Love Nesvogs hot case options when you need something quick. Their homemade sausages ex. Apple chicken or turkey cranberry are amazing!!! We love their pork hamburger patties and homemade pepperoni! Love it all. Weekly stop for sure.

My dad is obsessed with nesvogs. He’s always going here for different meats. everyone in my family goes here for their thanksgiving/xmas turkeys here. Their steaks, sausages, poultry is all good. The only thing I’ve been turned off of was getting sick from a meat pie there once however they rectified that. Overall it’s a good place to go.

I like shopping at Nesvog and I’ve been happy with the beef, but the turkey this Thanksgiving was a big disappointment: very bland and lacking in flavour. The turkey was also excessively greasy with fatty deposits inside; fat is no substitute for flavour. I was not pleased to serve it to my guests. The clerk had told me it was free-range, but I wondered about that because free-range turkeys generally exhibit more thigh and leg development. Also free-range turkeys I’ve had in the past — not from Nesvog — have been a lot more flavourful. I’ll continue to shop at Nesvog, but I would not recommend the turkey which was no better than a standard supermarket turkey. More research needed to find a better supplier for free-range turkeys, I would suggest. (and, no, it’s not the prep: I shouldn’t have to brine it to get the flavour I’ve come to expect from a free-range turkey)

I was referred to Nesvog from some friends in Nanaimo. So happy about that. I don’t eat much meat, but my Dad raises grass-fed Angus cattle, so, I avoid conventional factory meat. Or risk becoming the black sheep. Nesvog has an awesome selection of local, specialty, organic, grass-fed and otherwise tasty meats. The(mostly) ladies behind the counter are super friendly, and knowledgeable about how to choose, cook, and store your meat. Pricing is fantastic for the quality you’re getting. Grass-fed beef is excellent, I recently made a small roast that was very good quality. Always remember with grass-fed beef that it cooks best at a lower temperature and lesser cooking time that conventional beef. They make bacon, sausage, pepperoni sticks(with various meats), meat pies and loads of other things all in-store. The bacon is thick, delicious, and very meaty. Fabulous selection of sausages, including one with black beans, so far a personal fav. Apple chicken, bratwurst, chorizo, and all the usual suspects. Lots of specials, so stock up when they are on, buy 3 get 1 free. Their chicken meat pie is stuffed full of meat, and super delicious. I love the longing looks from other ferry passengers when I’m eating one on the ferry back to Vancouver. The local whole roaster chickens are $ 10.99, and come out beautifully every time. Other chicken cuts are excellent as well. Turkey burgers and beef patties are moist, perfect thickness, and excellent on the BBQ. Store is stacked with loads of seasonings, sauces, oils, mustards, frozen meats, perogies, treats, and even bones for your dog. They also offer bulk packages of beef, at discounted pricing. Basically, these guys know their meats, and I’m so happy to see such a great selection of local specialty meats. Great service, excellent quality and selection. Always friendly and happy staff. Thanks Nesvog!
