I have always been very close to my 3 grandparents. I loved listening to their stories and learning how life used to be. But it was their hands that always amazed me. They were strong and fast and skilled.

When an opportunity took me across the country to B.C. and seeing my family regularly was no longer an option, I looked into volunteer work with the Interior Health Authority’s seniors program. If I couldn’t see my own grandparents smile than maybe I could bring a smile to someone else’s grandparent. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had and one that left a deep impression on me.

I continued to be involved with senior’s programs in various cities around North America. That experience prompted me to return to school to complete a program in Health Services Administration, through Dalhousie University.

With this additional education, coupled with our personal and professional experiences, my husband Jonathan and I decided the time had come to bring Ho
