Pink Ribbon Bakery

I called today to inquire about a shower cake that serves 15 to twenty people… the girl on the phone said it would cost $ 250 plus taxes… well wowza! Nothing to convince me or tempt me to why I would choose this way over priced cake… just 250 plus tax? I was willing to pay upto $ 150 to feed 15 people but no other options were given to me by her. I felt that my business was not needed to them or worth giving me other options… like cupcakes etc! See ya Pink Ribbon Bakery… totally turned off!

I never ended up ordering from here due to the lack of customer service I received. I was in the neighbourhood and stopped in quickly to ask for a rough estimate about a round fondant cake with minimal design work. I mentioned I did not know what to expect in terms of pricing and was just wondering about a rough estimate. Explained very clearly I was in no way looking for a fixed price right away, just an estimate. I was told to fill out the online form. I guess it’s my fault, I figured it would be better to email the pictures and ideas I had along with my request for a quote and all the necessary information. I eventually got a response telling me to fill out the online form…
I felt completely disrespected and decided that I would give my business to someone more appreciative. I am still very confused as it seems like many people had very similar scenarios. Hopefully the owners read these comments and change there policies. They look like they do amazing work. Most just want to know how much there going to spend before they commit to something.

This is our 2^nd year getting a custom birthday cake from Pink Ribbon. Last year we ordered a «hello kitty» themed birthday cake which was beautifully done and 2 tiered. It was big and beautiful and my daughter loved it! This year was a «ballet» theme, and we decided to go round (like last year) but only 1 level. The cake had a pair of pretty and shiny pink ballet slippers made of fondant on top with laces, and lots of frilly ruffles around the cake. This cake was THE HIT of the party, so many people wanted to know where it was from! I will be going back for more events for sure, can’t wait for more cute creations!

This would have been my first experience with this bakery and usually I try and give as much detail as possible.
I had ordered through the website a cake + 20 cupcakes that would originally serve 15 – 18 people, but later the number of the party had increased to 25 which cost me an extra $ 50 to make the cake «bigger» The customer service was quite nice and were very quick to respond to any concerns or questions I had.
The problems that I had with this bakery was 1) that for the price I had paid which was $ 250 was not worth it for the taste that was supposedly popular «Marble cookies and cream», I can genuinely say that I could have made the cake and cupcakes myself and would have tasted 10x better.
2)when going into the bakery I saw my cake and was automatically horrified that the colors were too light compared to the jersey I had showed in the images sent. And there were was not a single real detail that popped out to make it worth $ 250 worth. When I mentioned to the nice girl that there was actually a letter missing she said «oh my gosh there is! Let me get the baker.» Then the baker came back and she said it’s too long of a word and thats why she couldn’t fit it in so instead she put the letter on the sleeve of the cake which looked like an obvious mistake.
That’s when the front girl said that’s how it has to be. wish they mentioned this to me sooner!
3) what really bothered me through out this whole experience was when I pointed out the obvious mistakes they tried to justify and make me feel dumb about my comments which not only made me feel cheated but ripped off.
Very disappointed and will never recommend this place to my family and friends. The only reason I gave 2 stars (I actually wanted 1.5 but that’s alright) is because the start of my experience with the customer service was good, overall total fail.

The work Pink Ribbon Bakery posts on social media is beautiful and seemed perfect for my upcoming event. I decided to head to their shop to see if her work tasted as delicious as it was beautiful. I purchased a variety of cupcakes and they were very good. Unfortunately the customer service is so strange and poor that I won’t be using them. When I told the sales person that I would like to order a small wedding cake/​cupcakes and would like to discuss my options, her response was: ok, fill out the online form and we will get back to you. Uhmmm but I am standing right here… in person… can’t I just talk to you/​someone. Nope. She repeated to fill out the online form. I said ok, but so if I want to actually speak to someone about my design then… Her response was that I could email pictures. Really… so I can never just talk to a person? I have to sent emails back and forth??? Ya pretty much. Didn’t offer to set up a tasting… nothing. So out of curiosity I did go home and fill out the online form (which is VERY basic and does not touch on design options). 10 days later I have yet to hear from the company. I don’t know how a company does business like this.

