Late at night after the posh upstairs Fairview restaurant closes the downstairs casual Glacier Saloon remains open to satisfy the hotel’s nightly hunger/thirst needs. The Château Deli is open 24 hrs but it doesn’t have a full service bar. The Glacier Saloon is your typical sports style pub, complete with lots of wood, TV’s, pool tables, and two authentic swing style saloon doors at its entrance. It’s actually quite large. One thing that struck me was how very dark it was inside. Unfortunately a lot of the cool décor gets lost in that darkness. Supposedly there’s a door to an outside patio but I didn’t see it. Food is OK. Menu is full of typical bar/pub items. I got the poutine skillet and it really hit the spot late at night. That’s a real«stick to your ribs» dish. If you order it with chili like I did then it can definitely feed two people. Bartenders were great. On the night I visited they weren’t very crowded so I got their undivided attention, along with some friendly bar banter. They let me try a few beer samples for free. Yup, it’s a little pricey, but with all the restaurants in the building being owned by the hotel, they can probably charge whatever they want and people would pay it. They have burgers which cost approximately 20 — 25 bucks. I’d like to think they are filling for that price, because like I said my poutine was very filing. Overall the saloon is a good place to kick back and relax with friends and family. It serves its purpose. For a more romantic or anniversary type diner the other restaurants in the hotel are better suited for that purpose.

In the basement to the Château Lake Louise sits a saloon with swinging doors, lots of wooden log rails and trim and of course country music. It’s really expensive. The food is O.K. It’s just not anything special except it’s the only thing open after 10:00 pm.

Grabbed a bite here on our first night staying in this beautiful hotel. It definitely has the saloon vibe going on. Swinging saloon doors when you go in. Lots of wood railings. Waiters wearing western style shirts. There is a dance floor but no dj in the booth tonight so no line dancing. Pretty quiet pub. You pay a little more for just so-so pub snacks. Greasy onion rings with store bought bbq sauce, small chicken wings that are a little dry and a lot salty and stale nachos smothered in a blob of once melted now solid Monterey jack cheese. I won’t go back again. There’s got to be better food than this in this town!

Gross. Just gross. Our poor waitress was so nice. But she couldn’t help the disgusting food coming out of the kitchen. I wretch thinking about it

Service is outstanding, but food is just alright. Ordered Prime Sirloin medium rare, but came up medium. Waitress said that’s kitchen standard for medium rare. So I changed it to rare instead. Well, next time you order steak and you want«medium rare» ask for rare instead.

Nice, large casual bar in the Château Lake Louise. Decided to check it out after skiing all day nearby at Lake Louise. It was cold and snowy outside, so we didn’t have a great view, but I can see how this would be a great spot for drinks and a casual dinner in the warm months. Had a couple really tasty beers and a delicious penne bolognese made with bison, elk, and venison. A friend ordered some chicken wings that were some of the best I’ve ever had! Definitely worth checking out if you’re nearby or staying in the hotel.

We came here for drinks after our conference. Head through the saloon doors and belly up to the bar or sit down and you will have a server serve you. Atmosphere is your typical ski bar in a more upscale setting. Makers Mark was $ 10.50 an ounce. A bit steep but this is the Château LL. We ordered some wings, fries plus calimari and nachos. The nachos were the highlight and served in a generous cast iron pan. Bountiful with cheese, peppers and tomatoes. I’d highly recommend them again. The Glacier Saloon is a decent choice if you are not interested in venturing far. Keep in mind LL has somewhat limited options.

The Saloon is down stairs of the Fairmont Hotel. The food is good and if the day is nice they will have the patio open.

