We went there for first time, after seeing it for several months. We were quite pleased with the quality and taste of the food.

We ordered the Qey Doro Wot(chicken) and a lamb dish the name of which I’m not sure. Two large injera pakcakes were included which was more than enough to finish both dishes. The chicken was very tasty but I was really surprised that it came with only one chicken leg and one egg. I fished around in the ‘curry’ sauce for more but that was it. It was also fairly oily and spicy so if you’re not into that then avoid it. The lamb dish consisted of stir-fry sized strips of lamb. Period. That’s all it was — just meat. No vegetables or gravy or anything. The meat itself had a decent taste but was tough. My girlfriend found the chicken too spicy and the lamb too tough so she didn’t eat much other than the egg. I was able to polish off the remainder of both dishes without leaving a scrap left over. So I would say the portion size is small. I’m guessing this food is authentic Ethiopian food so I was happy with having the chance to try it. The prices were high for what you get. I think this place could be improved if there was a sampler that gave you a bunch of things to try for a decent price. Otherwise the portion size should be increased so that you don’t feel like you dropped $ 50 for a chicken leg, an egg, and a small bowl of tough, fried meat. I think this restaurant has a kind of identity problem, trying to be authentic but having high prices. If the owner wants to go upscale the place should reflect that kind of atmosphere. I will say that the owner was nice and the place was very clean. But it’s not fancy. I could have spent more than $ 80 had we ordered drinks and another dish.

So nice to come into this small eatery and be treated like family. The proprietor was helpful in advising us of what was in each of the dishes, as well as how to properly pronounce things. Great spot we will be back for!

Very friendly service. Decent Ethiopian food. My favorite vegetarian dish at this restaurant is the lentils. The best meat dish is the lamb. In comparison to the food served at other Ethiopian restaurants, this food seemed to be either less seasoned(such as the cabbage) or much more spicy(such as the lentils and meats). I will return for the convenience.

My hubby and I have been to all the major ethiopian places in the city and actually, we like this one the best. The flavours are amazing and décor is not screaming out at you. the veggie platter so good!

Very different spices and very tasty. The staff was very friendly, going out of their way to explain the food. Ya may want to ask for half orders of the bread they server– if you need more ask for it.(You probably wont– they are huge!)

Decent Ethiopian food. Extremely polite and warm service. It was a pleasant weekday dinner at a relaxed pace. The only thing that was a little off putting was that the injera tasted a little too sour, otherwise A-OK

Delicious and I know my Ethiopian food. I get the veggie platter and the lamb tibs. If I’m by myself I get the veggie platter, it has variety.

So this place opened up a few weeks ago and I’ve been meaning to try it out. I’m really excited that we’ve got an Ethiopian restaurant in New West. I wasn’t let down when my girlfriend and I tried this place out tonight. The menu is organized quite nicely and pretty compact. I started with the soup of the day. It was a lentil soup flavoured with cumin, green onions. If you’ve ever had West Indian style lentil dahl, you’ll have a pretty good idea of what this dish is like.(That was a long winded way of saying it was FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC) For our mains we shared the meat platter. We figured it would good way to try a lot of items on the menu in one go. The platter comes with a stewed lamb, beef with potatoes, stewed chicken, and a minced beef dish. While each dish was comprised of similar flavours(onion, garlic, chillies, cumin, cinnamon …) they were each very very unique. The lamb stew was the second best lamb dish I’ve had in the lower mainland. Next time I’m here I’m getting the full sized order of this. With most of the dishes, they struck me as being almost Indian-esque in the flavouring, but yet it’s completely different. If you enjoy Indian food, I’m dead sure you’re going to like Ethiopian food. We also figured that eating only meat wouldn’t make for a great dinner so we got an order of the satueed spinach. This was also a huge winner. It was made, like the other dishes, with the same set of spices, but again a totally unique taste. I’ve set myself a goal of making through every item on this menu and I think you should to. P.S Enjeera rocks!
