I’ve gone to Evolution off-and-on over the last few years, and I’ve always had a really great experience whenever I’m there. Recently Evolution moved from a very small space in a Stripmal on 50th Avenue to a much larger space on 50th Street, where the old Fields store used to be. The salon is now much bigger, and more open, with a fun and fresh modern design. In total I think there were about 10 hair stations, 4 or 5 sinks near the back. There are only a couple of tables in the waiting area by the front door, but there is a another waiting area closer to the sinks with a few more couches. I went to Evolution the other day for two appointments, a facial wax and a haircut. The facial wax was done at the sink. Your neck is never super comfortable at those sinks, but the waxing only took about 10 minutes. It was relatively, not super painful(not as painful as other places). My hair, eyebrows, etc are blonde so I always like to get a professional wax because if I try to tweeze or wax myself I can’t see anything(I also have to take off my glasses = blindness). The girl who did the waxing was friendly and professional and did a good job. The waxing was only $ 25(before tip) which I think is a good deal. I’ve been to other places and paid twice as much and been less than satisfied with the results. My haircut was with another stylist, which was equally as friendly and professional as the first. I’m not one to do anything crazy with my hair, and I’m also very lazy and hate styling, so I asked for a trim, and some layers, and to thin my hair out a bit(it’s very thick). The haircut comes with a shampoo, which is nice because if you just go to a cheap Supercuts kind of place they won’t always do that. Plus I think you just get a better haircut when it’s washed and shampooed and and cut wet anyway. My hair was cut, and I felt bad for all the hair on the floor(there’s so much, and I only got about an 1.5 inches trimmed). It was then straightened and styled. Probably the only downside to going for a haircut is that I can never recreate the same style at home. I just really suck at straightening my hair, but my head feels lighter and my hair can move and I feel like a human again. The haircut was $ 45 before tax/tip and again for the price I am very satisfied with the results. The new salon is better and the service and quality at Evolution is excellent. I’ll be back.
