Coiffure Carlos Manuel Sanchez

I’ve got thick, unruly hair that needs taming more than anything. I have had hairdressers claim to be able to cut curly hair only to see them botch it and countless more have tried to sell me on some 100 $ product that will do miracles to tame my fro, puhleeze. My friend Val, who always has the most fabulous hair, introduced me to Carlos a few months ago and I have never looked back.
Carlos has his own salon and he gets you comfy and has you laughing within seconds. Instead of shaming me for dry ends like most stylists did, he makes me feel beautiful even if I’ve just walked in from the rain and cold. With a glass of wine in my hand, we chat about what i want, how much work I am willing to invest on a daily basis (umm try none!) and he gets to work.
Getting your hair done here isn’t just a sit there and wait to see how you look kind of experience; you may be asked to stand up, lean back, turn your head over at some point, but trust me, Carlos knows what he is doing. I am always sad when it’s done as I want to keep talking, but he always indulges me in my need to take a selfie with him to send to my boyfriend, so bonus points for that!
My hair is finally growing and I receive sooo many compliments on my hair. His cuts last a long time and he’s got good hours as well. I almost don’t want to write this review as I don’t want him to become too popular: P

It happened on a visit to Newtown over 9 years ago. I was visiting some friends who were working there at the time and the one thing that stood out was their hair, they all looked amazing and I suspected it was no coincidence. So after asking I was told they all used the services of a Carlos Manuel Sanchez, I booked an appointment and that’s how I met the man that became my hairdresser.
He has changed places 3 times over the years but is now on St Denis in a very cute second floor salon. He works alone so you really get a one on one experience, wine is often served, the music is according to your mood. He is not just a hair dresser but a true stylist, he does your hair according to what looks best, what you lifestyle is, and your moods. He is always flying off to europe to attend seminars, his love for his passion is so obvious, you cannot help but get caught up in his enthusiasm.
His is not a run in run out type place and I have been known to have my exaperated hubby call to find out Are you almost done. you have been gone for 4 hours… ok I’ll admit the two of us together might be a bit much as we have so much fun, but perfection takes time. I always suggest to friends I send his way (and I have many times), to pick a me day and head over there with no time restrictions, then sit back and let him make you look and feel amazing.
He does hair for both men and women and while he may be on the pricey side, no one I know has ever been disappointed and all have heard many comments about their new do’s, so call him up, (he is not always easy to book), so allow some time.
