Take Sushi Japanese & Korean Restaurant

I have been to this restaurant maybe 3 times. The food is good everytime except tonight. Tonight, our server was not attentive or focused. My sister ordered pork gyoza and was brought beef gyoza. Fortunately my friend ordered the same thing and did not mind eating the beef dumplings even though they were cold. My friend also ordered chicken katsu which never came and when we asked the server, he did not apologize or admit his mistake. He simply left to put the order in. The only positives of tonight were that the sushi rolls were delicious and the fish used was fresh. Bad service ruined my experience.

I ordered delivery from here just today and thought I should write a review based on my thoughts and experience…
Placing my order went great, they were quick to answer the phone, the girl who answered was friendly and easy to talk to. She told me that my order would be anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour, I was really looking forward to my sushi !
After an hour went by I started to get a little hungrier and anxious waiting for my food so I called… She told me the driver had just left… That was fine… Another 30 minutes went by and finally they showed up. It took an hour and 30 minutes exactly to get my order delivered which I find to be a crazy amount of time.
As far as the sushi itself I ordered the salmon combo which I thought was pretty good and the spring rolls I thought were really great. My only suggestions with the sushi is they only gave me two small little packs of soy sauce, you would think for over 12 pieces of sushi I would have got more then 2 little packs. I find it’s better when they put the soy sauce in little containers so you can dip the sushi in. Also the salmon combo comes with a lot and is 18 $, I only received 1 set of chop sticks and ordered 3 bottles of water and 3 pops… I am wondering why they wouldn’t assume maybe someone else could potentially be eating the sushi with me needing 1 more set of chopsticks. Anyways …
Overall I would say the wait was long, the sushi was good but lacked in soy sauce, sadly I don’t have any at home so would have really appreciated more then 2 little packs… I guess I should have asked for extra ! I may not order from here again just due to the extremely long wait time. I’ve order sushi from elsewhere before and it was really quick to come and with lots of soy sauce too ! That is not to say that the sushi it’s self wasn’t good because I did enjoy it !

I was highly unimpressed with this place. My party ordered a China roll, Philadelphia roll, California roll and Alaska roll, as well as hot tea and edamame. The rolls were just so-​so, the tea was bland and the service was ridiculously slow. The private booth was cool but wasn’t enough to make up for the food. Prices were on the high side but they did have a small lunch deal — 20% off all rolls between 11:30 and 3. I won’t be back.

Ordered take out from here and was not all that impressed with the sushi rolls that I ordered. The yaki soba was also not really yaki soba… wasn’t made with soba noodles, and had a weird aftertaste. Maybe the Korean food options are better.

Visiting from out of town and was craving sushi. Restaurant was cute, with many booths as well as open dining tables. It was pretty empty on a Sunday night. Service was prompt and pleasant.
I ordered an orange dragon roll and a 7-​spice calamari, which was on special. The calamari was excellent, and the roll was decent. Not as flavourful as some others I’ve had, but satisfying.
The rolls were quite pricey, running at 12 – 15 bucks. The orange dragon (called a red dragon in other places) was 14.95, which is more than what I’ve seen typically charged. There was a 30% off special though, so it was worth it!
Would definitely come back again, although prices are somewhat higher than the average.

Ate here on wed (nov 2012) we ordered the vegetable tempura, seaweed salad and the maki combo. the décor was pretty neat and the fact that you can have a pretty good privacy meal since they had booths with the Japanese sort of walls was cool. I was impressed by there presentation, I didn’t like that you ate with wood disposable chop sticks. But that was the only thing, I didn’t like. The tempura was relish, fresh shrimp ! The seaweed salad was amazing but is small so don’t expect a big plate! The rolls were yummy and had great presentation.

This is perhaps one of two Korean food restaurants in London, Ontario. The service staff and owners are super happy and friendly! They go out of their way to make it a great dining experience. There is a great diverse selection of both Japanese and Korean food.
The restaurant has primarily private booths — about 10 of them. Most of them are for 2 – 4 people, and there are two booths that hold 10+ people. The décor is very dated in Hunter Green pleather seats and flower carpets. Tons of silk flowers in the seating area.
Panchan included kim chee, bean sprouts, spinach, fish cake, and soybeans. Grade: B.
For appetizers, we had two:
Appetizer #1: Siu Mai. There were 6 pieces of siu mai served with a side of soy sauce. The siu mai were the ones that you buy frozen from the store and were steamed. Grade: C-​.
Appetizer #2: Tempura combination. Two pieces of shrimp tempura, one piece each of cauliflower, broccoli, kabocha pumpkin and carrot. Tempura was freshly made and served hot. Grade: B.
Hwe Dul Bop: Sashimi salad. A bed of lettuce topped with freshly grated beets, carrots, two colored tobiko (red and orange), maguro (red tuna), and Tai (whitefish snapper). Served with a bowl of rice and a dollup of kochujang sauce. Nice and fresh. Grade: B+
Soon tofu soup: Kim chee broth soup served with tofu and pieces of shrimp and onions. The tofu wasn’t the silky soft, but it was very firm and hard. Little taste to the soup. I asked for it to be spicy spicy spicy but it came barely colored in peppers. No flavor and blan. I ended up not eating 75% of the dish. Grade: C-​.
Kal Bi Jim: Braised shortribs dish was served with about 4 – 5 pieces of shrtribs, tender and fall off the bone. Lacked a bit of flavor, but was well prepared. Meat was fatty, which was nice. Grade: B.
Service here was OUTSTANDING! Grade: A!

Dated décor in a state of disrepair — large piece of wall paper hanging from the wall, seat cushions cracked and revealing foam. Sushi tasted very bland with no distinction between different types of fish. My Dol Sot Bibimbap had almost no beef in it. Loud. Slow service. I will «Take» my money elsewhere.

I don’t think there are many Korean places in London, so I was pretty excited when I found this place… which apparently has been here for quite a while. Very friendly and polite service and private-​ish seating so that you won’t have to awkwardly stare at strangers while you eat.
They have soju here but it’s expensive ($ 16 a bottle, not sure how big the bottles are though.) My husband and I had the miso soup, agedashi tofu, yachae bibambap and kimchi sushi. The kimchi rolls were really, really good and I have never had anything like that before (I’ve actually never had Korean food before.)
The bibambap (marinated vegetables with banchan and rice) was also excellent and their kimchi was excellent. I’ll be going back in the near future especially since it’s a bit cheaper than Ichiban, which is just right down the street.

Pretty standard Japanese fare at this place that for me was nothing terrible yet nothing special either. I had the tempura soba which was ok. The broth was a little bland and the tempura was a little on the heavy side. I’ve heard however that this place is more known for their Korean food which I haven’t had a chance to try yet (and this place seems to be quite popular with many Koreans in London). Will have to try again.

Now, in my world of sushi, this place isn’t 5 stars. But for London, it is.
I was seriously craving some Korean food, so I convinced my boyfriend to bring me here. When I saw that menu, I thought I had died. It had everything I needed to survive here. Ditching my initial craving for some dolsot bibimbap, I decided to order the sushi here.
Boyfriend ordered the shrimp tempura combo, I got, what I think, was the maki combo.
The soup was good, and the salad, though not as amazing as I would have liked it to be, was much better than my previous experience at asahi sushi. The food came and it looked delectable.
It was the rice that did it for me. Sushi can be ruined if the rice is bad, and for the first time since I have been in this city, I found rice that was perfectly cooked. I ate all the amazing sushi pieces, and snuck some of my boyfriends tempura into my tummy while I was at it.
I would definitely recommend this place over that other highly rated sushi place in London
