Krause Berry Farms

The atmosphere at the farm is always very good. The strawberries are usually a little pricy but very good. Unfortunately, this year they were a little smaller and not as sweet as previous years. Nevertheless, still a great time.

I’ve been here 3 times this year since it’s close to my home and it’s a fun place to get farm fresh produce and see what’s baking in the Country Store. In the spring time, their garden by the wine tasting area is awashed in beautiful flowers.
I bought a flat of strawberries here last spring and they were deliciously fresh. They were tinier than the ones you see in the grocery but they are sweeter and don’t have that hollow white middle. I also got some sweet blueberries that were perfect for freezing and munching (made me feel good popping these sugar bombs in my mouth!) I’ve purchased some of their bakery products and my favorite so far is the apple crumble with salty caramel syrup. It’s not so sweet until you put the caramel and can feed up to 8 people. Their berry trifle is nicely layered with rich creamy custard and sponge cake. It comes in a resealable mason jar and cannot be eaten in one sitting. Lactose intolerants beware! The most disappointing was the strawberry scone because it was dry and tasteless.
The Country Store has a lot of packaged gourmet foods and other household wares but they’re very pricey. They also have their own jam and specialty cooking oils. I bought some jam for my parents and they loved it.
There’s also an outdoor eatery that sells snacks, drinks and ice cream. You can see the ladies running around to get the orders out as soon as possible because the place is so popular. My fave is the creamy strawberry ice cream. So good that I went back in to the Country Store to buy a huge container! The corn pizza was bizarre and the only thing I liked about it was the artichoke.
This is a great place for anyone who wants to get away from the city.

Do not come here as I go here and now you are in my way! Love this place! Crazy good everything! Too good for you! You will not like it! Huge rat infestation! Honest…

Delicious milkshakes, berry waffles, pies & everything else I’ve ever tried. The winery is adorable, the store is full of fun & yummy things. The snack bar is always a big hit! We go back every year.

I really do love coming here on Thursday evenings for waffles and nachos. Entertainment is always good. I think it is the outside farm feeling here. Relaxed and outside. Food is good for what it is. baking is superb. My only complaint is that it is super slow. Under staffed… and with 2 separate eating areas it can take 40 minutes to get a couple milkshakes and a plate of nachos. It is usually busy. .they need to have 1 place to order and make the kitchen large enough to handle the crowd. But over all we keep coming back!

Update: this is still a great place to be in the summertime. Come in the am and sit down for a fresh tasty waffle covered in fresh berries and whip cream. Oh lawwdy.
Go pick some fat juicy blackberries and eat as many as you can while doing so! All of a sudden you remember what real blackberries taste like. They are nothing like those cold packaged hard centred bitter things grown in Brazil that you have been buying at the grocery store. No no never again. Promise yourself you will never do that again after slathering you face in purple juice while you got a mad sunburn.
Oh did I mention they now carry a wonderful exotic tayberry dessert wine and a sparking raspberry bubbly that will make you drool? Jump onto a saddle and get to drinking.
Avoid the gross winearita’s…you can do better than that.

Berries straight off the vine for incredibly low prices! $ 1.75 a pound for blueberries, and $ 2 a pound for Raspberries, blackberries and strawberries!
Being from Hawaii, berries are especially expensive ($ 6-​$ 8 per pound) and they are certainly not fresh. Krause Farms was a dream come true for my kids who are major berry lovers! We spent a couple of hours picking raspberries and blueberries. It was very simple — 1. pay $ 1 for a container (or you can also bring your own) 2. Pick your berries 3. Weigh your berries 4. Pay! We paid around $ 5 for two large baskets of blueberries and raspberries!
The outdoor café sells lots of yummy farm to table foods, such as berry pies, corn pizza, fresh fries, and smoothies. We had refreshing berry juice (which was more like a slush) and it was delicious! Not too sweet, not too sour but just right.
You should definitely check out the market too! If you don’t have time to pick your own berries, you can buy them buy the carton fulls. Lots of other fresh veggies to purchase as well, for low prices.
Make sure to allot a few hours when visiting Krause Farms, as there is lots to see, do and EAT!

