Quick, fast, efficient, and great value. Stopped by for a haircut mid-way through the day and was out in 20 minutes.

I recently visited this downtown men’s barber shop on a spring Saturday afternoon. It was my first and most likely last visit. The shop contains four barber chairs manned by four barbers. Three of the chairs were already occupied so there was no wait for my haircut. I was immediately seated and served. While seated, from the corner of my eye I spotted a pile of magazines with an issue of Playboy on top(usually a good sign of old school barbershops). There was an old man in the first chair who bragged relentlessly throughout the time I was there about Montréal, all the money he made here in his life and all the people that he knew, he literally never shut up and it became annoying. Who knows, perhaps it affected the barber and the haircut he gave me. Usually I judge a haircut by the way it settles in. I expected much more from the haircut I received. For starters, the barber took too much hair off the top and back. This was after I made clear exactly what I wanted done. Additionally, the left side was cut unevenly. As a result, my hair stands up on top and has not settled in properly. One of the only things I liked about this haircut was that he used the straight-edged razor on the sideburns and back. In total, the cost of the haircut was $ 18, tip not included. While this was not the worst haircut I ever had, it definitely was not one of the best. I was expecting much better.

I have been coming here since I moved to Montréal in 2003. A real authentic men’s barbershop complete with jars of green disinfectant and a spinning barber pole out front. 10 minutes in and out for $ 18 bucks + tip. They do your sideburns with a straight razor. No thumping disco. No dudes in leather pants and cowboy hats. Football(soccer) on TV and a stack of Playboy’s in case you have to wait. Love this place.

Very efficient and courteous barbershop. I was in Montréal on vacation and badly needed a haircut. My haircuts are pretty simple as in if you can shave it to a clean cut«1» then it’s hard to screw it up. I was helped by Ahmed I believe and he did a great job with a nice even cut and lineup. I recommend them if you are near the St Catherine around Concordia.

Finding a new barber is always difficult, especially because there are so few reviews for standard, regular, decently-priced businesses that cut hair on Unilocal – average barbers – the reviews on here to tend be of higher-end shops, where more is at stake, and the regular clientele of old neighbourhood shops might not always realize the value in advertising what seem to be neighbourhood institutions. Albanese Salon de Barbier is probably the best barber shop I have ever been trimmed at. I have had my hair cut by both of the younger guys that work toward the front of the shop on a couple occasions. Their attention to detail is impeccable and impressive. It’s simply quality, classic work. While they sometimes cut the top shorter than I like, it always looks good, which I think suggests a level of underlying skill: it’s not what I wanted, but I’m happy just the same. The guys are friendly and helpful. Given the amount of time they put into getting your hair«just right,» it’s an incredible value for $ 17.(Especially in the context of a nearby barber that offers a student discount – it might be six bucks cheaper, but it looks even cheaper than that.) Wonderful, excellent, five stars for sure.

A perfect, no-nonsense barber shop. My barber was friendly, skilled, and perfectly bilingual. Wait time was nil, which very much surprised me on a sunny Saturday at 3pm. Basic cut costs $ 17, so an even $ 20 made for an easy tip.
