Specs and Suns

Excellent selection of modern frames and very sweet and efficient service. Pacific mall is overflowing with glasses shops, to the point that it’s hard to judge which one should be the one for you.
I shopped around quite a bit, and in the end felt the styles and services at Specs and Suns was most appealing to me. The style definitely leans towards more modern, minimal, fashion forward. They also used to be an Optic 88 shop, which was my preferred glasses shop in NYC as well. Comparable prices to other shops, if you’re looking at similar brands and quality.
Excellent customer service. I was only in town for a short time and needed my glasses finished within the week. However the frame colour I wanted had to be ordered from the warehouse in Montréal so there was some worry whether the order could be filled in time. They offered to make the order anyway, and took my CC info, but would only charge me if they could deliver the finished glasses within a week. I thought it was very flexible of them. In the end I got my new glasses within 5 days.
Super satisfied with the quality and service. I will definitely be back to order my next pair.

The staff here are very nice! They were friendly and very accomodating. The girl who helped me asked me what I was looking for in regards to frames and then proceeded to pick out a bunch that fit the description. After trying on a few she would give me more according to my comments such as «these are too big etc». She was patient and not pushy at all. She also provided me with some feedback as to how the frames looked which was good.
I also found out they carry SALT frames — which are really difficult to find. I’ll definitely be coming back for an updated pair of frames in a couple years!

There are a ton of cut-​price opticals in Pacific Mall, but I always come to 88 Optical even though the prices aren’t great here (hint: you can haggle, sometimes down to 30% off… unfortunately not as much as the others who seem to go down to 50%)
The owner is great, and his staff is generally quite attentive. The store also has all sorts of cutting edge styles here (the last time I passed by, some Cutler and Gross thick frames with a newspaper finance pages pattern to it. Awesome.)
