White Party @ the AGM

This was my first Unilocal event! And a great one at that.
The parking and location of the building was kind of tricky but some useful tips from fellow helpers definitely helped.
The art was very interesting to see, there was a range of mediums, from paintings to sculptures to photography. I loved how there was a actual artist present painting the people at the event. I thought that was a great touch.
Peelee island and black oak brewery were offered as refreshments. Both of them had a great local vibe to them and tasted fresh. I enjoyed the peelee island wine the most.
The people are Galitos chicken were great! They were very friendly and even walked around to ask people and make sure the food was good. The chicken was delicious as were the sides of potatoes and rice.
Everything was great! The only complaint I have is it got too crowded at one point and there was no where to stop over and eat. The items of food we were given required two hands at one point so you definitely needed to have a bar table to set your food down and use two hands to eat!
But otherwise it was great! I loved the white theme and that a majority of the people followed the theme. Everyone was super friendly and I can’t wait for my next event!

The art was amazing here!
The building was a bit tricky to find but it was beautiful inside and I really enjoyed looking at the art pieces.
The three types of beer here were also REALLY good!
The woman working there was so knowledgeable and friendly. She taught us a lot and really seemed to be enjoying what she was doing!
The wine and the food were pretty good too.
I was impressed with the lady who was sketching the scene right in front of us, that was neat!
Overall, a fun event.

Lots of fun on a very chilly winter’s eve. Loved discovering a new place I had never heard of before (as most others at the event). Any excuse to dress up is always fun in my books! Craft beer, great wine, tasty bites, cool art, and great company — good times!

Another wonderful unique Unilocal experience. Finally got to see a different side of Mississauga.
Can always count on Kris to keep the GTA Elites happy. Already looking forward to the next event!

Kris did a great job in bringing together three of my favourite things in the world; the colour white, food and art! :)
It was an unique event space where visitors can appreciate the various artwork at the Art Gallery of Mississauga. The piece of work I had responded to the most was the black sculpture of a face with piercing blue eyes. It’s multifaceted surfaced reminded me of the diversity of people.
It was wonderful to see Unilocalers from the GTA! It was a great way to spend your birthday! Thank you again Kris!

This was a bit of a different event. It was really fancy/​schmancy with the «all-​white» theme. Overall, this was a great party as it showcased an Art Gallery that isn’t too well known, an alternative to Nando’s Chicken (Galito) and some wine and beer.
With regards to the AGM itself, it’s the smallest public gallery in all of Canada, however they do lots of exhibitions outside as well (e.g. they are doing one in the Glen Erin area right now). However, I thought they could have spent more time explaining the art to us and the history of the gallery. Overall, still great event!

2015 started off awesome with Unilocal at the White Party hosted by the Art Gallery of Mississauga.
I enjoyed meeting the new people who recently were promoted to Elite, reminding me of the time when I first joined and felt out of place. I made sure to welcome them and bring them into the fold as we will surely see them a lot more in the coming year. Hopefully, they will soon make as many friends as I have through Unilocal,because we are awesome and witty, and we know our foods! :)
*ahem* I was able to speak to the curator Tina of the AGM and was glad to know that the art gallery regularly hosts different works of art that are rotated every few months, keeping things new and fresh. The space is also available for private events such as seminars, yoga classes, and perhaps even smaller intimate weddings.
The AGM hosting space was beautiful, and I can definitely see how it could be transformed into a small magnificent gala or perhaps a wine tasting event, along those lines.
Of note, the food vendor for the evening was Galitos Flame Grilled Chicken which brought along a very tasty spicy hot sauce that goes great on white meat, like their Portuguese chicken! They were gracious enough to offer me a bottle to take home to sample, and I’ve been raving about it to my family and friends. I will definitely be checking out their locations in the GTA!
And finally, a big thank you to Kris, for continually reinventing Unilocal Elite events in the GTA! I cannot wait what you have in store for 2015, good sir!

It’s becoming clear that Kris U, our CM extraordinaire, is doing his best to ensure that us GTA elites get our fair share of culture. If he keeps this up we will all be sipping champagne with one pinky perched high in the air while expounding on the stylistic differences of the three tenors.
In all seriousness though, this was a great event to kick off the New Year, I for one can’t wait for everything else our fearless leader has in store. The venue was absolutely awe-​inspiring and fit the theme of «white party» perfectly.
A special thanks to Galito’s for feeding us some spicy, South African inspired chicken and sides. Their hot sauce will haunt my dreams, I foresee myself going through a few bottles of it in the very near future. With Black Oak brewery and Pelee Island Winery providing the libations, I was one happy Unilocaler.
Awesome event, I can’t wait for the next one! Until next time, you stay classy GTA

A night in White at the Art Gallery of Mississauga… I didn’t even know Mississauga had its own art gallery? An interesting cool space in heart of Mississauga. I am glad Kris (our awesome CM!) chose a location that was off the norm of Unilocal events.
I attended with a first time attendee (my dad) who apparently didn’t get the memo about being dressed in white. He took his own style and dressed all in black. He remarked that he kinda felt like Darth Vader and we were all his Stormtroopers… lol. We were treated to different tastings from Pelee Island Winery, Black Oak brewery and Galito’s Chicken.
Some of my highlights of the night were… I found my new summer patio wine (Blanc de Blanc Vidal Chardonnay)…a great new IPA from Black Oak Brewery. a new appreciation for HOT Piri Piri sauce. my dad almost tripping on a $ 12 500 dollar bundle of sticks… wondering if I can take a video of video of eggs in a basket and sell it for $ 1000 bucks. wondering where the garbage was…
All in all it was great seeing some old faces and meeting some new ones. hope to see everyone at the next event.