I’m so disappointed of this place, I wish I could give them nill rather than one star. the customer service is horrible and be ready to be left without a cake just few days before your event. Obviously the deposit what matters not the customers, if you couldn’t pay the deposit on the time because you cought at work or something urgent happen that day even if you confirmed your order with them and called immediately the next day they will simply leave you without cake. They will not call you or send you anything saying they cancelled your order until you figured out yourself. What a horrible thing being left without the cake few days before the party !! I couldn’t even find another place because it is too late.

My SIL and I visited this bakery last week. The meet and greet with the bakery staff left me completely flabbergasted. I walked in after doing some research about the bakery. I was essentially looking for a birthday cake for my son’s first birthday in October. I explained to her I wasn’t local and needed to organize for my son’s party sooner rather than later. I had an idea of a theme and how many guests (approx. 100). First I noted how standoffish her demeanor was and then she asked if I had «filled out the form», I told her I was from out of town and checking things out. She said «they cannot price anything without a form». I asked if they had a paper form, she said «No, it’s online». I noticed she had a laptop with her I asked if I could use the laptop to fill out the form. She said «No, it’s personal laptop». At this point, I looked at my SIL completely stunned and said «I think it’s best if we go». Unreal how a business operates in such a manner. Please don’t fund this business by purchasing baked goods from them because there are so many other businesses that know how to treat and value their customers that deserve your business. I can only imagine the nightmare I would have faced if I placed an order. Seriously think twice about this business! If the business owner is reading this, please shut your doors now, you should be ashamed of yourself and your mistreatment of customers. I will be sure to tell my extensive network of family/​friends of your shameful behavior. Zero stars!

Wanted a special cake for my sons 16^th birthday and only new of this place for cupcakes. My husband found out on Unilocal that they did cakes and with short notice I sent in a request for the cake I wanted. They seemed as excited as I was about the cake and told me that they should be able to make my timeline. It was a little more expensive than I had thought it would be but my heart was set on this cake and I didn’t have a good plan B so I said go for it and I couldn’t be happier that I did. It was perfect and truly made my sons birthday party. He absolutely loved it and not only did it look fabulous it tasted fabulous. If you want something truly special for your celebration this is the place.

I really want to give this place five stars. Sheila does really exceptional fondant work, and her baking tastes great — but there are some serious issues with communication in dealing with this bakery.
I went in to talk to Sheila almost a year before my May 2014 wedding. Showed her a picture of the cake I wanted, discussed the details, she mentioned an estimated price and said to submit a quote request — which I did. I never actually received a written response to my request — I ended up having to call in weeks later and was told «oh yes, we got the quote request, it will be the amount I said it would be when you came in».
The cake was delivered on time to the wedding and people thought it was very tasty. It was a pretty cake — but it was not the cake I ordered. I was a far plainer cake than what I requested and provided her a sample picture of, and I have never been given any kind of explanation as to why.
The sample picture I gave her was a three tier white fondant cake with an all-​over black damask pattern on the bottom tier, a pearl studded quilt texture on the middle layer, and a wide red stripe on the top layer (and a sugar rose that I said I didn’t want). I mentioned that I wanted a cake like that, but with a bit more bling.
The cake I got was almost entirely white, with three little black damask shapes stenciled on one side of the bottom tier (the cake looked entirely white from the back), rhinestones in a checkerboard pattern on the middle tier (with no quilt texture), and an entirely white top layer — and a cake topper of fresh red roses. Oh, and there were strips of rhinestone ribbon around each tier.
At no point during the processw had we discussed her putting anything on the top tier — and this is what upset me the most as I had custom ordered a stunning rhinestoned monogram cake topper for our cake that ended up mostly hidden by the roses, and like I was trying to fit two cake toppers on the same cake. This was completely not the look I had been dreaming of for our wedding cake. The cake was displayed in the round, and as mentioned earlier, looked completely white from the back — which looked plain and out of place at our vibrant black/​white/​red wedding.
I don’t know why someone who makes wedding cakes would not think to ask a bride if she has a cake topper for a cake.
I have waited almost six months to post this review. I emailed the bakery a couple of months after the wedding to express my disappointment in the cake and was never responded to. Another example of the problems with communication that I had.

Wow… What a mixed bag of reviews.
I had the Pink Ribbon group make X6 same Cakes for a movie shoot. See No Evil 2. These cakes were complicated and ornate. We had to make several changes over the course of the build and this was all done in a timely fashion. I was more than pleased with their work.
The cakes showed up on time. The craftsmanship was excellent and the cakes were extraordinary! Will post a photo after the movie has been released.
Note: Having cakes built can be a very stressful experience. They take a lot of time to make and are truly a labour of love. I will return to Pink Ribbon for future projects as I felt that they did an outstanding job.

