South East Community Care Access Centre

I came to Kingston Ontario this summer to spend time with a friend and his wife. He was recently diagnosed with a nasty disease. I have NEVER EVER seen so many nurses and psw’s so overweight and out of breath. They’re supposed to help him by changing his dressing, cleaning the feeding tube, and giving his meds. I would get down on my hands and knees to clean up after they left! His wife told me he risks infection if the environment wasn’t hygienic. The nurses didn’t seem to care. The psw’s were rough around the edges (we call them lowlife in Montréal). They’re deceptive, they do the minimum and leave, they stole from my friends wallet $ 20 and denied it, they poured the contents of his portable toilet into his sink, the same sink he washes his face and brushes his teeth at! I’m not a doctor, but I know there’s something wrong with that picture. The were rough, and couldn’t take suggestions without snapping back. He contacted his case worker at CCAC, a Diane Taylor. When she showed up she too was obese, out of breath, and during the meeting she was only interested in her forms! I doubt she even looked at him more than once. When he reluctantly complained about the psw’s, how they read him the riot act each time he needed something cleaned or moved, the case worker didn’t comment or offer a solution to this clearly distraught patient. The case worker wasn’t phased in the least. I found her, the nurses they sent and the psw’s, to be useless, self-​serving and completely engrossed in their union rights than with the patient without whom they would be looking for work. We often hear about having to lower our expectations and how there’s not enough funding for medical assistance and how the healthcare providers are overworked. Horsefeathers! They’re laziest «professionals» I have ever met. Useless would be an understatement. They don’t get that huge by working so hard! I much rather pay for a nurse I personally can hire and check out (and weigh!) than be subjected to those animals and lazy money chasers to look after me.
