History

Established in 2002.

It was a chance meeting in Bangkok in 2002, with a connected and insightful diamond industry manager, that put Diamonds West co-​founders Niel Westman and Lauren Zenzen on a path that would come to revolutionize the way people buy diamonds today. Now having access to the highest quality diamonds on the global market, the two discovered that they could cut out a whole lot of the overhead associated with traditional retail outlets. They found that it was these costs that added so much to the price of a diamond and diamond settings, and that also in these instances, the grade of the jewel frequently did not correspond with the retail price. And so the ambitious couple set out to re-​imagine how people could access diamonds — certainly one of life’s most important and meaningful acquisitions.
