Très belle vue sur toute la ville durant toutes les saisons. Une découverte à chaque balade au Parc du Mont-​Royal.

Je vous confirme le Canada est grandiose sa population sont des gens super. Cette colline le Mont Royal de (235 M) surplombe Montréal, c’est donc un arrêt obligatoire dans cette si belle ville. Le point de vue sur le St Laurent vaut le coup d’œil, ainsi que sur les buildings du quartier des affaires, son majestueux Casino, son circuit de F1 et son très beau Pont Jacques Cartier non loin de la rue Sainte Catherine. De plus, ce parc est le poumon de la ville, arpentez la plénitude de ce parc, ce lieu vous attend. avec son lac et ces écureuils

One of the great parks in the city. Very fortunate to live close by so we enjoy it in the summer and winter. We go skating on the refrigerated outdoor rink as soon as it is cold enough. So when other outdoor rings are close this one will be open and the rent skates, ski and snowshoes. $ 9 for a 2 hour rental is a bit much, but still a great option. In the summer, lots of BBQ and picnic options. We go to jog on top of the mountain.

It was a pleasure hiking this with snow engulfing the pathway, once you get to the top you get a grand view of the entire city of Montréal which Is perfect for pictures and creating memories.

Le parc du Mont royal est vraiment magnifique quelque soit la saison, même si je né l’ai vu qu’en automne où les couleurs étaient renversantes et en hiver ou la neige était tout aussi renversante (littéralement^^). Il est parfait pour se balader, pour courir, pour flâner et aussi pour faire du ski ou de la luge. On peut aussi y faire du patin près du lac des castors. Bref, c’est un parc complet qui offre une vue incroyable sur Montréal !

Mont Royal probably has the best view of Montréal at night.
It was a comfortable 15 min walk from our hotel (Omni @ Peel). We went up at dusk using the stairs and pathways that cut up the ‘mountain’. This took less than 15min. I was able to do it even though I use a cane and am tired at the end of the day.
We would highly recommend taking a flashlight with you for your way in the dark — most hotels will lend one out to you if your cell phone light is insufficient.
When we got up to the top we saw many people there, some of whom had driven to same lookout view at the top.
There were people there even very late at night so my friend and I (both women) thought it was very safe.
I regret that we didn’t skip one of the other sights to walk it during the daytime or at sun rise/​set when we could see the trees in all their glory.

I love this nature patch in the middle of the city. I pass by it every day on my way to work and run up the hill (its not a real mountain after all) every week (a wonderful trail of about 5K all the way to the top, Highly recommended!).
During the summer and spring you will find a cool drum circle on the foot of the parc (near the statue) called a Tam-​Tam.
During the fall this is a place of magic everything turns red and you must take millions of pictures
During the winter people come here to cross country ski, snow show and enjoy the snow.
And thats without mentioning the wonderful views from the top (a photographer dream) the beautiful walking paths, the nice lake at the top, the mid-​evil fights and the practicing acrobats (during the tam-tams)…just go there

If you’re touring Montréal, you better make it to Parc du Mount Royal. Amazing view of the entire city!

Mount Royal was definitely a highlight of my trip to Montréal. It was a relatively easy bike ride from our hotel, and we had no issues finding it.
It’s a beautiful park, with many trails, open spaces for a nap/​picnic, and of course, that amazing view once you reach the top. We opted to take the stairs, but I believe there is at least one other path that will get you there. Now let me warn you, those steps are no joke. NO JOKE. It was the middle of August when we visited, and by the time we made it to the top, I was drenched it sweat. My footwear was also wildly inappropriate for such a hike (I had on Chuck Taylors), and a good running or hiking sneaker would’ve made the journey much more comfortable, I’m sure.
The terrace allows for sweeping, panoramic views of the entire city. It was really beautiful, and made our trek more than worth it. There is a visitor’s center where you can sit down for a rest, use the facilities, etc. No air conditioning when we went, so it was still sticky inside. There are also vendors selling drinks and ice cream if you need to replenish your energy stores before the much easier walk down the hill.
Mont Royal was recommended as a «must see» while in Montréal, and after experiencing it, I would agree. Just make sure to wear comfortable footwear, bring water, and be ready for a workout.