An introduction to the AGM that I never knew existed. Thank you, Kris. I am a fan of art, and I always make my way to Toronto to do galleries and museums — never thought to look in Mississauga, but now I do!
This was a unique event and I am not used to its kind, but I really enjoyed it for several reasons:
1. A lot of people followed the white dress code inclusive of myself and the +1, which is pretty neat.
2. Pelee wines were spectacular — I tried both the Chardonnay and the Riesling. I love whites and these didn’t disappoint. I have to visit Pelee now!
3. Galitos — the chicken was too tough and cold, but the potatoes, rice and the yummy mild sauce are reasons enough to make me want to go back.
4. Art — it’s sad that art receives little support, and being from a FA background myself, I am glad that Kris, along with Unilocal and the other partners showed theirs.

White on white on white…
The White Party @ the Art Gallery of Mississauga was a great way to start the new year. It was nice to see some familiar faces, and it was fun meeting a few new faces.
The art gallery, although small, had a nice display of various art pieces, all of which were quite interesting and creative. I mean, who would ever think of using lint to make art? It was a fun first visit to the AGM, and it’s great to learn that they offer yoga classes every month, and they are hosting a yoga event this weekend!
Galito’s served chicken kebobs, peri roasted potatoes and peri rice. The chicken kebobs were a bit cold, but the garlic sauce totally made up for it, along with the potatoes and the rice. As for drinks, I tried Pelee Island Winery’s Lighthouse Riesling and it was quite refreshing.
Thank you, Kris, for another great Elite event! Thank you to everyone at the AGM for the art experience, Galito’s for the food, as well as Pelee Island Winery and Black Oak Brewery for the drinks!

UnilocalGTA’s first Elite event of 2015 has us out in Mississauga at the Art Gallery of Mississauga (AGM).
As we walk into the main gallery space, we’re offered «samples» from Black Oak Brewing and Pelee Island Winery. Adding that touch of class to this event. I went the entire evening without a drink because I didn’t feel like consuming any alcohol and was having too much fun inside to head outside the gallery for the water fountain.
The AGM is lovely space for such an event, no wonder we’re all dressed in white. The only problem for me to dress in white is, I’m not good at keeping it white. I came equipped with my Tide To-​Go pen in case of an emergency. I tried really hard not getting any of Galito’s wonderful chicken, potatoes or rice on myself, but as it turns out, Bernie needed the Tide To-​Go pen more than I did. Oh Bernie!
AGM staff and volunteers were on hand to tell us more about the art and how we can choose our favourite on tablet stations, where the people’s favourite would win a prize even if they didn’t get a prize from the judges.
I had a wonderful time looking at art and talking to friends of old and new! My +1 had such a great time she has joined Unilocal!Look up Lily C.

THIS IS OUR HOUSE!

Wow what a way to start my first Unilocal event of 2015! White on white with spicy sauce on the side. It was great mingling with fellow Unilocalers, vendors and art curators.
The venue was was something that I didn’t know existed in Mississauga! They have some great artwork and interested to see what else they bring in the near future. Being so close to home, it’s definitely something I will have to visit more.
Black oak pale ale was delicious and must give it a try again. And the the whites from pellet estates were exquisite. But to top all of that, the food from Galitos was topper of the night, especially that amazing garlic hot sauce.
Overall, it was a great night! Kudos once again to kris to making us reviewers feel like family and cheers to a great 2015 fellow Unilocalers!

We started our first 2015 GTA Unilocal event full of art and style at Art Gallery of Mississsuga (AGM). It is a great idea especially with the White theme. Everyone wears white, all white, half white or just a bit of white. It just makes the event looking very fresh and stylish!
I think Unilocal events are not always just about food and drinks. It is a classy art event. I am glad to know there is an Art Gallery in Mississauga. Thanks Allison Y for letting me know, I used the on-​the-​spot tablet to vote a few of my favorite art pieces too.
In fact, we have food, wine and beers. Thanks to Galito’s for serving us very good food. The chicken skewers with hot sauce were such a perfect match. Thanks to Pelee Island Winery and Black Oak Brewery for serving us continuously trial size white wine and beers. I am not a heavy drinker, the trial size is just perfect for me:)
I enjoyed meeting and chatting with fellow Unilocalers while exploring the modern arts at AGM. I had a very good evening indeed. Thank you our fantastic CM, Kris U and AGM for organizing such a special and memorable event:)

