Came here for dinner en route to Halifax after two days around Alma and Fundy National Park. Ample street parking(I think it was free on weekends???) and great location. The place was clean, you could see into the kitchen from the dining area which is great because I find that businesses are more diligent in keeping the food prep area clean. No complaints about the service — waiting staff were very pleasant and prompt with the menus, beverages and water refills. ss9. Roll Set Japan — $ 15.95 — came with a salmon roll, california roll and dynamite roll — comments: nothing spectacular/memorable, price was fair — 3⁄5 DC3. Japan Go! Bento — $ 20.95 — chicken teriyaki, vegetable tempura, 3 pc of sushi and a california roll — comments: not much chicken for a bento box… for almost $ 21, you would expect to more then a thin cutlet sized amount and something more substantial than a california roll and 3 pieces of sushi. I have had more chicken in a bento box that was $ 16(without compromise of quality) good variety of vegetable tempura(e.g. broccoli, squash). — 3⁄5(yes to the quality but not for the price of what was received) Green tea — the green tea with great because it was Genmaicha(green tea combined with roasted brown rice) but after the first cup and the tea had been steeping in the pot for awhile, it was disgustingly bitter… not ideal considering we had to pay for the green tea(which is typically free at almost all Japanese restaurants I have been to) — Genmaicha should only be steeped for about 1 minute… would have been nice if they provided a small tray/dish to take the tea leaves out after it has steeped for 1 – 2 minutes… it would have prevented the tea from becoming bitter and customers would have the option of pouring more hot water in the pot for more tea. — 1.5÷5

Not the cheapest sushi but certainly not over the top. The rolls were huge and delicious. Got some free add ons. The veggie wonton soup was delicious as well. Service was great and the chef made a point to say hi and thanks to everyone who walked in and out the door. You can tell it’s important to him. It’s sushi… It’s Moncton… Definitely give this place a try!

Outstanding food. Best Japanese food I’ve ever had. Coming from Toronto I didn’t think I’d find another Japanese restaurant that would impress me, but this place went over and above. I went with my family and we ordered the medium boat and finished with some spider rolls to share. The taste of the food was complimented with the artful display that the chefs created. Definitely coming back next time I’m in Moncton.

Ordered the Japan roll set. For 15.95 this is a great deal. 24 pieces of sushi, Californian roll, salmon roll and dynamite roll. All tasted fantastic.

Lovely sushi place in Moncton. The Salmon Lover was perfect for my tastes; sashimi, sushi and maki at a reasonable price.

Japan Go is by far the best Japanese restaurant in Moncton. I have been there twice now with friends and each time there are only good things to say. having lived in Vancouver, Japan Go is the most authentic in décor and experience there is. The service is exemplary. Yuni is amazing, always there when she should be and never there when you don’t. That is the mark of good service in my opinion. The food is wonderful. everything I have tried, from the appetisers and salads, to the tempura and rolls and sashimi, to the delicious salmon in the Moncton bento box, it is all perfection. It is such a pleasure to be able to honestly say good things about an eating establishment. So if you are in the mood for great Japanese, go to Japan Go. You won’t regret the decision.

This is my second favourite sushi spot in moncton, the food is great and you wont be disapointed by the friendly atmosphere. However, i find the music they play strangley out of place. I wish they focused that aspect around the customers. The lighting is very pleasant. As for the food, this isnt the best sushi you will ever taste, but its different than any other place in a positive way. The taste may impress you! The fried sushi actually suprised me, it was done just at my liking. I rate this place 4⁄5 stars and will be returning soon!

Stumbled upon this place while on Unilocal.Best choice ever to come here. The food was superb, and the portion is huge. The owners are super friendly as well, even gave each of us a salad, calamari and roll, as appetizers, all on the house. Must visit if y’all are nearby.

For the east coast, this was pretty good. Sashimi was fresh. Veggie udon was as expected, the veggies were cooked nicely but the stock could be a bit better. The dynamite and California rolls were OK but could have had a bit more prawn and crab respectively. The green tea was with real tea leaves and brown rice(genmaicha) as opposed to a tea bag. The presentation was well done and the service was ok.

Amaaazing! Great service, of course like most Japanese cuisine in NA it was run by Koreans. but that did not seem to diminish the quality and rather without making it too obvious there were some Korean options in the menu, such as Bulgogi and most of their hot dishes were Korean. To start get the Tempura, shrimp, you will not be disappointed! In fact, all of their seafood was very fresh and well prepared. My friend and I shared the Spicy Chicken and the Stone Bowl dish with egg, beef and vegetables. Both very good! The chicken was of good cut and had that moist type of tender taste that only good quality chicken provides. However, we both commented that it was basically drowning in Siracha sauce, which didn’t effect the quality. In fact, the blended it with something which I couldn’t pin-point but however gave it quite a unique taste. I can’t remember the name of my dish but it was the first one on the Hot Main Dish menu and was called the«Stone Bowl… something» but it was basically a bowl of mixed rice, beef, vegetables and a sunnyside-up egg on top. This dish was largely presentation and was skimpy on the beef, but it tasted great regardless! I probably would not get it again. However, the service was very good and it gets a 10⁄10 for ambiance and service. Very friendly hostess and waitress who I tested with Japanese but alas she finally broke down at the end and admitted she was Korean. I didn’t really care, but I’m trying to work on my Japanese. Her English wasn’t great either though. But still very nice! The real story here is THESUSHI! Amaaaazing! In my opinion better than both Osaka Hibachi and Pink Sushi(which is awkwardly right across the street). My friend and I shared the salmon and tuna rolls and again we were both impressed by the quality and tenderness of the cut of fish on both rolls, perfect blend of avocado, shrimp and sesame! All in all a very pleasant dining experience! I’ll be back!

