Have gone to this restaurant three times. Food here is good but unfortunately the last time we went my girlfriend’s BBQ pork vermicelli had a medium sized slug crawling around in it. Seeing a live slug in her mostly-eaten dish was one of the biggest WTF moments of both of our lives. They comped my girlfriend’s dish but both of us are disgusted and feel disgusting. We’re never going back to this place again and wanted to share our experience with other potential diners.

Decent Vietnamese food priced on the higher side of things(e.g. sandwiches are $ 5 and most noodle bowls are $ 10). Everything was flavourful and fresh. The meat quality though is a little lacking. Go for: decent Vietnamese food Don’t go for: budget Vietnamese food

Great hidden place in new Westminster. We tried the chicken and spring roll on vermicelli, loved it. Will be back again.

Home of the world’s smallest Banh Mi! I have never seen one so small. Copious amounts of MSG abound. I have been here several times, trying to give the benefit of the doubt. Today my Ice coffee arrived after my meal was finished and it was a combo! I was ready to leave as it arrived. It was a waste and turned out to be a forced sale. I was the only one in the place so no excuses. In the past other memorable things have happened. They have«forgotten» to include«all» the items in my Phở. Seems like they are more concerned with their margin than providing decent service and value. I sit here with dry mouth and very tired after the Pork Banh Mi today. Signs of MSG overload. Won’t be going back. 5 strikes your out! Lots of choice just up the road on Kingsway.

One of my favourite Vietnamese Restaurants in Metro Vancouver. I love their sandwiches but went for lemon grass chicken on rice with a spring roll, little salad and a fried egg. It tasted as wonderful as it looked.

Probably one of the best Vietnamese restaurant this side of the lower mainland. Food is consistently good and home style. Banh mi is tasty and comes in a combo with Vietnamese iced coffee for $ 7. Fillings are substantial, they don’t skimp like many others leaving you with a sandwich that’s mostly bread. Dining room is nothing to write about. In fact, it’s a bit smelly at times and I have to say it’s one fault I overlook because their food is good.

Very solid place for phở in the new west and burnaby area. It is much better than phở Tan or the other one across the street from it in Burnaby. Soup is very flavourful and the pork bun MI is awesome. Only reason not getting 5 stars is they only have one size. Where is the extra large phở? Please give us the option to charge us!

This is my first new west phở experience ce and so far I’m not a fan… at all. We were there for 20 minutes minutes before we got water. The server speaks no English. The place is dirty and the table was wet when we sat down. Very wet. The food was less than mediocre, the shrimp on sugar cane was soggy and wet, the soup was sour smelling and not in a good way and the ice coffee was the worst ice coffee I’ve ever had at a Phở place. I love phở and I won’t ever eat whatever this was. This place made me feel disgusting for having ate there and I NEVER feel that way Please save your money and do not eat here. It’s really not worth it.

There is no doubt that this restaurant, Saigon Ivy, serve delicious food. They have two types of noodles– the dry /crispy ones with some sauce at the bottom of the plate and the«wet/saucy ones which is the rice vermicelli. But you can also get the same taste from other Vietnamese restaurants or Vietnamese fast foods at the mall for lesser price. I don’t like the sanitation and the environment of the restaurant. The entire place is dark, with only the glass window fronting 6th st. in New West. The tables and chairs are dark and sticky. You won’t notice the dirt. There was no ambient lighting. The floors have some food residue. Worst was the server holds the cups where you drink. He has no social skills. It was too late when I noticed his finger nails were dirty. I told him about his finger nails and the fact that he’s holding the cups where you sip. He just smiled. The kitchen is dirty and only one woman works. I can just imagine her doing all things, including handing garbage ad anything pollutant. She came out from the kitchen when there were already very few people and complained to her husband that she’ s been working too hard and was very tired. We spent $ 42.00 but it’s not worth it as I felt sick just thinking I must have eaten in a polluted place.

The soup and noodles were decent, but the well done flank was a bit thick, dry, and tough. I prefer it more thinly sliced. If they can improve on the meat, I would give this place more stars! Other than that, it’s your typical phở place in terms of pricing and service.

I’ve been here twice now and both times the phở was excellent. The broth is really good quality and the beef is tender and tasty. We also ordered lemongrass chicken which was well prepared and flavourful. The service is quick and friendly. Highly recommend this new Vietnamese restaurant in New West!

I asked a friend who lives in New West if she could recommend a Phở restaurant. She said Saigon Ivy was new but good. Good enough for me… or was it? I order rare beef noodle soup. Broth was tasty, sweet and flavourful, but the noodles were bland. I didn’t know you could have good broth and not have the noodles be good too. Also, the noodles were too long! I know, I know the noodles are always long but these were ridiculous. Makes me think that other places maybe break their noodles in to manageable length? Not a lot of meat and not too appetizing. I even found a hair in my soup. There was also a man who worked there who walked around and bussed tables who had a sinus issue. Very unappetizing listening to that. Now that I think about it he brought my food… I won’t be back. Other better joints out there.(Worse joints out there too though!)

