The suburbs often get overlooked but there are great gems, such as Choo Choo’s in Langley! The décor will make you nostalgic for your childhood — there’s even a plane hanging from the ceiling! Think comfort food and drinks and large slices of cake! Yum! I had the milkshake, soda, waffles, and the most expensive breakfast plate. Everything was solid, nothing mind blowing, but expect a classic American family restaurant experience.

Came here when most of the lower mainland was having a power outage. Needless to say not many restaurants were open for breakfast but we found this one. Waitress was super friendly but very overworked. She was obviously one of the few people working there so very frazzled but managed to keep a smile. Food took longer than usual to come but I am forgiving and the service was friendly so no big deal. That’s when it all went downhill. The food was gross. Like, GROSS. Under cooked to say the least. My bacon looked like it barely even hit the pan. Sloppy floppy pink bacon. Not edible. Kids had waffles that were still wet inside. Breakfast wrap had some mystery ham inside(it was supposed to have bacon and sausage) along with chunks of what I swear looked like raw bacon. Hash browns were overcooked and swimming in grease. Will never go back

Went here for a birthday dinner. The restaurant wasn’t full by any means but it took an hour to get our food. They offered us bread about 45min after we ordered but only after we complained about the wait. When the food actually came they forgot my girlfriends chicken and my wings weren’t cooked. Not slightly undercooked but still bleeding. Horrible experience and the servers didn’t really seem to care. Won’t be going back.

Smells like an old basement. The chicken wings were over cooked. Tasted like the chicken got cooked out of it. Who I assume is the owner seated us and didn’t give us the drink menu, so we didn’t even know of the different options. Won’t be going back.

Go for the pies, not the main dishes. Took my wife and daughter out for a weekend lunch. The atmosphere was definitely family friendly. Our waitress was excellent and very helpful. The cheesecakes were good. The food we ordered was bland, greasy, and somewhat overpriced. If we return it will be for the cakes and not the food on the menus.

I went there with my 1.5 year old. Great for him with the trains and all. Food all seemed to be reheated. Nothing was fresh.

Brunch is the best choice! Their selection are mouth watering every time I look at the menu. Price is reasonable when you go for brunch. Dinner portion is a bit small consider more $$. However the service is pretty good, waiters are polite and friendly.

Very bland boring food. I had the chipotle raspberry chicken. It was very sweet jam on chicken. No heat at all. Just sweet sugary jam smeared on top of meat. The waitress who served us was so darling. She was the highlight of the meal. My daughter thought the schnitzel was good. My husband had fish and chips. He liked his fish. But we all agreed the fries were a greasy mess. Now several hours later he has an upset stomach. I don’t think it was food poisoning. Just greasy greasy food. We like trying new places. But this one really needs to update the food. It was bland. My meal really reminded me of hospital food. Or those microwave meals as a kid. One dimensional. What was kind of good was the pies. They were kind of fun and good. I wanted to like it. I really did. Sorry for the bad review.

Ordered 3 orders of halibut and fries. One two piece and two one piece orders. The two piece had 2 pieces of cod and one of halibut. The one piece orders both had halibut, but… All of the orders were so greasy, too greasy in fact, too much batter and way over cooked, none of it was fresh. It was a horrible meal over all. The coleslaw was stale and drowned in mayonnaise, even the fries seemed re cooked. None of us will ever go back there. We didn’t make a fuss there but thought others should be warned. Don’t order the fish there! You won’t like it.

Well my meal was very good I had a chicken burger with stuffing and walnuts. The hubby had a pulled pork pizazz pizza. And my son had the schnitzel mini The pizza was good rated 3⁄5 Schnitzel I didn’t care for but he rated it 3⁄5 The price was pretty high though 14 $ for half order when full price is 17. But my sons loves the ambiance. That’s why we only come out here once a year.

This is a nice family restaurant that we’ve passed by many times on the way to see relatives, but we never got the chance to try it out until last month. It is the most family-friendly restaurant in the Lower Mainland and here’s why you need to take your kids there: 1) The owner greeted us with a smile and made conversation with our little boy. 2) They have a train room. Families can eat their food here while the kids collectively play at the Thomas the train table. It gives kids something to do while waiting for food and everyone is happy. My son met a lot of new friends here:) We also enjoyed chatting with other parents there as our kids played together. Great family vibe. There is also a nice model train set up and a little train that moves along the ceiling of the restaurant. Choo choo! Note: This section of the restaurant is unlicensed, so if you prefer to have a glass of wine with dinner, it’s best to get a table just outside the train room so you can keep an eye on your child and still enjoy that much needed glass of wine:) 3)They have a really good kids menu with healthy options. 4) Desserts. Home-made. Piled high. I think there were 7 or 8 options. We devoured our Oreo Cheesecake. 5) Extensive menu. Pages and pages of home-made items. My husband commented that even his veggie burger must have been made that day. I ordered the Chicken Fajita burger that was definitely real, unprocessed, grilled(not fried) chicken. It’s the first time I didn’t feel guilty after eating a burger. It was healthy! My son ordered the mac ‘n’ cheese. It was home-made too and served at perfect kid-friendly room temperature, just the way he likes it:) 6) The staff. Our waitress was really kind to us and to our son, interacted with him and answered a billion of his questions, even though she was really busy. We had to save her a few times…:) Choo-Choo’s really goes out of their way to make everyone, not just families, feel welcome. Amazingly great customer service worth coming back for!