Paid a visit to the Glacier Saloon during our guys snowboarding trip to Lake Louise. Having saved some $$ on the earlier part of our trip, we splurged and shared a room at the Farimont Château Lake Louise — not a bad way to travel. The Glacier was the less pretentious of the dining options, resembling more of a high-end sports bar — that said the food and service were at the same level as you would expect from a Fairmont property. Jodi our server was outstanding at selling and explaining various dining options. Her excitement about the menu was contagious and had us fumbling to decide between 10oz Alberta steak, venison bangers and mash or one of their gourmet pizzas. By the end of her mouth watering descriptions, we had each ordered one of her recommendations — hey a full day on the slopes can build an appetite! I ordered the AAA Striploin steak, initially it arrived over cooked so I asked for it to be redone. The staff(and manager) was so apologetic that I felt guilty asking for a re-fire on my beef, but at $ 40 a plate I had to ask for it to be redone. In fact, they take their customer service so seriously that the chef himself delivered my new steak and waited for my hungry nod of approval before leaving and apologizing once again. This was the kind of top shelf experience I expect from this sort of establishment and they(the staff) brought it! I did have an Old Fashioned as my beverage of choice, and I’d award it as a passible beverage option, certainly not a top contender on my list, but was definitely sated my craving for bourbon, bitters and orange zest. If you’re planning on having a bite here, you’re in good hands, I’d definitely return next time I’m in Lake Lousie. Eatcrest Out

It’s in the château so it ain’t cheap! The Glacier Saloon is tastefully decorated, well staffed, very well stocked, ski lodge style pub. There are pool tables and several TVs its a comfortable place to grab an après ski beverage. Had a burger. Delicious! Choice of beef or bison, fully loaded, choice of sides. Local beer — Grizzly Paw Pilsner.

The steak mac and cheese is AMAZING. I also had whatever their mushroom burger is called and that was fantastic as well. Great service and they will allow small children.

Lunch on the Glacier patio was the best part of my latest visit to Lake Louise. I ordered yam fries and the St. Piran pizza. I must say that the combination of pulled Alberta bison, sautéed portobello mushroom, saskatoon berries, mozza, fontina, cheddar and balsamic make for a truly delicious, organic thin crust pizza.

Should you be trapped in the Fairmont and in need of poutine, look no further! Because you won’t find it here. What you’ll find is «Butter Chicken Poutine Skillet $ 16 — tandoori chicken, Québec cheese curds, butter chicken sauce, cilantro yogurt. I didn’t want any of that fru-fru stuff so I asked if they could just make normal poutine and they did! Sadly it was pretty sub-par. The fries were barely fried, the cheese curds were cheap and bland, and the gravy was almost inedible. I dipped into a few other shared plates and all were equally over-priced and underwhelming. The nail in the coffin was when I asked for a dirty martini and received a glass of the most sour, rancid tasting olive juice I’ve ever had. Moral of the story, don’t stay in resorts unless you have to or are okay with a tight lock down on good food and drinks.

We came to this place by accident. Went to see the lake and the road going back down was completely backed up so we had to kill some time. The place is done up in saloon-southwestern style and very classy, relaxing and comfortable. It has a very nice mix of upscale restaurant and casual style. I thought it was a nice welcome to Alberta. Considering this place is in the Fairmont, it’s very reasonably priced. The menu was also very unique and interesting — seemed like the chef had a nice imagination. The service was great. I got my usual cocktail and they did it perfectly. Highly recommend to anyone going to Lake Louise.

Delicious food and even better desserts! I’ve liked everything I’ve ordered. It has a very western atmosphere and a nice view of the lake! It’s not a very classy or romantic place though, for that, I would recommend the restaurant upstairs. Must try the brownie in a mug!!! We only go there for the darn brownie!

