History

Established in 2004.

The Low Carb Grocery originally opened in Toronto as a little store on Yonge street. In those days, we largely served customers in the local neighborhood.

In 2005, our website was launched — back in those days, selling online was new for a lot of businesses. The business grew rapidly both in-​store and online as customers either found us on the website and visited our store, or completed their purchase online.

In 2008, we outgrew the Yonge St. location and relocated to a much larger facility in Markham, ON, which is just outside Toronto. Actually, Toronto is just a 20 minute walk away! This location allowed us to handle larger volumes of online orders and provided better parking for our in-​store customers.

In 2013, we were at capacity again for our Markham location and rather than growing/​relocating — we opened a beautiful new store in Vancouver, BC so that all our western Canada customers could receive faster service while providing capacity for our operations.

I’ve always had an interest in health and wellness. Growing up, my eating habits led me to be on the larger side. In my 20’s, like most other women, I experimented with many different diet programs and found that mostly all of them were effective… but low carb diets were by far the simplest to follow and stay on. Other diets required a lot of calorie counting or cutting back on tasty foods and therefore, were difficult to maintain for the long term.

Regular breads, crackers, cookies, pastas (etc…) are of course off limits for low carb dieters. Great low carb versions are available but hard to find — or, you had to go to many stores to get them all. At The Low Carb Grocery, we’ve tried to bring all of the world’s best low carb foods into one place.

Low Carb is a lifestyle for me and I enjoy a lot of the products sold through my own store. I’m a mother of 3 and my husband helps me with the business. We are blessed with amazing staff who have been the key our growth and success.