What’s not to love about an amazing public park in the middle of the city. I remember when I used to live in Montréal we would take advantage of this park all the time. It was nice to go to the top and hike it all the way down. Still as amazing as ever. The city does a great job of keeping it up.

Mont Royal Park is a go to place at any given point of the year. Easy to access by walking up the path, taking a bike or simply driving up you can visit this beautiful park at no cost. Plenty of parking is available albeit it not being free.
There are several view points that you can visit to get a gorgeous view of the city since Mont Royal is conveniently located smack in the middle of it.
Beaver lake is nice to visit, especially with friends and/​or family. Man-​made and shallow it still contains life with a variety of birds and fish. You can even take a boat and go around the lake. Feel free to come and picnic or lie down on the grass and take some sun rays.
There is plenty of walking to be had and you’ll find many runners going about their business.
I’d recommend to bring water and snacks, they kind of rip you off here so make sure to grab it prior to coming here from a small market or corner store.
Make sure that check their website they tend to have several activities going on at all times.

One of my favourite spot in mtl. For a nice run, to take a walk, to have a picnic, to skate, cross country skiing or sliding. Nature in the heart of mtl. Being a country girl I need that one o recharge:)

Oh, yeah, this is definitely a place to go! But it has to be good weather (not too hot, not too cold) because the stairs can be a quite a journey and an exercise! I saw people half way, not being able to continue their journey because they were too tired and too hot. So make sure you bring some energy booster and a bottle of water! It’s worth the journey, the view is amazing! Loved it.
I was disappointed by the prices up there. The souvenirs are so expensive, oh my God. One simple postcard cost $ 1.25 and bottle of water $ 4.00! (So like I said, bring your own). You can fill up your bottle downstairs at the water fountain, no need to buy water from machine. I actually think they placed a vending machine on purpose, so people don’t complain about high prices!

So as it turns out, I am out of shape. Like REALLY out of shape.
The boyf (coined it, don’t try to steal it) and I parked at the bottom, gave each other a really empathetic look and climbed up our first flight of stairs. After the 6^th step, I decided I needed to get back into the gym ASAP.
Our goal was to reach the platform which boasts the city views, so we figured the hike would be worth it. Bikers zoomed past us, dedicated joggers ran by us, families with kids even trekked it up. I thought I saw a 5 year old pointing and laughing at me. Called me a lazyass under her breath. Somewhere, we took the wrong turn and ended up hiking up to a beautiful lake and open picnic space. We were so tired that we ended our journey there and even considered becoming homeless just so we don’t have to walk back down (joking). But I have to say as exhausting as it was climbing up a damn mountain, the lake view made it worthwhile.

