History

Established in 1975.

Conrad’s Barber Shop was started in 1975 by Conrad Marshall after he saw the need for a black barbershop in Scarborough; it has been a pillar in the community since then. The first shop was opened in Scarborough on Lawrence Ave E, after many years of being in business and realising the success, a second shop was opened on Midland Ave. The first shop was subsequently closed but still uses the Conrad’s Barber Shop name.

The Midland Ave location was closed due to demographic changes. In 1998, his Son, Conrad Jr. decided to branch out on his own and opened a shop using the Conrad’s Barber shop name because he knew the important role the previous shops played in the community. Thanks to a great customer base the business has grown to 2 locations in the greater Toronto area.

Meet the Business Owner

Conrad M.

Business Owner

Conrad Marshall Sr. was born in New Jersy, U.S.A. He then moved to Canada at A young age with his mother and two siblings. Conrad attended junior high school (Zion Heights Junior High) and graduated from L’amoreaux collegiate institute in the city of Toronto with aspirations of attending university. This all changed when his father requested that he follows in his footsteps and become a barber. Conrad decided that it was the best thing to do at the time, in 1987, he started pursuing his interest in barbering, by earning his hairstyling license from George Brown College. He still works as a barber and currently owns two barbershops in the greater Toronto area.

Conrad resides in Markham with his wife and two children.
