i come here at least once a month. Their japanese food is not on par with some of the restaurants around in Kingston but their Korean food is pretty good! The sushi they serve here is almost fall apart sushi that isn’t the most fresh. For korean food, they give generous portions and do refills on side dishes. Side dishes change from time to time. Very traditional side dishes. Their soups are large and filling with plenty of meat. However, it is somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes you may get an OVERLOAD of meat and veggies in your soup and other times you will get just the right amount. which is good to say, since they dont go under the portion too much! They seem extremely unorganized. They have different servers every time I go. even when I go every week sometimes. The place is relatively clean. When it gets busy servers may be running around crazily and rejecting customers even when the restaurant is not even half full. For homecoming weekend(a VERYPOPULAR weekend, with great business potential) the restaurant only had two servers and was rejecting people with the restaurant half full. Service was also super slow, even though they weren’t full. I hope they make better changes when I come back for homecoming in future years! The place has also started advertising AYCE sushi and chinese food at night. One look at their AYCE menu and I could tell it wasn’t worth it at all. Although it is jsut under 20 $ before tax and tips, they offered mostly rolls and some appetizers. Also if you want to pay with credit or debit for AYCE there is an extra $ 2 charge. I will be back for Korean food! Conveniently located :)

This is the worse sushi restaurant I have ever tried. I ordered both Japanese and Korean dishes and neither of them was good. I was so hungry but the food still disappointed me. The food was not fresh. The price was costly. Never come back!!!

Niji is known for the extreme wait. I have been to a few Jap/Korean restaurants near campus and they all required excessive waiting so it might be a norm. The food at Niji is ok. Nothing impressive or bad. They changed chefs two years ago and the Korean food never tasted the same again. It taste like a white version of Korean food where all the spices are reduced. So I stopped ordering Korean food and only order Jap food now.

Decent sushi, with potential for for the future. For the price though, you’re better off with going to Sima as the quality is better.

First we sat down. Then we waited. We got our menus. We chose our dishes. Then we waited some more. The waitress took our dishes. Then we waited yet again. We received our dishes. We ate. Boy Korean food is spicy. Who knew? Rhetorical question. The waitress cleared our table and asked us if we wanted dessert. We said no. Then we waited once more. This was a particularly long wait. So I’ll write an extra line about it and leave two more blank ones. Then we got our bill. The waitress was really nice and hospitable and the service was pretty good minus the excessive waiting. The Korean broth dishes were WAY spicy. But at least the rice is free and plentiful! Sushi’s not bad. The Niji California is just the California + lettuce and sauce, not totally sure whether it’s worth the extra $ 2. Spicy salmon is good and NOT at all spicy after the Korean dishes. Is it weird that my favourite thing was the spice-dulling rice? They’re a new place, they’ve got kinks to work out, but it’s got potential.
