They got great prices and they let you try some of the games in store and at the quay.

I am glad to see more of these stores opening up in this electronic day and age. There is a sense of socialization that comes from actually playing board games in real time that I treasure. I get a kick out of all the re-​issued games. I go for the classic games mostly. This is close to the train station which is appreciated. Customer service was friendly. Some of the re-​issue games are $$ but maybe I am still thinking in yesterday’s prices.

Great little store! I’ve been coming here for several months, and made a Unilocal!account honestly just to give them some kudos. Their prices are usually the best around, and great selection of boardgames! The staff are very knowledgeable, and Cookie Dough always helps keep my partner company while I browse the selection :)

Best prices and selection better than most online stores. Always willing to give recommendations. Run many events that cater to different crowds.
Recent renovations create a large even more welcoming space than they had before.

I found this place by accident a couple of years ago, and I’m so glad I did. We aren’t quite in the hardcore gamer category, but we do enjoy Eurostyle strategy games, and Kirby the owner, has never steered me wrong. He really listens, and gives me good, thoughtful suggestions. The pricing is really good, and their game night is a ton of fun, though I have only been able to get there once. I’ve recommended this store to all of my board game loving friends, and it has been universally well received. Definitely worth the trip into New West!

Really the best go-​to place for board games and such in the Lower Mainland, and I don’t say this lightly. The store is very welcoming, often filled with gamers and has a sort of living room homey sort of feel to it. In the years that Board Game Warriors has been around, the owner, Kirby, has created a community around the store and it shows. As other reviewers have said, Kirby loves board games and will take the time to find the right game for you if you just happen to stop by.
That being said, what sets this store apart from other gaming stores in the Lower Mainland is its welcoming and inclusive community atmosphere. In certain stores, some may require you to have an arbitrary «membership» to play the store’s board games or participate in events — alienating non-​locals and first-​visits, and or the store owners are literally just in it for the money to sell you their products. But not at Boardgame Warriors.
Buy from Boardgame Warriors because of their genuine personal and business nature, and because they honestly want you to have fun.

The other reviews aren’t lying — you really can’t go wrong with this place.
They have as big a selection of games as you’ll find anywhere, and at cheap prices. And of course the best part is, if you come in during a drop-​in board game time, you can literally play any game in the store, free of charge, with anyone you want. I have had them open brand new games that weren’t already open in the back just for us to try them out. You never feel pressured to buy anything, but you end up wanting to support them just because they’re so awesome!
What else can I say… you can bring in your own drinks or get them there for $ 1. If you need a recommendation of what to buy or play, you will always get excellent advice. If you want to try a new game, you will almost always find someone who knows how to play and is willing to show you. 5+ stars all around!

You walk in and are taken aback by how small the store is. But you are only seeing part of the store. They have more games in the back and a large playing area. if you don’t see what you are looking for, ask and there is a good chance they’ll have it.
The prices are some of the cheapest in town and are generally within 10% of internet prices and sometimes even lower.
The two owners (?) are friendly (the women is more out going but I find the guy to be friendly, just a little on the quiet side) and helpful.
The only downside is the place is a bit far from my house and parking can be a slight pain.
But overall a great game store. The lower mainland’s best if you are interested in board games only.

How can you not like a place that has a HUGE play room with tons of board games to play? The store is literally filled with many board games to share with the people in the local community! I love this place! :D

The place is run by a family of gaming nerds, including their daughter, so they know exactly what they are talking about :)
On top of the selection of games to buy is endless!!! All of the walls are filled with shelves of games and there is a back room filled with more too! :D

This place is tucked around the corner about a block away from Columbia Street. As a result, it may never be found by people that don’t know that it exists. However, this place is a gem that should be recommended to friends and family. I live in Vancouver and if I’m going to purchase a new board game, I will go out of my way to go to Board Game Warriors due to their prices and friendliness.
Board Game Warriors is, bar none, the best priced board game store in the lower mainland that has a store front. There are lots of niche and «non-​mainstream» games all at very reasonable prices, along with traditionally played board games (usually several dollars less than competitors). On average, a game is 10 – 20 bucks less than other stores for larger games that are $ 40+ at other stores. For example, Munchkin Deluxe is ~$ 23, munchkin expansion sets are ~$ 15, Risk 2210 ~$ 34, Settlers of Catan $ 38 and the list goes on.
The store is a little small and they have a lot of games, so there may only be one or two copies of each game. However, to make sure they have a game in stock, you can always call ahead and the shop owner, Kirby, will put it aside for you. With this said, I have bought dozens of games and game accessories (extra pieces, replacement pieces, dice, card protectors, etc) and only once were they sold out of something I wanted. I just had to wait 2 days and it was back in stock. You can buy your board games from an online vendor, but then you have to wait 2 – 3 weeks due to shipping. Why not get the game NOW for the same price while supporting a good local business. If you want to purchase a game and they don’t have it in, they can order it in for you and it normally takes 3 – 4 days maximum.
They have a little room in the back that has some gaming tables that regulars come in at and play games. If you want to see the parts of a game, they have several copies of popular board games open which you can take a look at and also try if you’d like. A few times a week, there are times anyone can come in and play a game with other people also interested in playing a game.
All in all, this is a great place to buy board games from. I’ve asked for 3 recommendations — one for me and two for friends that don’t play games too often, but wanted something different. All recommendations have been spot on, showing the owner and clerks know their games and can help the buyer depending on the situation.
I highly recommend Board Game Warriors to anyone looking to pick up a new game.

If there is one thing I enjoy, it’s board games. Between my boyfriend and myself, we have two cabinets completely jam packed with games. This is why we were excited to learn about Kirby’s Store in New Westminster.
Close to the Columbia Skytrain station in a wonderful area of town, Board Game Warriors is a gem. Kirby enjoys his board games and it shows. If you’re looking for a hard to find board game, chances are you’ll find it here. If you want to check out a game, there are tons of board games in the back of the store that are open and ready to play.
If you do a simple price comparison online, Kirby’s games are much cheaper than all of the competition. Why go to another store when you can save so much money and try before you buy?
I guarantee the trip to this store will be worth it (and your wallet will thank you!)

Board Game Warriors is my go-​to brick & mortar store in the Vancouver area. Their prices are close to the best prices in Canada even considering online alternatives, they’re on the skytrain, and Kirby is very responsive on email and will happily set games aside for you for pickup, or reserve incoming new games when they arrive. He’s always been friendly and helpful in store, too, and I like the divide where the store is quiet and welcoming (though, admittedly, small) but you can usually hear games going on in the background. I’m also glad they run game evenings/​nights and advertise them, though I haven’t made it out to one yet. Overall, this is as good as it gets for a board game store in the expensive Vancouver area.

The owner, Kirby, loves board games and it shows. It shows in the selection. It shows in the prices. It shows in the space that he has for people to play the games before they buy them. And it shows in the time and patience he has to spend with you to help you choose a game that is right for you.