I love Choo Choos so much. I wish so hard that is wasn’t as far as it is. My first experience here was for my ex’s birthday. We wanted to go to The Cheesecake Factory but we’d had an awful time at the border the last time and we weren’t really in the financial position to go down to Bellevue anyway. I googled places that had a good cheesecake menu and Choo Choos popped up. Perfect. The cheesecakes are mostly if not all no-bake, which is less preferable to baked but their flavours still stood out. When we show up we realize that it is very much a family run, ma n pa type place. I felt so comfortable there, being from Newfoundland where these type of restaurants are the norm. They have beautiful toy trains for children to play with and the restaurant is decked out in antique decorations. Some may find it cheesy, but fuck them. This place is cozy in and out. The man who I assume to be the owner is always there to greet you, and he is very sweet. Moving on. All of the food is made from scratch, and the taste reflects it. The pizzas stand out for me. The honey mustard is godly. The chicken parm was so full of guilt that I dreamt of it. Portions are HUGE. The cheesecakes… ooooooh boy. Oh boy oh boy oh boy. I will post pictures that I will have to dig up from Facebook. I miss you Choo choos!

ok now im biased because my b/f is a cook there! Very impressed to find out they make all their own buns and desserts from scratch! All their meat is cut in house. On the weekend they serve scones with their breakfasts… my …god…the woman that makes them could open her own bakery. She’s amazing! They’ve opened up a cute kids room in the back for families. it has a train set for the kids to play with and it makes parents feel a little more calm when their kids are in the ‘eat on the run’ mode they usually are in. the kids can laugh and have fun and the parents wont feel like they are bothering anyone. i’m looking forward to sitting on the patio this summer and enjoying a cold drink!

I have been going to this place evr sice I was a little kid and nothing has changed even until now. It is ran by a family and they do a great job of keeping fantastic consistency everytime I go. If you have kids it’s a great place to go to because of the ambiance and if your little one likes trains they get to see the little model train go around the restaurant on a track near the ceiling. When you enter the restaurant you first see the very inviting cakes, pies, and other desserts that are smiling at you from behind the glass counter«pick me» they all say. Hostess was very friendly seating the group and if there is a wait it isn’t very long as there are lots of seats and even a party rom you can reserve. As you are seated to your table you get to look at all of the ineteresting ambiance that surrouds the eating area. The eating area is at a good level, not oo bright and not too dark Lots of antique bird cages, posters, paintings, children’s wagons, a lot of things are items that you would see at an antique store. Food here is excellent as there is so much variety. Burgers are huge and filling with choice of salad or fries, great nacho plate, different pastas, steaks, and sandwiches. My parents love getting the steak sandwich because of how consistently great the cooking staff makes it. Despite how busy the palce is the serving staff does a great job taking orders, refilling drinks, and seeing if there is anything else that you need. They do an excellent job. If you’re in Langley make sure to stop in at Choo Choo’s it’s a great experience.

Choo Choo’s is right on Fraser Highway in the old downtown part of Langley. It’s definitely a local gem! Spence and I first discovered this place because there are some pretty neat shops around old downtown Langley and we just so happen to stumbled upon this place when we were trying to decide where to eat. I find Choo choos very neat. You are actually able to view the daily special outside the doors and decide if you even want to dine here or not. Its nice because you don’t seemed forced to dine, as if you walked in another restaurant, ask for a menu and feel bad if you walked away. We read the special that day which was prime rib and lemon snapper. I also noticed a display of some sort through the main doors, so I walked a little further and saw it was a display of DESSERTS!!! I was totally sold. We were greeted right when we walked in! … by desserts, trains, teddy bears and of course a hostess. We sat at a nice big booth and were handed menus. Right off the bat we see a milkshake menu, make your own or choose one. We decided to share a cookies and cream! There was a loose paper within the menu that had the summer burgers to which my eye caught the«poutine burger» mmmm… I didn’t end up going with that but almost! I went with one of the specials which was the lemon snapper and Spence went with a Hawaiian burger with a caesar salad. While we waited for our food, we were entertained by the random décor and moving train. It was pretty neat, very rustic! Our food came out in a timely manner; we didn’t wait too long at all. Spence’s burger looked delicious! Open faced homemade burger topped with a pineapple with sweet n’ sour glaze, the other half of the bun had tomatoes, lettuce, onions and pickles on it and there was a side place of casear salad with grated cheese and croutons. My lemon snapper looked plain compared to Spences! Snapper topped with citrus sauce with a side of balsamic rice and steamed vegetables. Spence loved his Hawaiian burger! I even got to have a bite and it was pretty tasty! The snapper was alright; it was a bit plain and dry but other than that it was a-ok! Service was good. They gave us space to talk, but at the same time filled our glasses of water and asked how everything was. I definitely saved room for dessert, so we asked for a dessert menu. Out comes one of the staff with a whole tray of different dessert slices. «This is how we always present our desserts» he says. I thought it was a pretty neat way of presenting desserts and making it more personal. Spence and I decided to share the«To die for cheesecake» which an oreo cookie bottom, cheesecake in the middle and a whipping cream on top sprinkled with skor bits. It came out with«Choo Choo» written in chocolate on the side of the plate. It was cute and… to die for!!! The cheesecake was so light and fluffy! It was just amazing! Choo Choo’s purchases the majority of their food and beverages locally. If you’re craving some homemade food, this is definitely the place to hit up in Langley. If I lived in Langley, this would be my go to place to dine!
