metal board at the back of the place, which is a long room dominated by the bar. There is no printed menu(at least not yet) so if you have a hard time seeing the menu you are out of luck. I know this isn’t easy, considering the rotating nature of the menu and drinks available, but even a chalkboard going down the long side of the bar would go some way towards making the menu visible to the majority of patrons. Service was average. We weren’t neglected, but could have used more frequent check-ins. The nature of the place(essentially one big bar) also makes it occasionally awkward to talk to your server, as a couple times we made eye contact with our server and started trying to talk, only to find that they were actually in the process of doing something else. All in all, we left feeling pretty satisfied with what we had drunk and eaten, but the sum of all the little things that weren’t quite right left us feeling slightly awkward about our evening at micro. The space is beautiful, though, and they seem to have good intentions, so let’s hope this place gets its act together and fulfills its promise!
