Love this spot — I’m come regularly for the blueberry ale(yet to taste another, like it!). Don’t bother with the fish’n’chips, NOWFROZEN generic battered fish — YUK. Used to be the best pub battered fish. And to add to the disgust was the soggy pub cut fries, which should automatically come crispy. Sounds like June 19 lunchtime the chefs were snoozin I give it a 3⁄5 just for the blueberry beer and it as an an awesome spot, for this visit.

I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the booths in this place. The beer was good. The food was great and fairly reasonably priced. My steak was completely on point. Service was great, the waiter knew his stuff .Can’t wait to go back.

I had supper tonight at the Pump House. The Pump House Brewery was opened as a brewpub in downtown Moncton in 1999 by Shaun Fraser and his wife, Lilia. They debuted in style on New Year’s Eve with the first new beer of the Millennium. The brewpub grew so popular that expansion was necessary. In July 2002, a brewing/bottling plant was built outside the city centre and production began in the same year. The Pump House made a huge splash during its first appearance at the annual Canadian Brewing Awards in 2005. The brewery captured nine medals in six different categories, included in this were six gold and three bronze. By gaining the first spot in both gold and total tally, Pump House won the coveted title of Canada’s «Brewery of the Year». The Awards are currently the only contest in Canada that invites breweries of every size from all parts of the country to compete against each other in a blind tasting and see who truly brews the best in the land. They brew some of their onsite. You can buy some to take home. I had couple pints of the Blueberry Ale … it was good! I ordered a Meat Lovers pizza. It’s made in a wood-fired oven. It was a good pizza. The sauce wasn’t too sweet. There are dipping oils on the tables with herbs … I especially liked the spicier one. Isabelle was my server. She was friendly and helpful and took good care of me.

The martini rim was too damn salty. The 4 alarm brrr tasted like ass and the maple beer tasted like shit. Other than that the service was great

This restaurant is one of the few places open really late. The menu has the usual pub fare, with a smattering of surprise items, like the baked brie and croque monsieur(maybe the latter should not be a surprise). We had the mussels(very fresh tasting), garlic fingers(as good as always, though a bit small), and fish and chips(very, very good fish, deplorable once fried mushy fries). The fish was thick and flaked beautifully. It was almost juicy when I bit into it. It goes without say that the fried batter was perfect. I don’t remember having it this good in recent memory. Excellent. Service was great. The server was always prompt and friendly. Only other thing to mention is that soda refills are not free here. Def a recommend.

I generally like this place, but don’t get the poutine, it is shredded cheese, not curds. The price was reasonable, the beer is great, the staff is fairly friendly. Purchased the burger that ate moncton and it was amazing. Also had a fountain pop in addition to my beer and there was no refills, but for 3.00 for fountain pop. Yea…

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAMAZING! To say the least. Great microbrewery, the beer is some of the best I’ve had. Everyone rave’s about the blueberry ale, listen to them it’s a nice fruity ale. I love my spicy food and I love my wings so I went with the XXX wings. Just the right amount of kick for me, however if you can’t handle your spice I wouldn’t try them as it says no returns! The wings themselves aren’t huge which I prefer, They’re lightly breaded and fried perfectly for a nice crisp in every bite. If you can’t handle the XXX hot wings I strongly suggest another flavour. I’ve eaten A LOT of wings in my day from MANY different places and after some long hard thought I’d have to say these delicious little bast@$ds take the cake! Have a pint of the blueberry ale for me, cheers!

Pumphouse is a great place to meet with friends, great atmosphere — I am not a fan of their craft beers but that’s ok — they have lots of others to choose from and the wood fire pizza’s are excellent!

Stopped for a late meal and beer. Service was fast and the Octoberfest meal was excellent. Blueberry beer was good. A live one piece band with contemporary music.

This place has what is possibly the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. On vacation I do my homework on Unilocal and almost never eat at the same place twice in one trip, but after trying the Burger That Ate Moncton I was determined to go back again the next day to have another. I guess if you’re a purist, it may be cheating to add pork to a burger as a topping, but the end result was beyond my expectations. The beers here are good as well. They brew their own, right inside the dining room against the wall. I really enjoyed both the Special Old Bitter(S.O.B.) and the Scotch Ale. The Blueberry Ale was fine, but too sweet for me a third of the way through even though the blueberry flavor is quite subtle. If I’m ever in Moncton again, I will be absolutely sure to come back here for that burger, even if I have to fit it in between other meals.

One of those timeless pubs where you meet your good old friends for a quick bite and a good drink. Food and drinks are both affordable is tasty – which is a rare occurrence. Food menu consists mostly of regular pub fare, with a night menu that goes until late at night for the hungriest of you. Most items are priced around $ 10 or less – with an «appetizer» pizza(10″ size), as advertised on the late night snack menu, you can be full. Even though food is cheap and palatable, the main attraction is definitely the beer that is brewed on-site. Apart from the staples, than range from the lightest ale to the strongest stout, seasonales are worth the try. I got the Blueberry Ale, which even came with actual blueberries in my pint glass! For those who are seeking affordable but quality beers, the Pump House also sells boxes to bring home and enjoy. During summer time, make sure to arrive early enough to secure a spot on the patio, located on a quiet street downtown Moncton. Best casual bar in Moncton. Would come back anytime I need a casual hangout spot!

