Tri-M Plumbing-Drainage

These guys are scam artists.
They were supposed to arrive on Thursday but said an urgent job came up. They rescheduled for Friday but, 2 hours after they were supposed to arrive, said they’d been in a car accident. They rescheduled for Saturday at non-​after hours service prices. However, when they arrived on Saturday morning, they told me of various problems in the unit and said they’d require $ 500 cash before they’d even start work. I promptly kicked them out of my house.
I called a different plumber who arrived on Monday, removed a broken garburator, replaced a pipe and left 45mins later. The total bill was $ 175.

We have been using Tri-​M Plumbing for years, due to a plumbing construction situation that we inherited when we bought our home. We tried two other plumbing companies before we luckily discovered Tri-​M, and they have been working with us regularly in order to stay ahead of any problems. Their customer service on the phone is excellent, and they are always easy to reach when we need them. An issue came up recently that involved sleuthing and eventually digging into our basement floor, and Dustin from Tri-​M was a very knowledgeable and friendly partner. He explained everything to us along the way, he kept everything clean as he worked on the problem, he put up with our dog, and he ultimately gave us a longer-​term fix that we can be happy with.

On the morning of the appointment, they called to say an urgent job had just come in and they’d have to cancel my appointment. OK… sure. Rescheduled it for the following week. I had to arrange to get home early from work for this. I waited for 2 hours and they never showed up. I called, and turned out my appointment was never in their books. ¹⁄₅ for reliability.
1 extra star because at least they pick up calls and call back when they say they would.

Sometimes the honesty of a company is shown when things don’t go right. When a worker did not finish the job satisfactorily (the drain was not completely unblocked, as we found out a week later), Tri-​M promptly and politely dealt with the matter and gave us a full refund. That, at least, tells me that they generally have pride in their work and will stand behind it.
