History

Established in 1962.

Martin van der Pauw established Triple Tree on April 7^th, 1962. With an orchard background from Holland, Martin decided to focus on Fruit Trees in the early days. This is what inspired the name «Triple Tree» — when planting fruit trees you follow the «triple tree» rule: 2 trees for cross-​pollination and 1 tree to protect the fruit from harsh winds. This was particularly true of orchards back in Holland where no hills or mountains exist to help buffer fruit trees from the winds pouring off the Atlantic.

Over the 50 years of operation we’ve developed into a full service garden center specializing in unique conifers and Japanese maples, pond supplies, and high-​end home décor. We pride ourselves on good old-​fashioned helpful and friendly customer service!

He’s always on the move — you’ll most likely find him right in the thick of things near the cashier desk or wherever the customers are hanging out! He’s been involved with the business since its establishment on April 7^th 1962 (his 7^th birthday!). His life and his passion — he still has fun every day he comes to work at Triple Tree.
