Mindful Behaviors is a dog training service in the centre of Milton, that uses force-free, science-based positive reinforcement training following the teachings of Karen Pryor. We offer group classes for puppies and older dogs as well as puppy play groups. To tackle behaviour issues we offer private behaviour modification packages. Our training focuses on coaching you to become a skillful trainer for your dog. You will be trained by a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP).
History
Established in 2010.
Mindful Behaviors was established in October 2010 after I completed my education as Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP). The company started as offering private behaviour consultations to pet owners, ranging from puppy training, good manners to solving problem behaviours. Since January 2012 we have been proud to offer group classes at BauHound Haus in Milton, ON.
Meet the Business Owner
Mirkka K.
Business Owner
I started training dogs in 2002 in Finland and realized the power of positive reinforcement compared to others. With my working dog Dea we trained obedience, tracking and search and rescue. We competed successfully in tracking, search and rescue, obedience and Rally obedience trials both in Finland and in Canada. My current dog is a co-owned Australian shepherd Forbes, who I’m preparing for tracking and Rally. My PhD degree in biochemistry and education as a research scientist have helped me in developing an analytical and systematical approach to dog training. What I am particularly attracted to in clicker training is that everything is based on scientific data on how animals learn. In 2010 I decided to take my education as a dog trainer to the next level by attending the Karen Pryor Academy