I recently got a chance to have supper at the Pump House while vacationing in the Moncton area with friends. There were chain family-type restaurants that were much closer but I suggested to the group that we take the longer trip to downtown Moncton for a place that would have a bit more soul. It was a hot Sunday night and we were pretty famished after a day of hiking, and packing up our camp site, so I was looking forward to some better than average pub-food and locally brewed beer. I called in advance and the staff said they wouldn’t take reservations but we shouldn’t have a long wait for a group our size. We got there and the place was really busy but true to the server’s word we only had to wait less than 10 minutes before we had our choice of place to sit: a large table or a «barrel” — which is a round table inside a huge semi-circular former cask. The barrel was a hit with the kids so went picked the latter. The server appeared and drop off colouring books & crayons for the kids which was great initiative on her part. All in all, The service was efficient and friendly even considering how busy our server looked. The drinks and food also arrived fairly quickly. I wish I had a better report on the food After reading all the good reviews about the pizza it was tough choice but I ended up trying the buffalo«devil’s backbone» burger with a salad. The burger was very dry and for $ 14 I expected it to be a bit larger. If there was a peppercorn crust or smoked cheese as promised in the menu I couldn’t taste it. The Caesar salad was dressed way too much and very«wet». I nibbled some of my companion’s fries and while they tasted pretty good were obviously frozen. The biggest disappointment was the beer; I first tried the Scotch Ale and was looking forward to the smokey flavour. I found it really watery, almost devoid of taste. I almost sent it back as I figured there must have been something off with it or the tap. Cringing from the disappointment I next sought comfort in the Stout and found it a bit better than the Scotch Ale but not by much. I guess I am spoiled with the craft beer in Halifax but I was not encouraged to try any brews from the Pump House again. I had been meaning to try this place and glad I could cross it off my list but too bad the food and drink couldn’t have impressed me more.

We were on a desperate search for something to eat in downtown Moncton, which was pretty difficult after 10:00 p.m. on a Tuesday. We went to another place, but they had stopped serving food. When we asked for a suggestion as to where to go that still serves food, the server suggested the Pump House. The husband and I both got pizzas off the limited late night menu. They are personal size and made to order. This really hit the spot for our late night meal. The beer here was great. They have their own house made beers on draft. I tried the blueberry ale which was not too fruity and very refreshing.

The atmosphere with a working brewery is interesting. The décor or older wooden floored pub is inviting if the room is large. The food is almost all grilled and greasy. Avoid if you are trying to avoid fats, sugars and a heart attack. She had nondescript chicken. I had Greek Salad with salmon — the salad was vinegary and not edible. The salmon was grilled and dripping in grease.

Scotch ale! Scotchy scotchy scotch ale. Black, scotchy reminiscent of irish stout yummy scotch oaky yummy beer. Oh yeah and the burger that ate moncton. Not to friggen bad. $ 13 for a burger and fries, but it’s a big-ass burger, 4 big slices of bacon, PULLEDPORK!!! and all the rest of the toppings. Nicely cooked. We had a group of 12 made a reservation and were seated early 6 o’clock. Beer came fast and the food did too. Service was quick, friendly and the staff were attentive to our needs(crackers and fries out super fast for cranky babies). All positives there… except, my wife, always gets shafted somehow when we go out for dinner, probably because she orders stuff the place isn’t known for, eg. Calamari. The calamari sucks. Don’t order it. It comes to the restaurant pre-cut, frozen, and is not true calamari. I used to cook in a restaurant and make calamari from scratch. It’s so easy, there’s no reason to either to this or take it off the menu. HOWEVER! Every friggen where else that has calamari does this too, so i’m not surprised. But shit, i’m bitching about calamari I didn’t even order at a brewery. A place that’s known for making BEER. Not fried squid. So, ya git what ya git. Next time drink more beer, don’t bring babies and tell the wife to order a goddamn hamburger.

Un must à visiter.

I believe this is an old brewery as the name suggests. They have a great range of beers on tap and in bottles. My favorite to date(i have time to go back and try some different ones!!!) is the Blueberry Ale, which is actually served with a handful of blueberries dropped into the beer! Absolutely loved it. They have made booths out of old brewing barrels and it is a really effective twist on a booth. The food was very good considering that when you read the menu it is the usual selection of burgers, pizza, salads etc. The portion size was spot on and the quality of the food was good very tasty. I did spy they had some good looking deserts but I did not have the time to stay to sample them. when i go back to test some other beers I will make time for the deserts ;) The service was quick polite and once your order was in they popped back every so often to check on things. If you are in downtown Moncton and are in need of food and drink you could do worse than trying the pump house. P. S. The white ‘pots’ which hang around the bar are the mugs used by the 285 regulars who have paid $ 20 for the pot and then $ 2 a month to rent the peg the mug hangs from. These mugs hold more than the glass which you are served your beer in and if you drink two a visit you actually get a whole other drink free which compensates for the $ 2 peg rental… If only I wasn’t going back to the UK soon

Popped in here just before closing recently after I’d gotten into town on a late flight. They were willing to fire up some food for me even though they were just about ready to shut down, and the bartender also diligently sampled an array of beers for me. And the beers here are surprisingly good. I still haven’t gotten over the fact that their blueberry ale has real bits of blueberries in it; that aside, it still convincingly blends blueberry flavor with that of a proper ale. I also enjoyed the scotch ale, the Muddy River stout, and the seasonal pumpkin ale. There’s lots of room to spread out here, whether at the bar, some traditional, smaller tables in the front, and some larger booths in the back. There are also large screens playing sports everywhere. A very dependable choice in Moncton’s charming downtown area.