A co-​worker, upon hearing that we were going to be in Montréal for a few days, suggested to me that I do my long run up Mont Royal. Now, when he said «up Mont Royal», he neglected to mention that there are two versions of «up». He knows me — knows that I always take the stairs. Plus, he’s a super smart guy — you’d think that that one tidbit of knowledge about me — stairs taker! — would have clicked into a thought along the lines of, «She’ll probably take the steps up Mont Royal, too…»
I had this wonderful plan, which I proposed to my husband on our last full day in Montréal: we’d walk from our hotel (which was on the Rue Saint-​Denis) to Mont Royal, spend a bit of time there, throw in a quick run, and then walk from there to La Banquise for a lunch of poutine. He was hesitant, but finally acquiesced. I can be quite convincing.
So it was that we left our hotel — me dressed and ready to run, him in his normal clothes and running shoes. It was hot and steamy that morning, and we had nothing to drink on us. The only things I brought were our camera, my sunglasses and a bottle of sunblock. Yes, I can be quite crazy sometimes, too.
The walk to the Mont was beautiful, as we passed right by McGill University. The grounds are gorgeous, and everything was so lush and green. We didn’t have much time to stop and linger, as it was starting to get even hotter as we walked, and we shared the very real fear that the heat would do me in.
We climbed on deceptively steep hill, passing faculty housing, in order to get to the base of Mont Royal. By the time we got to the top, I was sweating profusely and we were both sucking wind. Not willing to give in, we paused at the top (to take pictures, of course!) before we rounded one small bend and tackled the first set of stairs in front of us.
I was full of energy and excitement at that point, so I ran up the first flight of steps. Nothin’ doin’! My husband caught up to me, warning me to take it easy. I scoffed at him, and turned to tackle the next flight of stairs.
Still a piece of cake! I got to the top of that flight, and saw a small incline ahead of me, which I subsequently conquered in record time. It was at that point that I started to feel a bit of the burn. I wasn’t about to admit it to my husband, though, as he was still admonishing me for being reckless.
Scoffing with much less vigor, I turned around and noticed that in order to get to the next set of stairs, we had to cross a path. I further noticed that people were walking across the path in both directions. Being the dummy that I am, I didn’t stop to think what that could possibly mean. No, I was too focused on the next set of stairs to contemplate paths and their eventual meaning!
The next flight of stairs… well. They beat me. I’m not too proud to admit it! We had to stop halfway up — for more pictures. It was beautiful up there, but not very restful, as all we heard were the others hiking up the stairs: feet pounding, breath coming in ragged puffs.
The final set of stairs were just flat-​out rude, but we’d gotten that far, and by this time, it was my hubs who was bound and determined to get to the top. We made it — barely — all the while loudly praying to the hydration gods that there’d be a vendor or a fountain at the top.
And do you know, once you best that last flight of steps, you have to climb up a rather steep incline before you get to the terrace?
But, the TERRACE! What a view! It’s SO worth it (even if you’re sticky, sweaty and splotchy, like I was). And yes, they had a glorious drinks vendor, who quickly passed over a couple bottles of Gatorade (bless her).
The view, as I mentioned, is breathtaking. You’ve got a panoramic view of the city in front of you, and the (mostly empty) chalet behind you. There’s a small store inside, plus some tables and chairs, and an all-​important restroom area.
Leaving the terrace and the view behind, if you follow the path out the opposite way, you get to the rest of the park, which we were told was designed by the same guy who helped design Central Park in New York. It’s very lush and green, with lots of trails and wildlife (the squirrels are super bold, and we saw one beautiful owl).
I left my husband sitting on a bench to do a quick run, and about a mile and half around the mountain, I realized I recognized where I was. I briefly thought I had come full-​circle, and that my husband would be around the next bend, but NOPE! I’d run a path that took me back to the last flight of steps! I was staring up at the stairs that nearly broke me, and every fiber in my being was rebelling against the thought of going back up those wooden stairs. So, I turned around and ran right back the way I came from.
The trails are well-​maintained, and very scenic. They’re also well-​traveled, so there was always someone for me to wave at or throw a pained smile to (did I mention it was hot and humid that day?)
Definitely worth the effort, no matter which way you go!

Put this at the top of your list of things you must do in this beautiful city. For those of you who are runners, starting at the entrance on Rue Peel, running to the top of Mont Royal château then doing the loop above the château and the loop around the lake rounds out a 5 mile course if you’re looking to get a little extra mileage in.
Very dog friendly if you want to bring your four legged friend. Most of the trek is dirt so leave your fashionable wedge sandals at home and bring your running shoes.

You can easily spend a whole day exploring Parc du Mont-​Royal, but here’s the lazy American’s guide (aka you have a car and or you’re on a time crunch):
PARKING
Drive in through Remembrance and park near Maison Smith (Smith House), just on the right past the safety/​police station. It was tough to find since there were lots of construction going on which cloaked the exterior of Maison Smith.
MONT ROYAL CHALET + SCENIC CITY OVERLOOK
I was expecting to walk up a ton of stairs, but we ended up following a group of kids on a field trip up a widened path that shortly led us up to the chalet. Stroller and powerchair friendly with a slight incline. After we took in the view of downtown Montréal and glimpsed inside the chalet, we rounded a 2-​ish km pathway. The easy uphill walk featured the croix du mont royal (cross) and ended at a large antennae (very anticlimatic), before we went back to the the chalet.
MAISON SMITH
Back around where we parked, we went inside Maison Smith to use their restrooms (located in a cool cavernous basement), checked out their informative exhibits about the park, and munched on some lunch in their café.
LE STADE SCENIC OVERLOOK
On our way out on Camillien-​Houde, we stopped for a few minutes at the parking friendly overlook of Le Stade Olympique.
Signage was minimal and rather poor, which is why I recommend researching ahead of time so you’re not wandering aimlessly around secondary trails. If you like hanging out in cemeteries (you creepster), we passed by two on our way out. The ony thing I regret is not having enough time to make the trek to Lac au Castors (a reclaimed bog/​large picturesque pond with water activities).