Have been slowly trying to make my way through Erin Ireland’s «to die for» list. I think this was the biggest disappointment on the list so far. Dry cupcakes with too sweet icing. Also looking at some of their cakes — some photos are great, others look a little bit homemade/​amateur. Cute shop though but hoping they make some changes

Ordered a Minnie Mouse themed cake for my daughter’s 3 year birthday. The cake was delivered on time, looks awesome, and tastes great! The look on my daughter’s face when she saw that cake was priceless! Thank you for helping us shape such fond memories that our whole family can cherish for the rest of our lives! Highly recommended to anyone looking for a unique and awesome cake for any occasion.

This is the BEST place to get a custom cake made in the lower mainland. The amount of detail that goes into all the cakes is something kind of magic and it’s reasonably priced for what you get. If you just want to have something sweet to snack on, I suggest going down to the store and ordering anything that has the words «maple» and «bacon» in it because it’s going to taste SO GOOD.

Yummy! I think this place has the best cupcakes that I have ever had. They are perfect little cupcakes that aren’t too sweet and the cake is perfectly spongy. They are smaller than what you would expect from another cupcake place (ie: Cupcakes) but they are only $ 2.50 each and well worth it!
They have a host of flavors from chocolate, earl grey, lemon to red velvet!
Very delicious!!!

Beware! They did not deliver my son’s bday cake, even though I booked them 2 months before the party. Ended up getting a last minute cake from Costco. Such an awful customer service! They offered a free cake but when
I tried using it, they said they are fuly booked for 2 months! I will never use them again and spreading the word around. I wasn’t able to fully enjoy my son’s party because of the stress and looking for last minute cake for my son’s 1^st bay/​baptism.
I have all the email correspondence from them to prove it.

My husband and I had Pink Ribbon make our wedding cupcakes for us, as we wanted to stay as local to New West as possible. Holy smokes! We got the three amazing flavours we requested (Choco-​Salted Caramel-​Pretzel, Red Velvet and Fudge with Vanilla icing) plus a handful of a bonus flavour, which I am told was some form of lemon. Our guests were WILD for them! They were so beautifully decorated and they tasted incredible. We definitely had cupcakes the following morning for breakfast. The price, while not rock-​bottom-​low, was still completely reasonable.
It so happened to be our niece’s first birthday the day following, so they also made us a cake for her! It was, and I don’t say this lightly, the best cake that we had ever tasted. SUPER lush, moist chocolate, gorgeous buttercream frosting and the decorations were done in the only fondant I have ever found pleasantly edible! Sheila and her comrade (s) do an incredible job of taking a vague statement about the aesthetics and turning it into a visual masterpiece. Blown away!

Haven’t been inside their shop yet, however, this review is purely based on their participation and sampling at this year’s cupcake throwdown held at Fortune Sound Club. I tried their Banana Crunch and Root Beer which were to die for. I am obsessed with these flavors. Very nice people behind the booth.

I asked pink ribbon bakery for a quote on a cake and cupcakes that I wanted to have made for my daughter’s first birthday. It has been over a week and a half and I still haven’t received a response from the two quote inquires I sent (one email and one website form). I am very disappointed with pink ribbon bakery’s customer service. It shouldn’t take this long to hear back from them.
Ultimately, I have decided to go with another custom cake baker that responds to potential customers inquiries in a more timely manner.

Best cupcakes in the Metro Vancouver Area, Pink Ribbon Bakery not only creates yummy’s for the tummy they also give a percentage of their profits to the Canadian Cancer Society AND on Sun June 24^th 100% of their sales went to Breast Cancer! The owner is enthusiastic, cheerful and innovative! I’m a huge fan and will continue to support this gem of a find!

One of my friends recently had a cake custom made for my housewarming party — it was fantastic! It was a fondant style top — which was customized according to what my friend had asked, which fit perfectly with the theme of my party… but as I’m sure you all know, normally when a cake looks really good (think wedding cakes etc.) it tastes like crap and/​or doesn’t have very fresh ingredients…
To my great surprise and delight, after cutting into the fondant top, the cake underneath was fluffy and light, with fresh strawberries for the filling, and a lovely cream centre layer! One of the best commercially made cakes I’ve had!
