Glasgow Square is pretty cool. They host music events, theatre events and apparently weddings. I played here as a kid when I was a young clarinet prodigy, oh where did those days go… Kidding, I was pretty bad. Anyway, every year they host the jubilee which is basically the Coachella of New Glasgow(kind of pathetic). So if you’ve wanted to see the Trews, you can catch them at the jubilee since they play every year. This is also where you can watch the dragon boat races.

I’m a big fan of seeing this smaller music venue become a place of dependable entertainment options in New Glasgow. I recently saw Bruce Cockburn play here, and the small atmosphere made for a very intimate gathering. What’s cool about this venue, is that it was designed to open up in the warm weather, allowing the entire building to act as an outdoor stage for larger concerts. The signature annual event is the NG Music Jubilee, which takes place every August long weekend. All in all, a great little spot located right on the water in downtown New Glasgow.
