If you asked me till recently about a bad courier service in Montréal, I would immediately answer DHL Now after dealing with FedeEx Canada, I realized what worst service ever means! Here is my story with the boring details I woke up one morning to a phone call from fedex representative asking me to pay customs for a gift I was sent from USA I was not pleased that the American sender forgot to either 1– pay the customs in advance or 2– be smart and write a much less value to spare me paying for Quebec customs Obviously he did neither Till this moment I was not aware of the nature of the gift And while Fedex representative was looking into her computer to give me the exact amount of customs I have to pay for a gift I am receiving — I was thinking to myself OMG. I am going to waste something between 200 – 300 dollars in taxes for something I did not want to buy nor did I want to receive nor was I pleased to receive a gift and pay for it!!! Now the Fedex woman came back to me and asked me to pay $ 1500 customs fees !!! What the hell !!! Are you kidding me !!! What exactly is this BLOODYGIFT? I asked It was a Chanel handbag and the generous sender wrote down on the form that it cost him $ 5000 !!! I was furious but I paid the custom and took a decision to dump this man(in part it was so generous but if am not obliged to pay extra money for his irrational gifting) I received a confirmation email acknowledging my custom payment and reporting that the shipment will be with me shortly(depending how early Montréal customs will RELEASE it) Three days later and I am still furious and eager to see the most expensive thing I own(on paper till this moment) I received a new call from Fedex delivery service saying that they have the parcel was with them but I have to pay $ 1500 taxes !!! WHAT??? I paid the custom fees already and that is how you were able to RELEASE the shipment I have a confirmation email and a bank statement that showed that I paid every penny in my account to RELEASE this gift!!! The delivery man told me your papers are ‘not stamped ’ and tell He checks with the office if what I was saying is the truth, I can go pick it up later tomorrow from Fedex that is not far from your home !!! This point was when I erupted like a volcano I called Fedex and explained in a ‘not friendly at all tone’ about the whole situation and stressed that as a courier service they should deliver to door not to be asked to go pick it up myself and pay customers twice !!! Second day I received the ever so expensive gift I am not sure whether it is actually ugly(can Chanel ever do any ugly handbag?) or is it because I paid ridiculous money in tax for Quebec government or is it because of the saga I went through with Fedex that make me feel ‘hate’ towards this bag Not sure yet The story has not ended here I called the sender and thanked him very much for such a generous gift and told him frankly as a receiver of a present I don’t think I should be paying any extra money especially that this is something I never asked for nor did I ever accepted any gifts of this value from anyone ever He told me that Fedex Canada contacted to pay customs to release the shipment and he had no Balance in his credit card and asked to give them a call back later(same time they called me to collect custom) Now Fedex asking three times for a custom fees worth $ 1500 when it is already paid for sounds very suspicious to me And if it is a genuine mistake by employee, I am pretty sure this standard of workers does not suit such a global company Update: I am selling the bag on Ebay to pay for the custom fees End
