Clean convenient wine store right next to the McGill metro stop. This store has a great variety of everyday wines and wines for a special location(in the reserved section). French Canadians have great taste in wine. I could find delicious and enticing wines in this quick stop wine store that I couldn’t find in a regular wine store in Manhattan. Wines that are not too cloyingly sweet. For the more affordable option, Cotes du Rhone for $ 40CAD a bottle. Wines that are amazing and cost more than $ 150CAD a bottle. Many Montréal residents were here buying 2 – 3 bottles for the holidays. If I lived in the area, I would be here much more frequently.

This place is very neat and has a huge selection of wine for a small place. I like how they have an open bottle for whiskey tasting. The pricing isn’t too bad either.

Very decent wine selection. Nice selection of ice wines(one of my main reasons for going to Canada!). The prices aren’t bad — way cheaper than the hotel’s wines.

The store showcases liquor and wines in a way that makes you want to buy. The downstairs wine cellar is beautiful, but could do without boxes of(not so) special buys piled everywhere. I love coming here to look at the fine wines and buy some of the day-to-day alcohol. Recently I did a price comparison on an 85 $ bottle of wine. While I know that Canadian wine has more tax, I found the same bottle at 5 places in the US ranging from 42 – 55 $ u.s. Quite a difference!

This particular SAQ gets my full attention, my full love and dedication, Why? Because, it’s simply the BESTSAQ there is, PERIOD! Why? Again it’s all based on how SAQ Works, they have Selection, Terroir, Signature, des Futtoirs– Marché Central(AKA Bulk branch), Express. Etc. All of those have different type of wine, different quality, different pricing selections etc. Signature as you might have guess, it’s the Top-of-the-line. You’ll find some 150 $ accessible at ease when at Express maximum bottle will be like 70 $. Also, if you are showing interest in whisky or some product, they do have bottle that are open for tasting. Which brought me to drinking some Limited Scotch Whiskey Ontario Concord whisky of 290 $ the bottle which was pretty amazing. Or taste of very expensive product. I do always try to create a network of people that I always go to when I go there, and yes! pretty cool thing to taste a Reserve Argberg or a 16 Year Old Jura or… anything which is Whiskey and Free.

I just like this SAQ outlet because it is just so neat. As this is the first ever SAQ I ever visit, I am not sure what to expect. Then I saw this doorway… my friend asked me to go in through this sliding door. and I am impressed with all these wine selections… some of them are way out of my price range but at least I know where to get them now if I do need a bottle or 2. The space is a little tight as I wear my winter jacket and try not to bum into anything…

What a nice classy store to buy alcohol. I just love walking through their cellar upstairs as they carry some of the most hard to find gems I have seen(Château Latour anyone) some of the wines sold here are available by auction only in most countries so its good place for a collector. Alas I can’t afford most of them, but now I know where to come if and when I win the jackpot :) Service can be spotty at times which I didn’t like but I did enjoy their novelty sets for gifts. Though for a flagship store they are smaller than I expected.

Convenient wine and liquor store. The upstairs Signature boutique is pleasant and ritzy, and the downstairs SAQ Classique is like a clean mini-mart. Picked up a few bottles for dinner(not too expensive, credit cards accepted), then headed on our way. The cashier asked me if I wanted a bag(extra); next time I’ll buy an SAQ wine tote! Neat trivia: This is the first SAQ I’ve ever walked into.

There is wine here. That alone merits the three stars. The wine is kind of expensive, however. I am not sure if it’s just this store, SAQs in general, or because I am used to buying wine at Trader Joe’s in Boston, but I spent around $ 12 for a pretty mediocre Reisling. A convenient location if you desperately need wine, but next time I am in MTL I will try looking around a bit more for cheaper prices.
