PHI Centre

I visited the PHI centre this week for a documentary screening and was seriously impressed. Tickets were very affordable, the staff was consistently friendly, and you can buy beer with your popcorn (beer and popcorn= $ 8! Who needs regular venues???). The theatre itself was perfectly sized for an intimate screening and Q&A with director/​producer.
The really impressive thing about the centre, naturally, is the space: the hyper modern design of the space contrasts the old-​world feel of the old port rather perfectly and really makes me want to go to everything they have to offer. I have no doubt that the centre PHI is becoming a Montréal staple for art and design.

J’y suis allée pour le Festival du film En Route d’Air Canada, le temps d’une conférence et de quelques projections. Super ambiance, beaucoup de plaisir, staff très professionnel et accueillant.
Le Centre comme tel est vraiment génial, multitâche, aéré, les bras grands ouverts à l’art et à la création. On s’y sent bien, libre et inspiré. J’ai hâte d’y retourner pour d’autres événements.
Si vous vous y rendez pour la première fois, sortez le GPS, il n’est pas simple à trouver si vous connaissez peu le coin de Ville-​Marie /​Vieux-​Montréal.

Half gallery, half studio space, half event venue, half pop up shop, half acid trip. I know that’s five halves, dammit, that’s my point.
A must see visit for a rotating flair of Montréal’s exquisite and funky modern art and fashion scene. Pop-​up artisan shop down, gallery up, some studio space and a small auditorium I believe.
Something very interesting about the modernity of the space and exhibits tucked in Vieux Montréal, one of the oldest urban cores in NA.

What an amazing space.

Je suis allée à quelques reprises maintenant pour des événements spéciaux et je dois dire que c’est un super bel édifice. Assez facile à trouver (mais pas trop pour avoir le plaisir de se promener dans les belles rues du Vieux en s’y rendant), c’est un centre multi-​fonctionnel qui est extrêmement moderne. Au sous-​sol on y trouve un immense vestiaire et des belles salles de bains. Aux autres étages, des salles de toute sorte pour des genres d’événements variés allant de 5 à 7, à des expositions d’arts ou même des présentations multimédia extra spéciales. À en parler aux quelques personnes qui sont impliquées dans le projet, ce sont des gens passionnés qui s’en occupe et qui veulent créer un bel espace créatif qui a de la classe! À considérer pour vos événements spéciaux.

This brand new über high tech arts event space is slowly hatching down in Old Montréal. I got to check out a sneak peek and was really thrilled by the potential in the space. It’s four stories, wired to the gills with capabilities for audio/​video recording and live broadcasting, configurable rooms with screens, equipment for bands, film, and all manner of motion-​sensor, data-​driven, interdisciplinary madness. Brought to you by the same benefactor behind DHC Art, the space is clearly a dream-​project labour of love. There are exhibitions scheduled for the launch of each individual room, I believe, and the full space will be finished emerging from it’s current chrysalis of construction and conceptualization by mid Fall. In addition to the many inspiring arts spaces within, there is a rooftop terrace with a heart stopping view of Old Montréal.
