Ordered the spicy tingly beef. The beef was basically flavourless with the consistency of a chicken ball. There was absolutely no taste of any sort of seasoning let alone hot oil. It was basically a pile of slimy unidentifiable meat.

Best Chinese food in Kingston! Has great authentic food, but also amazing chicken balls. Great BBQ duck on rice, just like in Toronto or Montréal. Reasonable prices, quick service, plenty of free parking. How is this place not packed every night?

I’ve only ever ordered delivery from Kai’s. The food is decent but the americanized chinese dishes aren’t very good and if that’s the food you’re craving I’d suggest to check elsewhere. This is the place to get the chef’s speciality or the less americanized dishes. The customer service is great, the delivery guy was so friendly and I got a free egg roll and a bunch of fortune cookies in addition to my order. I will still order from here but only when I am craving specific dishes.

The owner, and his family are lovely people. Their cuisine even more so. The Devore is the sole reason I cannot give a 5 star review. In spite of the Devore, they still provide a warm and hospitable place to have a meal. They suit all tastes from my Shanghai bred partner, to my Jamaican spice loving Caucasian self. From spicy to simply savory, there it something to please all pallets. The value is also commendable.

I usually don’t do review, good restaurants usually speaks for itself. I only do review for bad places to warn people. I don’t know about the previous reviewers, they must be friends and family to give it that high of a rating. It’s the false reviews that brought me here. First the people, the only friendly guy that actually acknowledge my family when we walked in might be the owner or son. The rest looks like they’re constipated especially the women/cooks. It was a hot day and they had 2 floor fans running, I don’t know if the a/c was broken but I was sweating b’s. The waiter might be the grandson. This is where attention to details come in. We’re Asians, so this kid waiter brought us water and knives and forks(dafuq?) the constipated look must have rub off from the elders. We politely decline the water and asked for chopsticks instead and always say our please and thank you. Now on with the food. We ordered Singapore noodle, Spicy salted shrimp and General Tao’s tofu. Singapore was mediocre, the shrimp was battered with the flour they use for the chicken balls. It’s the same batter every Chinese Canadian Restaurant use for the White folks. As for Tao’s tofu, the little chunks of tofu was fried and drenched with the watered down sweet and sour sauce that’s used for the chicken balls(dafuq? again) we we’re far from home and hungry. I would have ordered dinner for 4 if I knew my food was going to be prepared like this. My kids usually eat everything but they couldn’t stomach the tofu. Kids ate most of the noodle since it was edible and it’s the only dish that taste like authentic Chinese food. I basically had to chew, hold my breath then swallow the food because it’s that bad. I left the place feeling angry that I had to pay to eat that stuff. My kids told me that it’s the worst Chinese food they ever had. So there’s nothing delightful about Kai’s Delight! I’m giving this place 1 star because of the friendly guy that greeted us when we walked in.

For years I have had to put up with Canadian Chinese food. Finally a place with a touch more authenticity. I always ask for the house special fried rice with NO soy sauce. That is a very N. American version, and it ruins the flavor. But this store does have to sell what it’s customers want. So glad I can order real fried rice. Occasionally the stir frys are a bit soupy. A touch more corn starch thickener would turn this review to a 5.

Yay, finally a decent Chinese restaurant in Kingston. Love this place(and I’m Chinese). They had tripe when they first opened(I was super excited), but sadly it has been taken off the menu due to its low popularity. Anyway, I digress. Authentic flavours in the«real» Chinese dishes, good prices and super friendly service. There’s also free parking in the back. The décor is so-so, but it’s clean — which for me — is the only thing that matters in the presence of deliciousness. I wouldn’t say it’s the best Chinese food I’ve ever tasted, but Kai’s definitely stand outs on top compared to the cornucopia of Chinese restaurant failures in Kingston. The Szechuan dishes are very yummy. I personally love the Ma Po Tofu. I also enjoyed the Won Ton in Spicy Hot sauce. I should also point out that rice and tea come for free here, unlike some of the other places in town that are obviously run by rip-off artists. I should caution those of you who plan to order Canadian Chinese Food here. Kai’s has chicken balls on the menu but they are awful. This doesn’t bother me as there is nothing Chinese about chicken balls. So, if you’re looking for a Chinese meal that Chinese people would actually order, then yes, Kai’s a great choice. If you’re looking for Chicken Balls and Egg Rolls, I’d go somewhere that specializes in «fake» Chinese food.