This farm was recomended to me and when we went for the first time it was definately worth the visit. The fruit picking is so much fun; the shop has so much to offer from home made fruit pies to bread and fudge and much more… There is also a winery for those interested in a sip or two. The waffles with fresh fruit and cream are delicious… aroubd xmas time they do the pancakes and them too are super. Children friendly. A nice day out throughout the year!!!

If you had asked me last year, I would have said that this was one of the few places to go both for the strawberries and the atmosphere. Sadly I would no longer say that. I was there on the last weekend on May and purchased a flat of strawberries. The flats are now advertised as 12 pounds, whereas last year they were 15. The trouble is, the flat I was sold contained just over 10 pounds of strawberries. Sure with the plastic containers and the giant cardboard box you carry them in it weighed just over 12 pounds but in Canada, sellers are required to sell produce at net weight not gross. I submitted a complaint on their website about this problem but they never borthered to respond. Too busy? or don’t care? Not sure, but they have gotten the last money they will get from me.

This is a terrible place for a diabetic. It is, however, a wonderful place to become a diabetic. The fruit pies and ice cream are great. And in season fruit and berries are wonderful.

Krause has enlarged their facilities considerably since we were there picking last year. Unfortunately they did not enlarge their ‘restroom’ — it’s still just a little two stall affair, and the day we were there, there was a line-​up outside the door most of the time. Poor planning. Plus the lock on one of the stalls was not functioning :(

Very fun farm or should I say Krause Berry Empire with lots of activities for the whole family. Service was friendly and it was very well maintained. We’ll definitely make it a yearly event!

Where to begin.
It’s far, very far, from me at least. Took over an hour to get here.
Almost like a tourist attraction, they have stalls for coach buses.

This place really is meant for families and for children. BTW, children love to pick berries. Bring them here. My daughter had a heck of a time., and loved it.
What did I try? A scone. A berry filled scone. Not the doughy things that you get at supermarkets. This was the real deal full fruit filled with,… here it comes, no added sugar. Gosh this was good. Blueberry and strawberry scones. The only sugar was the small amount of icing on the outside pastry. So be warned, if you have a thing for sweetness, you may not like it. It’s not sweet at all. This is the way that I like it — no sugars.
I didn’t get a chance to get one of the delicious custard fruit pies. It was 31 degrees and would have spoiled in my car on the way back home.
Definitely worth a repeat visit.

This place is great. There was a surprising amount to do, and eat, here. The Porch has smaller items, inside you’ll find candy, preserves, kitchen gadgets and other goodies, and they also have a winery, small petting zoo, u-​pick berry zone, and waffle station.
Here’s my disclaimer: I’m not a fan of berries. I never have been. I don’t think they’re gross, they’re just not something I would go out of my way for. My husband had a waffle loaded with raspberries and blueberries and topped with fresh whip, and he reiterated that I’m mental for not liking them. He really enjoyed it. Some of the berries were just massive. The waffle itself, which I did try, was crisp and golden outside and fluffy inside. It was a win.
The fudge, which we sampled yesterday, was too sweet for me. I have a bit of a fudge bias, as I make killer fudge, but it was too cloying for me. My husbands favourite of he fur we had (chocolate, pistachio, peanut bitter and creamsicle), was the creamsicle. Still sweet, but the flavour was spot on.
The corn pizza… Holy crap. It is delicious! We ended up going back to get a frozen one for dinner later. It’s loaded with fresh corn, cheese and a really great sauce. This was the hit of the day, followed closely by the panini. I’m a sucker for fresh mozza, and this had it in spades, along with tomato, pesto and spinach. This was one fresh sandwich.
We finished with a delectable vanilla shake and an apple cider donut. It was one of the best vanilla shakes I’ve had, and the donut, while solid, paled in comparison to Moonshine Donuts back home. In all honesty though, that’s an unfair comparison.
The petting zoo is tiny, but the littles, five and nine months, liked it. My son (the five monther), adores new animals, and the goats all got big smiles from him. Unless older kids really love animals, they would probably be bored.
It’s a great place, and definitely with a look of you’re in Langley. We picked up some honey roasted peanut butter and fresh corn nuts to try for later. I’m sure we won’t be disappointed.

