My family and I eat here frequently. Has the best Chinese food had in Nova Scotia. The buffet has a great selection, with fair price. The menu food has such great freshness. Eat here and have a great meal.

Having grown up just north of Toronto where Chinese buffets are a dime a dozen, I became spoiled because I had the luxury of being able to constantly try new places in my never-ending quest to satisfy my affection for both all foods Chinese as well as the ability to eat as much of it as I want. Were Ming’s located back home, it would have been tossed in with the dozens of other identical restaurants I’ve visited, and probably wouldn’t have even deserved a review. But Ming’s isn’t in Toronto, it’s in a Nova Scotia town of about 9,000, where there are a total of 3 Chinese buffets. So naturally when the urge to stuff my face full of egg rolls until I’ve lost all self-respect inevitably shows up, my options are much more limited. That being said, Ming’s is the clear-cut winner in New Glasgow. While there is nothing spectacular or particularly memorable about the place, I give it 5 stars for providing exactly what you want from a restaurant. The food isn’t exactly going to win any awards, but it is always warm and always fresh, so you’ll never get that sitting-under-a-heat-lamp-for-20-minutes feeling that is all too common in Chinese buffets. The service is also great, plates are cleared and drinks are always topped up promptly, and there are enough tables that I’ve never had to wait to get a seat. Finally, the price is right. To get a solid meal for how much you pay, you really can’t go wrong. It’s not the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, but when I feel like filling up on sweet & sour chicken on New Glasgow, there’s no place I’d rather go than Ming’s.

We went here last year around this time, the food was very good. But now has gone downhill BIGTIME! The food was disgusting to say the least, some not completely cooked. When I questioned the waitress about it, she told us that how they prepare food, is that they partially cook it and then freeze it and then REHEAT the frozen food before it is served and so therefore sometimes the thorough cooking does not always happen. This to me is asking for a disaster to happen. After the meal today both my friend and I had to use the toilet frequently and felt sick. This type of food prep is unethical and not expected in a place where you pay good prices for what you get. And oh when I went to pay the bill, the waitress again explained how the food was prepared and that is probably some of food was partially raw.