Our Team decided to take a Sunday off from our work in Calgary and head out to Banff and Lake Louise for a small taste of the Canadian Rockies. I have been to this area several times and at the end always long to come back. Unfortunately for this time around, our time was very limited and our hike was limited to only part of the Plain of Six Glaciers hike. That’s a far cry from the last time when I did the complete Lake Agnes and Six Glaciers hike, including a visit to both Tea Houses. But before the Hike, we decided to have Lunch. Of course there’s the main floor restaurant at the Château Lake Louise that has the signature postcard view of the Lake. However, that area(and the most of the rest of the Hotel for that matter) was packed with guests and tourists, and almost to the point of being loved too much. We didn’t have that kind of time to wait and decided to go downstairs to the Glacier Saloon. The Western-styled Glacier Saloon has a small patio, which I have no idea why it was closed on such a nice day. Instead, we ended up at a table near the window so that we could either look at the Lake from afar or watch NFL Football. The food was decent, my micro brew was tasty and cold, and the service was friendly and efficient. And like everything else here at the Château, it was Über expensive(even factoring in Loonie — US Dollar parity) and a bit too busy for its own good. If there’s a next time, it will be with Gayle, with at least a few meals upstairs, during the off season, and maybe staying on the Gold Floor or at the Deer Lodge just down the road.

Nice saloon in a very fancy hotel. It takes you back to a different time and service is quick and friendly. Wish there weremore seats by the windows but the ambiance was still nice. Good selection of scotch and decent prices. We shared the rocky mountain skillet which contained loaded nachos, honey garlic hot wings, jalapeño poppers, cheddar poblano spuds, crispy shrimp, guacamole, sour cream and salsa. The est item were the wings which were both sweet and spicy. I could eat a whole dozen of these! The poppers were also tasty as were the spuds. The shrimp were a bit bland though and the nachos were dry and lacked the loadedness that was promised. I would recommend the wings if you visit and skip the rest! Overall, nice option if you are at the château and want something more casual and bar food!

This bar is located in the basement of one of the most beautiful and expensive hotels in the world and yet it is dark, kitch and struggling to find its own identity. One enters through swinging saloon doors into a dark panelled men’s’ club décor complete with English style settees. The mixed messages continue with the bar atmosphere starkly interrupted by the presence of children. This is the family eating option at night in the Château. The first time I took my son here, I was stunned that this is where they think kids should eat after a day on the slopes. In fact, they have a kids menu which, while limited, does offer the only real value items/ The adult menu has something entrees one might associate with a saloon — steak, bison, burgers. But also nasi goren and pasta. Soup of the day was minestrone, really? Clearly, trying to cover all the bases. My son had the children’s steak which came with a 3 small carrots and a small serving of whipped potatoes. The steak seemed smaller than advertised. but he said he demi-glacé was good. I had nasi goren and it was very tasty. even pleasantly spicy. The large shrimp were perfectly cooked. It did not look like traditional nasi goren with a rice base, I think it was rice noodles, but still good. Only complaint was that the tofu had not been warmed enough. So all in all, if we hadn’t been seated next to a pool table and the music had been quieter, might have been a nice family outing.

PUBFOODWITH A STELLARVIEW — PRICEYBUTDECENT So was given once in a lifetime opportunity to attend a conference here in the über upscale Fairmont Château Lake Louise and jumped at the chance! Decided tonight to grab a casual bite to eat at the pub. This a east meets west kinda pub — lots of wood like a English pub BUT waitstaff was dressed in western gear?! anyway… Started off with Honey Chipotle Tenderloin bites — meet was cooked great but this was not spicy. Hubby had chowder next — this was a misstep — seemed watery — we told waitstaff and they refunded us and offered other options — he decided to pass. I had a side salad and that was good. The big winner was the pizza(Skokie Vegetarian) — was organic and very DELISH! That was star — nice and crisp with a good ratio of toppings. Hubby had chicken and ribs and again spice level was super mild. I get the idea of trying not to make overly spicy and appeal to the masses but this restaurant is off on spice levels! Dessert was a hit and a miss. I had peach cobbler which was perfect, warm, just right size. The hubby had the brownie sundae which was heavy on the brownie and kinda dry with very little ice cream. The bill was pricey considering the 50⁄50 success we had but the waitstaff was attentive and kind. This whole place is insanely expensive so I’ve almost blocked that fact out of my mind and excused it for being business ;)
