I was in Niagara falls for a couple of hours in the evening and was looking for a typical Canadian restaurant. Use my Unilocal best friend to figure out what was affordable(and open) around the falls and headed for the Flour mill restaurant, but too fancy/expensive for dinner. I finally opted for Il Sorriso Café and pizzeria(the real name) few steps on the street to give it a try. Not as typical as initially intended, but I have to say this is the BEST pizza I have had since 1 year I’m in North America!!! Just like the ones I had in France before leaving. This is real stuff, it smells good and it is owned by real Italian owners(which means you won’t get the same warm welcome and smiles than with American ones so it’s not 5 stars). But you can’t miss it!

A bit off the beaten path with a wonderful selection of thin crust authentic Italian Pizza. If you like the kind of «lotsa dough, no toppings», this place is NOT for you. But if you enjoy REAL pizza from Italy — you HAVE to try this. You don’t pick the toppings, you order by name. Margherita is sauce(red), basil(green), and cheese(white) like the Italian flag. They will put your specified toppings on it if you insist. Live a little, try Il Sorriso! The décor looks like somebody packed up an Italian Café and shipped it to Niagara Falls. The staff is friendly, the service is fast, and they have a cute little patio in front of their place.

Place was suggested to us by the person we rented bikes from for the day. From the outside it looks like a dingy restaurant, but we were pleasantly surpised! This is defintely a place to bring a big family so you can eat on the cheap. Service was good, pizza was good. Great place for lunch.

We found this place by accident as it’s really off the bitten path. This café does feel like it was transported from Italy, which is evident from its ambience and food. We tried Sicilian thin sliced pizza and coffee, both were simply delicious.
