At Backyard Vineyards our grapes are harvested from our own Fraser Valley Estate vineyards and from our farmers’ vineyards in the Okanagan Valley. Since we opened in 2009 we have been recognized both locally and internationally, winning over 50 medals for our wines. We pride ourselves in making exceptional BC VQA wines at affordable prices. Our Tasting Room & Wine Shop is open 7 days a week. Wine tastings are free for groups under twelve and be sure to try one of our delicious pairing platters. Wine is below our expectations but its a nice place to chill and hang out if you want to relax with a group of friends on a nice sunny afternoon.

The newly renovated tasting room is beautifully done, adding a little more sophistication to the space. We were welcomed with generous tastings supplied by the knowledgeable but approachable staff. We decided to stay for a glass, which we drank by the fireplace (throw blankets supplied!). The Syrah is a clear winner (especially for the price of $ 22!) but all the reds, in particular, are done very well. The Reserve Cabernet Franc was not available for tasting, but based on the quality of the non-reserve Cab Franc, I picked up a bottle as a potential Impress-The-Hostess gift. The only thing that would have made the visit better would be more comfortable seating in the fireside area, but then again, if that was the case, we may never have left :)

If there are wine tour vans in the parking lot, don’t bother going in. Their tiny tasting room isn’t made for it. We went there to buy a case over the weekend and could not get anyone’s help. I probably will not go back. It is one thing to be busy, it is another thing to ignore customers.
