Avalon Massage Academy is an English-​language massage school utilizing a holistic approach to both wellness and teaching. Classes are semi-​private and personalized to suit the needs of its students who will be guided towards their new or existing career in MassageTherapy. The classes are small and there is individual attention when needed, and the course of study is, of course, hands-​on.

Whatever your age or previous experience, we can help you become a qualified, certified Massage Therapist in Swedish and Thai Yoga techniques in about six months at a surprisingly reasonable cost. There is also a comprehensive list of courses in the Continuing Education program such Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Reflexology, Pre-​natal, Hot Stones, Champi Head Massage, Reiki, Ayurveda and more.

Courses are offered on weekends, weekdays, or in the evenings, and times can be made more flexible based on the needs of the students. What is important is that, upon completing the basic program, you will be qualified to apply for jobs in spas and clinics or start your own private practice.

History

Established in 2014.

The school may be relatively new but the team of teachers are all seasoned instructors in the many courses and techniques offered. The founder, Nazzarena Santini has been teaching for many years at Ecole Setsuko and the West Island Women’s Center.

Avalon came about in response to the need for English-​language massage & holistic school in the south west end of Montréal. Course offerings are meant to combine both bodywork and energy work i. e Shaman journey and Ayurveda.

Why the name Avalon? It is meant to conjure the feeling of the Arthurian legend where the spirit world and the physical world meet. Merlin, both the Magician and the Alchemist was able to transform and transmute anything. The idea of changing one’s life without limitations, in fact, the possibilities being endless. The sense of bringing back magic, wonder and empowering ourselves to reach our highest potential. King Arthur’s round table represents the collaborative spirit, the circle, unity and community.

I have the great privilege of practicing my many passions everyday as a self-​employed Massage Therapist, Naturotherapist, Teacher, Instructor/​facilitator. When I teach, I am truly in my element and now with Avalon Massage Academy, working with a team of like-​minded and highly skilled teachers is a true synergy of my ability to bring people together. The school reflects lifelong values and therefore a reflection and an example of alternate approaches while still keeping industry standards. School standards are high yet still flexible to accommodate students’ needs. Currently the school is predominantly English-​speaking filling a need amongst anglophiles.
