History

Established in 2010.

Welcome to Iron Lotus Yoga, our studio has been created, designed and built to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

The building itself was an old garage which we rescued and turned into a beautiful, warm studio for all to enjoy. From the walls to the floor, we used mostly reused & recycled materials. We even decided to put all this rain we get in beautiful BC to some use! The rain water collected on the roof actually flushes the toilet! The bathroom sink sits on an old fallen tree & the stones on the floor are from a nearby river. Our Wellness room and studio floors were left over building materials found on Craigslist. The beautiful door that we welcome all of you through is over 110 years old and made of sold fir. Our interior doors were reclaimed from the old Vancouver Granville St. Hotel. The roof top railings have been up-cycled from an old farm house’s windows. As you can see our studio has been created with love for the environment, community and all who enter our space.

Meet the Business Owner

Laura S.

Business Owner

Hi my Name is Laura & I have grown up in Mission BC. I worked as a care aid with special needs people for 6 years. It was the most amazing and rewarding experience having the opportunity to work and learn from these special and unique individuals. They taught me so much about life, strength and love. Through my experiences working as a care aid I realized that our health, both physically and mentally, is of the uppermost importance and is nothing to take lightly. When I was forced to quit my job and re-evaluate my life, it was very scary, I found myself turning back to my yoga practice. After a lot of soul searching, I decided that I wanted to become a yoga instructor. I took my training at Prana Yoga Teacher College with Shakti & from there traveled to India where I trained with some wonderful Guru‘s & had many amazing experience. I believe yoga is a way of life & we never stop learning or growing on our journey through it, you have never learn it all when it comes to life or yoga
