Joe Chows Restaurant

Joe Chows was always my family’s go-​to spot for Chinese food, and the last time I had eaten there before tonight was a decade ago just before I moved away for school. This was my first time since then and it was just as good as I remember. I’ll be leaving Pictou County again soon, but I will be eating there again every time I visit from now on.

Excellent food and great service. Meat Moo goo guy pan around.

During a visit with my boyfriends family, we had takeout here for his sisters birthday.
They ordered a takeout combo for 2 (s+s chicken balls, rice and egg rolls) and an order of chicken Lo mein. The prices were reasonable at $ 15, and $ 9.85. It was open until 10pm which is good because we ordered at 8:45 and not many places are open in New Glasgow after 9, its like a ghost town by then.
The Lo men was pretty good but I found all of the veggies didn’t add to it, there were just too many different kinds including green peppers, red peppers, onions, celery, broccoli, bean sprouts, and snow peas. The rice and chicken balls were average Chinese fair; nothing spectacular. But maybe I’m just too much of a Chinese food snob.
Anyways, I recommend it to anyone in the area looking for Chinese food, especially later at night, as I believe there’s only 2 – 3 spots to pick from around here.