Le Parc est assez grand pour y passer une journée avec un piqué nique, pour essayer de gratouiller le ventre des écureuils, pour parcourir les sentiers et flâner près du lac.
Parfait pour une bonne marche qui finit en apothéose avec une superbe vue sur Montréal.
Un vraiment bel endroit !

Gord and I climbed to the top of Mount Royal this afternoon.
The jewel of Montréal’s city parks is, without question, Mount Royal. This 200-​hectare park occupies part of the mountain that lies in the midst of Montréal island, and includes the highest spot in the city (234m). In the 1860s, mass cutting of trees on the mountain for firewood outraged the populace and led to the area’s designation as a park in 1876. It was originally landscaped by Frederick Law Olmsted, perhaps best known for New York City’s Central Park, although not all his proposed plans for Mount Royal were eventually carried out.
The lookout facing over downtown towards the river was first built in 1906 and is now officially known as the Belvédère Kondiaronk, named for the Huron chief who signed a major peace accord with the French régime in 1701.
Mount Royal is where Montrealers go to get a breath of air on a hot day, to cross-​country ski without leaving the city, to walk off a hangover or a bad mood, to picnic, to jog, to ice skate, to look out over the city, rest their eyes on the horizon and dream.
They have more snow than we do in Toronto
And we made it! It’s not an easy climb but it’s worth it for the views. The views were great!
We headed back down again and saw a woodpecker just before we reached the end of the stairs.

J’ai réellement adoré ce parc qui est pour moi mon préféré de Montréal. Il a vraiment de multiples allures. Au début je m’attendais seulement à un grand parc et j’ai eu un parc, des gros chemins de randonnées, des lieux d’entraînements pour de la corde, du base ball, une sorte de volley ball joué avec les pieds, des sentiers pour cycliste, des bouts et endroits ayant des allures de forêt…
Mais la raison principal pour laquelle on vient voir ce parc (en tant que touriste) c’est pour la vue magnifique qu’il offre sur tout Montréal. Si vous y assistez au moment où le soleil se couche c’est encore mieux et les photos que vous y faites sont spectaculaires!!!
Mais pour avoir accès à cette vue splendide vous devez marcher, marcher, marcher, monter des marches, encore des marches, beaucoup de marches et après remarcher encore et encore… et à la fin vous avez la vue surplombant la ville.
Et là c’est le moment de sortir l’appareil. C’est plus facile de tout redescendre que de tout monter. Un conseil: prévoir de bonnes chaussures.

Ah le Mont-​Royal… Aujourd’hui j’écris mon 100ème avis sur Unilocal (je vous entends déjà applaudir, je vous remercie) et j’avais envie d’écrire sur un endroit particulier. Le Mont-​Royal.
C’est tout à fait inattendu au milieu d’une immense ville comme Montréal de trouver cette petite montagne qui regorge de surprises. J’aimerais né pas vous spoiler et vous laisser découvrir mais je né résiste pas à l’envie de vous en dire plus !
Ce Mont-​Royal, vous l’aimerez :
— Si vous aimez marcher, faire du trek, monter ou descendre des sentiers
— Si vous n’aimez pas marcher: oui, la Société de Transport de Montréal à penser à un bus pour les moins sportifs
— Si vous voulez une vue imprenable sur la ville grâce à un belvédère impressionnant
— Si vous voulez vous poser tranquillement dans l’herbe près du Lac aux Castors
— Si vous né cherchez pas de castors, mais que vous vous contenteriez bien d’un raton laveur ou de quelques écureuils
— Si vous aimez courir, faire du vélo, mettre des baskets et foncer
— Si vous voulez prendre le temps, respirer la nature sans avoir à quitter la ville
Pour atterrir doucement de cette déambulation sur le Mont-​Royal, je vous conseille de redescendre par le cimetière du Mont-​Royal. Nivelé, plein de verdure, de calme, de belles couleurs au début du printemps.
Depuis que j’ai quitté ce Mont-​Royal, je n’ai qu’une envie: y retourner.

