Wonder Sushi

Service was so bad, most waiters did not understand English properly. It took us 3 waiters to get our problem solved. Manager was not able to help us solve this situation and just left us furious. Our first time being at wonder sushi, if your into good service go to 168 sushi!

I used to go here pretty often, but hadn’t in about a year until a few days ago. There were some changes made that, I feel, were for the better. They now offer ordering on a tablet which is convenient. There are also more menu options available. I got the impression that they were really trying to please their customers. The waitstaff were attentive and polite.
We tried a number of different dishes ranging from sashimi to nigiri to teriyaki and tempura. I thought it was all good. I’d say it was on par with other all-​you-​can-​eat sushi places I’ve been to. The food was brought out quickly too which was also a nice change. I remember in the past having to wait awhile for some dishes.
I’d recommend this place for your AYCE sushi fix. Like I said before, it seems like they’re really trying to up their game a bit here. It was a pleasant dining experience.

Best dragon rolls I’ve had. The sushi was all very fresh and delicious. The food came promptly and the servers were very friendly. There is a lot of sushi competition out there but this place has always been my favourite. Good price too!

There’s something about ayce sushi where you go in thinking everything will be okay and then the immediate regret after eating.
$ 16 ayce. Everything was just average. The mango tango sushi rolls were good. Spare ribs were not bad. Sushi itself was meh.
Great service.
Honestly can’t say more. It was just a place to stop before heading back to Toronto.

I’ve been coming to Wonder Sushi for a few years now since it was the first place I was introduced to sushi by friends. I’ve enjoyed the food a good deal and haven’t been overly disappointed with the service, but I just can’t bring myself to go back after reading about all the health code violations.
Reading through the list of violations and almost-​closings on the health board website means I’ll probably be giving Wonder Sushi a pass in future — even if the crispy spicy salmon rolls were the best I’ve had so far.

This location was CLOSED in July 2015 for health violations. As of this updated review, it has been reopened but I seriously suggest you think twice about going here.

A MAJOR warning to anyone reading this: this location has been forced to close because of numerous health violations.
I only ate here once, and only managed two bites before tossing the rest in the trash. Given all this — and assuming that it ever reopens, which hopefully it won’t — I strongly recommend against ANYONE eating here, London has sushi places that are far superior to this. This place just falls far below basic standards of quality and cleanliness.

Wonder sushi used to be good.
But now, the terrible service just drove me away!
Waiters were alway staring at you when you were having dinner.
They were chatting, walking around but never helping.
We had three people and they only brought us 2 bowls and 2 spoons.
Their manager came but only found excuses no apology at all. Seemed like it was all customers’ fault .
Btw, they all had a long face recently.
I didn’t know what was going on here but I would not recommend here.

The servers girls are complete idiots here. I mean straight up dumb. Took a long time to set us even though wasn’t that busy. Then told us last minute after we waited and asked them over and over for an hour they ran out of certain items. Good food but stupid service.

Location isn’t clean, sushi wasn’t fresh and menu item selection was depressing. Mackerel served was visibly dried out, mushrooms came swimming in a lukewarm sauce, salmon cuts did not smell or taste fresh. None of the menu items ordered were memorable. Washrooms stunk of aged piss and items dropped from previous customers sit under the tables uncleaned.
I’m incredibly disappointed with my experience and am concerned for the hygiene implemented in the preparation of the food items consumed.
Will not be returning and highly suggest potential diners to avoid.

I have been to Wonder Sushi many times now, since i was a student at Western, Wonder Sushi was a one stop for amazing sushi in London. Then the food and the service quality diminished, loud noises, cold food, missed order. Especially after 168 and Hanata sushi came into London, we changed our preference.
Last week I went back to Wonder sushi and surprisingly it has improved a lot.

We went for AYCE lunch on Saturday, we started with crispy spicy hand rolls, seaweed salad and miso soup along with salmon belly and teriyaki salmon.
The hand rolls were really good. although the seaweed salad could have been fresh, the miso soup was a little bland. We then ordered the maki rolls which were good except that they had a double layer of rice on it.
The sushi was very good and improved especially the bbq eel. Rainbow rolls and black dragon rolls were good.

First of all the order system has changed and they are using tablets to order which was pretty neat
They missed on our salmon belly and they brought it when we were having our icecream. Other than that the service was fine.

They had paper rolls on the sink, so there was basically no dispensing. and it was stinking a bit.

I don’t really like this place. Sushi doesn’t seem that fresh and the overall ambiance isn’t nice at all. It’s not super cheap either.