Though the pickings are slim this is easily the best vietnamese food in new west. Their vermicelli noodle bowls are always filled with lots of meat. Once I asked for no spring rolls and got so much grilled chicken to compensate that I couldn’t finish it. Seems to be family run and everyone is really nice, been going here since they opened. Restaurant is clean, service is friendly and fast! Takes credit, debit or cash. Door is really hard to open from the outside though so don’t worry — it’s not just you!

Delicious food, good service, good prices. Cant really ask for much else. I normally wouldnt review a Vietnamese place since they are a dime a dozen but this one stands out from the rest.

Saigon Ivy was our(as a threesome) go to place for lunch after a medical appointment earlier this week — we arrived just as it opened at 11am. This was a first time visit to this small, and relatively-new Vietnamese restaurant located on the ‘main drag’ in uptown New Westminster. We had been wanting to try it, finally got the opportunity, and must say, we were delighted with our dining experience. The restaurant is small, with four, fixed, ‘booth-like’(4-place) tables on the one side, and two rows of four(2 – 4 place) tables per each, occupying the rest of the interior space(these tables are not fixed in place, thus, can be moved about somewhat to accommodate ‘groups’ larger than four, and etc.). The restaurant(including washroom) was very clean and tidy. Service of menus, tea, utensils, condiments, and etc., was done from a counter and cabinets at the back, just in front of the kitchen. The kitchen area itself had a curtain hanging over the door, so was mostly out of view to diners. Service to our table was prompt and friendly, and our server very helpful-to-the-cause when it came to ordering. It’s a quite extensive menu, and with us still being novices when it comes to ordering Vietnamese fare, the help was sure appreciated! What we ordered, and shared: — tea(as provided). — appetizers: #12 — deep fried squid, and #13 — deep fried chicken wings. — vermicelli: #35 — spring rolls, bbq minced pork, and grilled chicken, on vermicelli, w/green salad — #36 — grilled slice pork, prawns, and spring roll on vermicelli, w/green salad. A fish-based sauce was provided on the side — a nice touch, as one could then govern how much to use, when/if desired. The servings were rather large, preparations good, and presentations nice, and especially so for the vermicelli dishes, with the fare so colourfully-arranged in large bowls. For daughter and I, the squid was a big hit — it was so well-prepared, tender, flavourful, and tasty, with just enough spice ‘heat’ to bring the taste buds into play! For Mom, the wings were a personal delight! We all really enjoyed the vermicelli dishes — the meats were prepared very nicely, so tender, and tasty, the vermicelli noodles ‘yum’ with flavours from the meats and other ‘fixings’, and the salads so bright, fresh, and crisp! There was very little left on the plates or in the bowls when we finished dining(just a small touch of vermicelli and a couple of wings to bring home) — a «good sign» that we did indeed enjoy our lunch! Our first time dining experience at Saigon Ivy was fun and much-enjoyed — food and presentations were a delight to the senses, and the service very friendly and helpful. More please! I’m sure we will be back soon.

We have now eaten here on 3 different occasions(1 lunch and 2 dinners) and while the first time(dinner of Phở X 2) was good but we thought«had better». This was shortly after they first opened and we gave it another try a few weeks later, for lunch, and ordered their appetizer Chicken Cabbage Salad($ 7.50) and the Viet Sub with BBQ Chicken($ 4.50). These items were quite delicious with the slight exception of the sliced chicken in the salad being a little dry and chewy(but apparently not inedible as it quickly disappeared), a filling lunch for 2 for $ 12 made us wonder why anyone would lineup at Subway or McD’s across the street. Had dinner there the very next night and split that same salad(so fresh and tasty) and #29 — Sliced Meat, Prawns & Egg Noodles in Soup(actually had soup on the side). This time the soup broth was very tasty and comparable to the«better» referred to above. This dish was excellent. Dinner for 2 under $ 20! Family that owns and runs this restaurant are very nice and keep the place clean and tidy. The Father, who was serving us, let us know that they had a «special» — Won Ton Soup that is not yet on the menu. Will give a try for lunch next time.

This is place is a must-try new place in New West. I’d been here a few times. Likes: the chicken sandwich is awesome. Comparable to the Lee Sandwich in Southern Calif. It was $ 4.50. I also had the Bun dish with lemongrass chicken and vegetable spring roll. Very fresh and yummy. Their phở is excellent. The seafood hot and sour phở is highly recommended. The place is cleaner than other Vietnamese restaurants I’d been to. Service was prompt. Don’t like: can’t think of any.

New Phở in New West? Awesome! Let’s give it a shot. Maybe it was an off day, but my banh mi was a little lacking in goodies. DH had the phở and proclaimed that it was A-OK but not as great as the other phở place down the street. Spring roll didn’t feel made in house either. We will definitely be back to give it another shot… would like to see them bring something to the table that differentiates them.

This place opened on March 19, 2015. DH& I came for dinner on Saturday. Most of their items are $ 8.95 They also have some combo items which include a menu item + a smoothie or a bean dessert with coconut milk. However, they aren’t serving smoothies now because they are so busy/the machine isn’t working properly. I had #34 Spring Roll, Pork over vermicelli. DH had the chicken curry. The chicken was served bone-in, large chunks of carrots & potatoes with a mound of steamed rice. They are offering 10% discount as their opening special. It’s run by a Vietnamese family. The son speaks good English. We’ll be back to try the other items.