Agréable endroit pour faire des promenades, de l’exercice, du vélo. l’atmosphère est aussi propice pour écrire des textes issus de notre imaginaire. Le payasage est super. Il faut prendre des photos.

Un des symboles de Montréal, le Mont – Royal attire chaque année des visiteurs de partout dans le monde, mais aussi les Montréalais – es. Il a vu des générations d’enfants glisser sur ses côtes, des amoureux s’embrasser en regardant le Stade Olympique et l’avenue Mont – Royal, des cyclistes émérites s’entraîner, des familles marcher dans les feuilles l’automne.
Un must à voir à tout prix et un trésor naturel à préserver pour les futures générations.

La possibilité de se retrouve a ce point coupé de tout au beau milieu de Montréal, inouï!
Que ça soit pour un jogging ou un
Barbecue en été près du Lac aux Castors, chacun y trouvera son bonheur!
Les chemins balisés permettent une belle ballade en vélo avec quelques points de vue sublime sur la ville!
Né pas se perdre pendant une journée entière au milieu de ce parc serait une belle erreur!

Le meilleur endroit à Montréal pour faire son jogging ! Trouvez-​vous un stationnement dans le quartier Outremont, et de débuter votre course au pied de la montagne au monument consacré à George Étienne Cartier. Suivez le chemin des calèches jusqu’au sommet et redescendez par la même route. En tout, vous aurez couru près de 9 km sur un parcours en terre battue (la meilleure surface naturelle pour la course à pieds). De plus, cette route est ombragé sur plus du ²⁄₃ de la distance. En chemin, vous croiserez plusieurs fontaines d’eau pour vous désaltérer. Un trajet digne des Rave Run du magazine Runners World. J’ai couru dans plusieurs grandes villes au Canada, mais rien né vaut le parcours du Mt-​Royal !

Comme certains le dise le Parc Mont Royal c’est un peu le poumon de Montréal et franchement c’est un sacré poumon. J’avais décidé de passer une mâtiné dans ce parc et rien que de faire une partie du tout ma pris plus de temps que prévu.
Certes il y a des chemins balisé pour cycliste et piétons mais il est aussi possible de passer un peu par les bois et la ca deviens vite un labyrinthe. Il y a beaucoup de monde qui se promèné mais malgré tout on ressent une sorte de bien être et de calme partout et surtout lorsque l’on voit les petits écureuils un peu partout.
Un des autres points intéressant de ce parc est qu’il est situé sur les hauteurs de Montréal et que de ce fait la vue est vraiment magnifique (encore faut il arriver en haut). Le parc est lui aussi bien entretenu et coloré, un régal pour les photographes.
Lors de ma venu le lac aux castors était en travaux mais c’est surement intéressant en été de se poser au bord du lac. Un des inconvénients est qu’il y a peu d’endroit pour boire un verre ou trouver quelque chose à grignoter donc je vous conseil d’apporter le nécessaire.

L’étoile enlevée est pour le manqué flagrant de stationnement et son prix faramineux !
Quoi de mieux que d’aller se promener dans la nature, tout en étant en ville? Le Parc du Mont-​Royal offre tout ça: des sentiers pour monter ou descendre la montagne, un belvédère pour s’embrasser dans la voiture (oui comme dans les films, mais attention aux ratons laveurs !), des activités saisonnières qui nous font sentir bien (tam tam l’été et glissades l’hiver). Chaque saison offre son charme au Parc et nous rend heureux de vivre en plein coeur de la Ville. Sans oublier la magnifique esplanade et son pavillon, qui nous donne une vue magnifique de la Métropole.

Un incontournable de Montréal. Il y a vraiment de tout pour les amoureux de la nature, et même ceux qui préfère la ville. Allez faire un tour tout au haut du Mont-​Royal pour y voir quelques vues de la grande ville qui prend son nom de cette montagne au centre de l’ïle, Près du Lac des castors, il y a de nombreux recoins pour des barbecue et fêtes de famille de toutes les grandeurs. En hiver vous poivez y patiner et en été, profitez en pour prendre un bière sur la terrasse du Parc. Les dimanches, allez faire un tour près de la statie sur rue du Parc pour un jam de tam-​tam.

