History

Established in 1903.

A long time ago our founders Robert James Sprott and William Henry Shaw had a vision. They wanted to create a college offering the right programs to meet the needs of the current economy and broader community; programs that provided students with relevant skills and meaningful jobs in high growth industries. Over 100 years later that’s still exactly what Sprott Shaw provides.

Sprott Shaw offers a different option beyond what is currently expected of the private and public sectors within the educational system. We offer accredited, relevant, respected education, and training delivered in a modern way. Also, our history sets us apart from other private institutions.

Every single review on Unilocal is … but ok
OMG THIS IS GREAT I just found out they are NOT ELIGIBLE for student loans cuz this college is so bad. Yep. Nanaimo news bulletin if you care to Google it.
But hah I was right all along sprott shaw you evil weiners.
I will paraphrase on my SPECIFIC EXPERIENCES at Sprott Shaw in Nanaimo
— very Poor instruction (just read to your from text, I could pass all course without ever going to the classes, felt that half of the instructors were incompetent.)
–the director made a speech to my class about how many complaints they had against a certain instructor but that we had all better get along because she says whether we pass or fail (seems like after so many complaints one would consider replacing her which from my experience they should have done so)
–degrees are laughed at by most employers, and have no real value
–3x prices of «real» colleges like viu or uvic. Literally. 3 times as much. For a joke of a Diploma. A sprott shaw grad is put to the bottom of the resume pile.
–0 stars, would not recommend sprott shaw in nanaimo or anywhere else
–wish I had never attended here
–high pressure on admissions, when you go in they pressure you to sign up right away and do all your student loans right away so that you can’t back out
–check into why their duncan campus was shut down… it speaks volumes.
— AVOID AT ALL COSTS, there’s a reason it’s nickname is «pay to pass»
Go with literally any other accredited college or university.
sprott shaw in nanaimo isn’t even eligible for student loans anymore because they charge so much for their programs that people cannot repay their loans cuz they can’t make enough $ cuz the only jobs they can get are shitty and low wages haha
Oh and judging by how fast Unilocal removed my review I imagine Sprott Shaw is watching their reviews very carefully and reporting them all. Hi guys! Suck my butt! Every single thing in my review is true!
When I tried to research the college before attending I couldn’t find a single review about them anywhere. Guess that makes sense now. I wish I’d had someone to warn me how bad this place is and what a rip off it is. Huge price tags on their programs.