Food was awesome and I won’t hesitate to say that this is one of my favorite sushi and Japanese cuisine restaurant in Moncton. The Japan Go Maki rolls were incredible! The food was very well presented and most importantly, it tasted was amazing. Probably some of the best Sushi/Maki I ever ate. When we were done, the chef even took time to come speak to us. He offered us some Tempura but since we were full so we declined the offer; however, they then offered us complimentary ice cream, I just had to say yes. I picked the Mango ice cream and just like our meal, it was delicious. To conclude: Fabulous food, nice atmosphere, awesome staff and I will definitely come back.

«A great start on the first day. Skip the Bulgogi and hit the Sushi Bar! Give it a shot, and review away Unilocalers!» OK, I’ll admit, I’m a little biased. My office overlooks this location and I’ve anticipated its arrival since early summer to disrupt the comfortable buddy-buddy triad of Pink/DD/Osaka. Sure, the three other sushi locations on Main aren’t terrible, but the prices seem a little high for me. I mean, who pays $ 15 for Bulgogi? I’ll start with the opening-day«Cons» so we can forget them for the rest of the review. First: No Booze, so far. The license hasn’t come in: no idea when it will. That’s fine; down a pint somewhere else before. No sweat. Second: Automatic Paper Towel Dispensers in the bathrooms don’t work. Yeah, that’s nitpicking, but that’s the only other thing worth mentioning. Dinner time: To start, great warm service. Greeted and welcomed effusively, but not in that overly-racist-Kabuki way that others(cough-Osaka-cough) do. Menu, water, and tea flew to the table with smiles all around. After a moment, I order the bento and my already-depleted tea is expediently refilled out of nowhere. The table is set quickly, and I get down to enjoying the smoky Genmaicha that’s burning off the last remnants of the frost outside as I survey the menu. I’ll post pics as soon as this listing’s approved, but it’s heavy on complex rolls and other things. I’m dismayed that my Bulgogi — assumed to be a sweet and not a scorchingly-hot one — is one of only a few Bento on the list. I remind myself to try a roll next time. Miso arrives with two slices of fresh mushroom floating on top. The first sip is hot and satisfying, but without the weak, overly-saline flavour of lazy or cheap Misos elsewhere. I down it. The server, returning momentarily with the spoon she forgot the first time(‘Who needs a spoon for Miso this good?’), effortlessly offers another soup as she refills my tea. «Hit Me!» Very satisfied, I haven’t even thought of my Bento yet. I turn to my phone and when I look up the Bento is flying in. Everything looks good(except for a creamy, nondescript dressing on the salad) so I get to work. Tempura shrimp, yam, carrot, and onion: Delish. Light, crunchy, and not greasy; it delights. 3pc Crab maki: does the trick. There’s no nuance in something like mock crab rolls, but they’re fresh and firm. Onwards! Creamy dressing salad thing???: Veggies are great, iceberg is, well, iceberg, but the dressing is sort-of-like what Mom would make if she was trying to make a better, healthier version of Kraft’s Creamy Cucumber dressing, but missed the mark. It’s not that I hated it, it just reminded me of how much I wished that every Sushi restaurant would do their house dressing like Momoya in Halifax. Oh well, one more of my «five a day.» Bulgogi: Definitely the«sweet» kind. Good portion, rice a little loose, however good flavour. I usually love things spicy-hot but it was still good. Nothing to write home about, but it’s as good as it gets in this ‘hood. Treat: A couple of chunks of perfectly-ripe pineapple on a skewer. Great way to end the Bento, and fill up that fifth compartment. BUTWAIT, THERE’S MORE! Plate cleared, tea and water refilled, and left to my own devices I returned to my fondleslab to check the news. My lovely server returned with a treat in a dish. «Is she showing me what I should have ordered instead» I wondered? «Special opening treat;» she said«Would you like to try the Salmon Pizza?» I thought I was full before. It looked delicious, and I acquiesced. PERFECTION! Although smaller than what they sell as a main on the menu, I was in heaven. Frankly, if they sold this same size as a tapas-size appetizer I’d be here weekly once they get the liquor situation straightened out for a pint and a bite after work. A deliciously-crunchy rice patty sitting on top of a just-spicy-enough mayo sauce and draped with salmon and perfectly-ripe avocado slices spotted with roe: Perfect. 6 pieces of spicy, warm-and-simultaneously-cool crunchy-salty-goodness ended the meal wonderfully. I’m not biasing my review because of this delicious gift, but rather instead of it; they were heading to 4.5 territory for great service and cheap, good food on their first day open, but the fact that this came out of the kitchen for free means I had to bump it down to a 4 so I don’t inflate the rating after the mirth of this final plate. That said, I’m *definitely* trying more of the rolls/specialties when I’m in next so they can have time to get their Bulgogi on steady ground. Salmon Pizza FTW! Oh, and did I say that after everything my hearty Bento, pre-tax, was less than $ 9. Yeah, I’m coming back. Miscellaneous: Clean, modern bathrooms(a marvel!). Great service. Nice décor, and dimming the lights will give the place great ambience whenever they find that switch. TL;DR: Cheap, fresh, well-made, hearty. Great service, good variety, cheap. Needs booze, and a spell check on the menu. Did I say cheap? Cheap.