Lackluster service coupled with average standard food. Definitely not the worst, but considering London’s lack of high quality restaurants, it’s probably one of the better restaurants.

Groupon had a great deal, $ 25 for $ 50 worth of sushi. I mean, who can beat that?! So I went crazy, ordering everything my heart desired and got it delivered. When the sushi came, I found basically every roll disgusting. The salmon was fishy, the tuna roll was sad and one of the rolls was just the crunchy tempura with a little sliver of tuna. I paid for THAT? I felt like I was being trolled

Went for a weekend all you can eat meal. Surprised it was the same price as a weekday lunch all you can eat special. But I guess you get what you pay for. Although the menu didn’t really have all the fixings many all you can eat places have (I guess for lunch the decided against serving «tuna» anything, although I did see it in some of the photos posted here), it did have a smaller, still vast selection for you to enjoy. I wouldn’t say the food was spectacular, nothing felt overly stand out, but it was enough to fill me, and nothing felt overly wrong about the place and it did cover my appetite for another meal.

Arrived for lunch all you can eat sushi.
Seemed to be standard fare with other ethnicities cooking Japanese food.
The quality of the food fell as the meal went on.
The value for the high price is not a great tradeoff.

This is one of the best all-​you-​can-​eat sushi places I’ve been to — a pleasant surprise considering it’s in London, Ontario! The sushi was great and the cooked food was similar to what you’d find at authentic Japanese izakaya restaurants. The best I’d say was the cooked salmon stuffed rice. (I was sure to order it again for round two.) I’d also recommend the fire dragon roll.
I have nothing bad to say about this place. The servers were also very friendly and kept asking if we wanted more. If you’re in London and craving sushi, this is the place to go!

Went here a few weeks back as I was craving sushi and was disappointed.
As you walk through the first set of doors, you see a big sign posting the prices which is a little unsettling. We were seated by the host who seemed to be the owner and was quite friendly. You are given the typical piece of paper to choose what you would like. We ordered and the food came out very quickly. We ordered the typical maki rolls and nigiri and nothing was too spectacular. They do have great takoyaki. Definitely recommend. However, I would let to warn some people here to not order their spicy crispy tuna hand rolls. It was greasy and sushi is not meant to be greasy. Also stay away from their scallops and teriyaki salmon.
This establishment was very clean (noticed the one poor girl in the corner who had to clean all the chairs) and the staff attempts to be friendly. This in itself says a lot, because I’ve been to many AYCE where the staff doesn’t even say a word nor do they smile. I found the price was too high for alright food. I’ve had better AYCE for a more reasonable price. Not everything was bad about this place. They have great takoyaki and awesome mocha ice cream. So good!

I love Wonder Sushi. they have a large selection. The scallops are owesome and the shrimp skewers. The service is the best so far here in London. they are fast and very kind. Sashimi is always fresh and the tenderloin steak is fantastic. It is cheap at the end can have a lot for your money.

I attended Wonder Sushi on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. At the time of my 1pm arrival, the place was about ²⁄₃ full. The restaurant is fairly large, but is split into two rooms by a wall. The larger room was completely full, but the smaller room was empty. The smaller room is the one you enter when you walk in the door, so it was a bit disconcerting to hear a loud restaurant but see no patrons in sight upon entry!
Service: Despite being fairly busy, the servers were quick. Wonder Sushi runs on a system wherein you mark down your selections on an ordering sheet, rather than giving your order to a server. For this kind of restaurant, I think it’s a superior method of order taking and kudos to Wonder for doing it this way. Our food arrived quickly and without any missing orders. The bill also arrived promptly when we asked for it. I know that sounds like it should be normal, but it’s not always a guaranteed thing at AYCE sushi joints. All told, the service was efficient, if a bit cold, but definitely acceptable.
Food: At a busy AYCE restaurant, I’m not expecting top notch food. Quantity over quality is the name of the game. Still, the food was decent overall. The fish was fresh, and the salmon on this day seemed quite good. The egg sushi had the right amount of sweetness, and the chicken teriyaki was tender instead of being grilled into a charred, inedible rock. The maki rolls were made with the proper amount of rice, instead of overloading it in an attempt to make you full. However, the rice itself was undercooked as it more resembled firmer pellets instead of sushi rice. Craftsmanship was sometimes a problem as well, as some rolls were falling apart and/​or irregularly shaped while still on the serving plate. The deep fried tofu and accompanying sauce were tasteless.
Overall, Wonder Sushi is a decent AYCE sushi restaurant. There’s nothing spectacular about it, and nothing horribly wrong either. These types of restaurants are formulaic, and Wonder Sushi follows the formula to a T.