Es un lugar de extramada hermosa naturaleza, la unica loma que tiene montreal, en verdad que es uno de los lugares mas lindos a los que he visitado, si vas a montreal tienes que hacer una parada en el park mont royal

Toller Park!!! Am besten direkt morgens, wenn der Jetlag noch frisch ist, um fünf Uhr früh einen Spaziergang machen und oben am See einen Kaffee trinken (den haben wir aber mitgebracht). Tolle gepflegte Anlage. Die Eichhörnchen an den Hosenbeinen kann ich bestätigen… Und zwar viele!

Une excellente balade pour se remettre d’une folle soirée la veille.
Grimper à pied en haut de cette colline, et vous en oublierai votre mal de tête du à trop d’excès la veille.
Arrivé tout en haut, vous avez un point de vue sur la ville de Montréal. Vous pourrez voir le contraste entre les buildings Montréalais et les petits quartiers résidentiels.
A né pas rater: les dimanches après-​midi d’été, le parc Mont-​Royal se transforme en lieu de musique et de partage avec les Tam-​Tam du Mont-​Royal. Des gens de tous genres et de tous âges se rassemblent pour jouer des percus, du saxophone, du djumbé etc… Cela devient un espace multi-​culturel très sympa!

Si de tous les parcs de Montréal vous né devez en voir qu’un seul, alors ce sera celui-​ci. Pourquoi? Eh bien parce que :
1– c’est lui qui donne son nom à la ville (le mont réal)
2– c’est de sommet que vous aurez le meilleur point de vue sur les gratte-​ciels du centre ville
3– il a été conçu par le même paysagiste que Central park
4– vous né serez pas officiellement validé Québécois tant que vous n’aurez pas descendu la fameuse piste de luge du lac au castor
5– tous les dimanches il y a des concerts de jumbe
6– et toutes les fins de semaine (printemps –été) vous pourrez assister à des reconstitutions de batailles médiévales (dont voici un aperçu video :

Ceci dit le Mont-​Royal est aussi idéal pour les balades à pied, en raquettes, en vélo ou même en ski, et aussi pour les piqué-​niques, le frisbee, bouquiner, bronzer, flâner et profiter de la nature…

Ich wohne 200 Meter vom Park entfernt. Fast jeden Tag gehe ich dort joggen oder mache powerwalk. Selbst im Winter — die Wege werden geräumt. Nachts kann man Waschbären und manchmal Stinktiere sehen. Vorgestern sah ich selbst nachmitags eine ganze Familie! Die grauen Eichhörnchen klettern einem die Hosenbeine hoch wenn sie merken, dass man Erdnüsse mitgebracht hat. Ja, und die Aussicht ist auch nicht schlecht.
Es freut mich, dass euch der Park auch gefallen hat. Morgen könnt ihr mich auf dem mountain bike dort sehen. Ich mache 3 große Touren = ca. 25 Meilen. Macht auch Spaß

Prima Ausblick über die schöné Stadt und den St. Lorenz Strom und das gratis umgeben von dem schönen Park! der Park ist von Von F. L. Olmsted entworfen der auch den Central Park in NY und den Golden Gate Park in SF geplant hat.
Der Weg durch den Park (ca 3km) zur Aussichtsplattform, wenn man nicht die Treppen geht, ist angenehm, man sollte sich jedoch was zu trinken mit nehmen ;)

Ein richtig toller Park über der Stadt. Man hat eine grandiose Aussicht.
Wenn man die genossen hat, kann man sich auch auf eine der vielen Wiesen legen und die Eichhörnchen beobachten :)
Der Weg nach oben ist ganz schön mühsam wenn man die Treppen nimmt aber man wird am Ende ja mit einem tollen Blick belohnt :)

Der Mont Real erhebt sich mit 233 Meter in der Stadt Montréal und ist Namensgeber für die knapp 1.850.000 Einwohner grosse Binneninsel.
Von ganz oben hat man einen wunderbaren Ausblick über die ganze Stadt.
Ein Besuch des Parks ist ein wunderbarer Ausgleich zum Grossstadtlärm und ein Pol der Ruhe. Sattes Grün und viele Spazierwege schlängeln sich um den Berg.

Beautiful and lots of fun!!! Great for the whole family — just be prepared to get a bit of a work out! Lots of fun for walking, sight seeing, cross country skiing and taking photos! The chalet has bathrooms, chairs, a small fire and vending machines.
