History

Established in 2001.

Atelier d’Art des Rapides is a private art studio and school founded by Susan Nimbley in 2001. What started as a «once a week workshop» for adults, has grown to a full teaching schedule that includes classes for adults, teens, and children. There is also a special weekend workshop for intellectually challenged students and students with special needs.

Business Owner

Visual artist & master portraitist Susan Nimbley works with pastels, acrylics and mixed media techniques. Painting from life is her first choice, although her works are equally notable when using photographic or film references.

A well known ‘plein-​air’ painter and inspirational teacher with a reputation for excellence, she has garnered several artistic awards and honorable mentions, including Le pinceau d’or”, «Le pinceau d’argent» and «Le pinceau de bronze» (2003 – 2010)

A member of several art societies, including ART (Artistes Realistes des Terrasses), AAL (Association des Artistes de LaSalle) and PSEC (Pastel Society of Eastern Canada) and formerly on the Board of Directors of the Henri-​Lemieux Cultural Centre, the LaSalle Artists Association and the Conseil Franco-​Québécois de la culture between 1999 – 2005

Susan’s art can be found in various private and public collections in Canada as well as abroad. She is the founder and artistic director of Atelier d’Art des Rapides.