Black Oak Brewery, Galito’s, & of course, AGM — these were ALL things that the White Party introduced me too. Including wearing white in the middle of Winter and specific wines from Pelee Island!
I’m almost embarrassed to admit this, but I have never step foot inside the AGM. I would see signs for it, but I’d either be at the Civic Centre during off-​hours or the draw to the mall was just more powerful than roaming ’round a government building. Again, I’m happy that such a event opened my eyes to this place which was just under my nose.
Thanks Kris, Black Oak, Pelee, Galito’s, & AGM (& its staff) for introducing me to a night of firsts! After all, that’s what Unilocal is about right? Discovering new places!

I enjoyed this event as it was a little different then «regular styled Unilocal event» and Kudos to Kris for a job well done.
I rushed to get to the place to find out I am in the wrong building as I accidentally went to the living arts centre and bunch of other Unilocalites went there by mistake too.
Theme: The theme of the event was white. Hence, many folks were dressed white which was quite nice… Now we need an all black event! (Kris hint. hint)
Location: was awesome! I didn’t know about the art gallery of Mississauga. I know its sad as I live in Mississauga. Anyhow, the gallery was very nice even though the facility being the smallest in Ontario. The Art Gallery of Mississauga’s staff was very friendly and knowledge about their displayed art and how thing functions. Special thanks to Shellie who walked me through the know hows of the venue and art. The Selection of art was very good and some of the paintings were phenomenal.
Food: The food was provided by Galitos Flame Grilled Chicken. The cuisine was Portuguese, similar to Nandos but better. The hot sauce and Garlic sauce were quite good and went well with their tender juicy chicken skewer, which also came with potatoes and peri rice. The food was quite good and the staff was very friendly. I had good chat with the owner and his son Shah and they were both very knowledge about their chicken! The meat is halal (zabiha by hand).
That sums up a complete package! Awesome kick off event to 2015!

Def. enjoyed my night here with my +2s & hanging out with some awesome elites (new & also dear ones!) at the White Party at the AGM. Loved that there was a dress code. It’s nice to have fun and dig stuff out of the closet :)

Loved the AGM. What a wonderful space. Would be an amazing venue for a wedding reception too. It would look so modern and chic. Yes that’s what I always think about at large event spaces… places for wedding receptions lol
Also enjoyed looking at the pieces around the gallery as well. I couldn’t really pick a favourite though as each has its own beauty. There are definitely some things I wanted to check out at the AGM in the future. The Yogapalooza Black & White & adult art classes! Thanks AGM for the two green paintbrushes. I like to paint w/​my watercolours or w/​tombow markers and it will come very handy :)

My favorite part of the event as with all events is getting together with everybody there. I really enjoy meeting fellow Unilocalers whether we’ve met many times or never before there’s something special about the people you get to know through words.
I enjoy art galleries as well. It’s a treat to visit them as it’s not something I do often but I can say that I truly appreciate art because it is imagination come to life. The Art Gallery of Mississauga is a really nice facility. It’s not as large as I was expected as I’ve never step foot in Mississauga’s civic buildings before. The architecture is truly different.
I remember years ago that Mississauga’s city hall received honors for their design. It’s one of the most unique buildings to serve as a city hall I’ve ever seen.
I had some of the Galito’s food. Not much as I wasn’t hungry but Nada insisted I try some just so I could try the sauce. She twisted my arm with her persuasive ways. It was very good sauce, not too hot but if it was piri piri it’s in line with what I was expecting. The garlic sauce was good as well but I liked the hot sauce better.
I had both the Riesling and chardonnay from Pelee Island. I’m not a big white wine drinker but I did enjoy both tastings. I tasted all 3 of Black Oak’s craft beer selections and I have to say the anniversary is right up my alley. This I will go there to buy and being in Etobicoke that is not out of my way by any means.
While the event had samples and tastings at each station I have to say I wished there was more. I’m just being honest. I do not want to sound ungrateful or greedy. Like I said I wasn’t hungry when I arrived as I ate before I came but I felt there should have been more to drink and not necessarily only alcohol.
Overall the event was good. There were many +1’s and the crowd was sort of large but I enjoyed meeting everybody I could in the time we had together. Everybody seemed to be having a good time and I did too. There is something special when you see the faces of those that you know from before and finally getting to meet some that wanted to meet.
As always I look forward to the next event that I can participate in and I want to thank Kris for hosting as well as the AGM and the sponsors.

Out of the box event: white fashion, white wine and white room! Awesome kick off event to 2015, although it’s the same color as snow it was definitely warm inside tonight. Temperature wise and the people there! Whether it was the AGM people or the ones from Black Oak, everyone was friendly and informative!
Have always wanted to try Galilitos when I’m passing TnT and finally got the chance. Love their hot peri peri sauce for the kick but their garlic sauce is where the flavor is at! Will be heading to their mississauga location soon!
