History

Established in 2008.

Markham Garage Doors was founded by Chris Dale and Kevin Chappel, both of whom graduated from university in the class of ’99 with a Business Degree. Chris Dale grew up loving everything mechanical. He loved working with his hands and always wanted to figure out how everything worked, which usually resulted in tearing things apart and rebuilding them. Kevin grew up loving architecture, drawing, and collecting. His obsession for design, innovation, and perfection was setting him up for success in his career.

Chris and Kevin met in high school and became friends. High school led to University and that led to the work force. Chris graduated and was looking for work, not sure what was the best fit as he loved hands on work. He got a job with a garage door company and requested to learn the installation end of the business. Chris learned quickly and enjoyed the mechanics of residential and commercial installations. He moved from installs to sales and enjoyed meeting new people daily, teaching them the differences between doors and installation practices. Still within the same company he moved indoors to VP of operations where he organized the daily routines of the technicians, controlled the purchasing of inventory, and researched new products. As much as he loved learning every aspect of the business, Chris always wanted to own a business of his own.