Went there for the first time on the weekend while I was working at the Scotiabank MS Bike Tour. Staff was very polite and the facility was nice and clean, not what comes to mind when you think of a farm.
When you walk out of the market towards the winery you are welcomed with the smell of fresh made to order waffles. I was treated to a fresh waffle with mounds of fresh cut strawberries and whipped cream at the waffle bar. It was a great little snack to start off the morning, nice and light. I’m not sure if its on their regular menu or if it was just offered for the event participants but I also had a turkey sandwich. The bread made the sandwich, it was fresh (as everything there seems to be) and the crust was crispy as if it just came out of the oven.
As I was working the event I didn’t have too much time to look around or do any u-​picking. I did manage to take a peek into the winery. I don’t know much about wine but they were decently priced ranging from $ 10 – 17 for fruit wines, $ 20 for dessert wines and $ 30 for a blackberry port. Wine tasting is $ 4 I believe but is waived with a wine purchase.
I would definitely go back there on my own time to explore the rest of the property, do some berry picking, check out the garden and taste some wines!

This isn’t just your ordinary U Pick Farm. It’s way more than that because you could easily spend hours at the farm.
Besides having a U-​Pick farm, they also have a playground for kids to play in, a market place that sells baked goods, already picked berries, little knick knacks for your kitchen or your home, a winery that sells berry wines, a ride on tractor that goes around the farm and food.
U Pick is great because you can pick your own berries and they are cheaper than what you would typically pay at the store for the same berries but it’s also fun. Not everyone would consider it a fun endeavour I suppose but for me with a little son, picking your own berries had dual purpose. I can get the berries I want and also have a fun time with my little guy who loves farms.
Overall, I was quite impressed with the size of the farm and all the other amenities it had to offer.

We chose this berry farm for family berry picking day because it was a little bit further away from the highway and the crowds were less packed than the other congested berry farms.
This farm is very well laid out with a decent concession stand along with a bakery, wine store, and mini restaurant all tightly connected but spacious enough to walk around with wee ones.
The highlight to this family affair was of course the berry picking. Parents seem to have gotten the message that this is going to be a fun filled day for kids under 5 because there were a lot of them riding in wagons and there were strollers everywhere.
You only need to line up for an empty berry basket ($ 1 each or bring your own bucket) and start picking. We got picking during the strawberry season and when the strawberry season is all done, it will be time for raspberry picking, and so on. Planning for what you want to pick is key.
The nice surprise of the day was a tiny little barn in behind the back of the farm where they held a few barnyard animals like goats, chickens and pigs.
This is hands down one great way to spend a summer afternoon with the tots

A fun group or couples activity.
It’s quite a far drive from East Vancouver, but it is definitely worth it. The fields are set up in rows and easy to navigate. You can line up and to get your bucket to hold whatever it is you are picking. Depending on the season, Krause has different crops for your picking pleasure.
Not feelin’ the nature/​farmer vibe? You can just buy the fruit or vegetables at their market. They have strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, green beans, sweet corn or nugget potatoes. There’s even a bakery to purchase their delicious pies! I wish I had purchased one because my friend keeps rubbing it in my face about how scrumptious it was.

We went a bit Krazy at Krause Berry Farm today! We picked up some jelly/​jam samplers, donuts, a huge pie, some coffee and corn! I’ve already tried the donuts and i’m hooked… a little on the sweet side, but i’m kinda into that stuff. they’re pretty damn good, in all honesty. i’d like to find donut shop that could compare to them. forget duffins! it kills them! krause’s donuts are a little pricey though. i think we paid around 6 bucks for the ½ dozen.
im not the type to drive out for some donuts, but if you’re in the area and want a good donut, by all means… that’s the place i would hit up.
