Niagara Falls Marriott Gateway on the Falls

I am really disappointed about the hotel. This is the room that the lights here are without lightbulbs. Water needs to be charged. Wifi is SUPER slow. The restaurant here is really rushing to provide food to customers. Especially the steak is very bad, we ordered medium rare but we were provided medium well. Although the manager took it from the bill, it did ruin our night. Honestly, there are other much better options in Niagara Falls.

Our stay was ok. Not over the moon great but ok. Our room was super dusty but comfortable. We took our kids to swim and I was slightly grossed out by the large ball of hair in the pool and the messy condition the pool room was in. My husband went to take one of our little ones to the bathroom and couldn’t due to the bathroom being disgusting. I think if we were to rebook this would make me not want to again due to cleanliness. The staff was great and friend tho.

Niagara Falls Marriott Gateway on the Falls has got to have the best type of room at Niagara Falls hands down. I can’t speak for the other rooms, but the two story, high ceiling rooms with bedroom lofts are absolutely amazing and the best rooms out of the 3 hotels we stayed in during our stay at Niagara Falls (and the other two didn’t have bad views either).
Upon entering the room will leave you almost speechless.
Rooms have a sofa bed at the bottom which you can turn outward toward the huge window facing the Canadian horseshoe falls. The scenery and setting is unbelievable.
The upstairs loft was nice, and offers another angle of the view outside. Two bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs was a great to have amenity.
I have to say, shaving and number two’ing with Niagara Falls as your view was on my amazing things to do before you die list. If you’ve travelled all this way, this room should be on your must stay at list.

The view alone from this hotel is worth staying here, but on top of that we will definitely be back. My husband I stayed here as a part of our one year wedding anniversary trip, and were not disappointed.
We were greeted by the valet who was very nice, then walked into the lobby — which looks stunning. They did a really great job here with a gift shop, information desk, sitting area, bell hop, starbucks, bar, check in area, and stunning views of the falls.
The gentleman who checked us in was terrific. He had a great attitude, was super friendly, made suggestions for what we should and shouldn’t do while visiting, because of my marriott status he upgraded our room, and gave us vouchers for the breakfast buffet without me having to ask any questions there.
The room was a bit out dated, gold trim and older furniture, but it was a good size, had a fireplace, and the jacuzzi had a stunning view of the falls.
The breakfast buffet was nothing special, it was your usual buffet but the restaurant is really nice and our server was incredibly friendly and attentive — not to mention we were sat next to the window, and is there anything better than enjoying your coffee staring over Niagara Falls?
Checking out was simple, the bell hop held our baggage so we could enjoy more time at the falls but still meet our check out time, and the valet extended us keeping our car for a few extra hours at no additional charge.
All in all after visiting The Falls, I’m sold on the fact that this hotel has the best view and you get your money’s worth when staying here.

Made a reservation at this hotel for labor day weekend. Paid more than $ 300/​night. The lobby and the façade looked great!
The room we booked was a fallsview room and we were pretty happy with the view. However the tub was filthy dirty!
I called the frontdesk and spoke to the manager. She sent a housekeeper to clean the tub. However she told us she couldnt so anything as the tub is too old and other housekeepers must have used some bad chemicals to stain the tub.
I tweeted @marriott and I informed them of whats going on. He said the best he could do was to have the manager call us within 24 – 48 hrs as the hotel is fully bookedz
3 hrs later, I got a call from the manager informing me that the tub was indeed too old but the stain is natural and the tub is okay. She also admitted to me that the whole hotel is due for repairs and the repairs are starting this winter! She didnt offer anything at all.
Guess its just our luck that we booked in this «old» hotel! At this price, we deserve better!
Stay away or choose another hotel!

I am a Marriott a Platinum Elite Marriott member so I know Marriott hotels. This was my first stay in this property and I was very disappointed with this property. The Lobby is very nice and clean but beyond that don’t look too close. The elevators are painfully slow so if you are in a hurry and not on a high floor take the stairs. The room was a nice size but the bathroom was the smallest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel.
I have had nicer rooms for under $ 150.00.

Average hotel at best. Thank goodness we got a «deal» on Hotwire. The concierge was rude, not very knowledgeable and had an agenda to sell their guided tour. Much better to get the adventure pass from Niagara tourism – you save about $ 50 per person.

We stay at a lot of Marriott properties, as my husband travels for business and prefers Marriott. This is a tricky review because I would stay at this property again due to the amazing view of the falls. Also, the location worked well for us. However, there were some significant disappointments with this hotel. First, our room was not thoroughly cleaned prior to the visit (writing on walls of shower visible when shower turned on, there was not a pad of paper or pen, no safe, the window insulation (some type of black material) was smearing down the window, our room was not cleaned the following day (we were out of it 9 – 230), and the concierge lounge was tiny and restrictive (had to eat in the lounge and had vouchers for two).

So I am conflicted, on the one hand, booked, and received, a room with an outstanding view of the falls (Room 2501) which is two bedrooms, three beds, a fireplace, jacuzzi tub and OUTSTANDING view of the falls. On the other hand, I am a Gold member with access to the concierge lounge and for some reason at this property (first time experiencing this) they provided me vouchers for my access. I realize that people likely abuse what is intended to be a member benefit (by bringing extra friends and «family» but still, was taken aback.
On the one hand, the room was comfortable, but yes, the windows (floor to ceiling and a selling point of emphasis) were not «clean» at least you could see the black caulking/​sealant which … I mean not a huge deal; but not what you expect when you are «sold» floor to ceiling windows providing outstanding views of the falls. On the other hand, the room did have a mini fridge which was very useful traveling with the two little ones and grandma; and the decorative fireplace provided nice ambiance at night when looking at the falls.
On the one hand, the location IS literally the last hotel on the left (well, the right) so if you are walking, you are WALKING quite a distance, but on the other hand, the lobby is very inviting, great place to catch a game in the «great room» or the lobby bar and away from the touristy stuff that can sometimes be annoying to be around if you are not feeling touristy.
So why the 3 rating? Because when rated against other Marriott properties I have stayed at, even recently, it could use a little sprucing up. Add some media outlets for one, lose the armoire that most Marriott’s (at least the ones I’ve stayed at) are doing away with. Oh and back tot he lounge. Nice «feel» need more offerings. Granted, the space is more limited than any other lounge I’ve been to, but still sufficient space to offer two, not one, hot items.
Also, no in room safe, room did not have paper or pens and despite leaving the room early and not returning until 3pm the ROOM HAD NOT BEEN REFRESHED. WTF?
Would absolutely recommend this property, but temper your expectations beyond the outstanding view of the falls.

Very nice and clean! We had a great view from the 17^th floor! The breakfast buffet at the restaurant was good too.

As a last second trip my girlfriend and I decided on Niagara Falls. We had a great time but were disappointed by our hotel stay. Our room had 2 queen beds and the first bed had long black hairs… these were not fresh sheets. So we were grossed out and went to the other bed. guess what? More hairs under the covers. The cleanliness of this place is very lacking, and that’s the main thing I want in a night’s stay. I don’t care about bells and whistles, just give me a clean place to stay. I didn’t feel like it was worth the amount paid. Great location and a nice view, but I’ll choose another place next time.
Also, a heads up if you do book this hotel:
there are two Marriots literally around a corner from each other. Gateway is slightly further from Fallsview casino, but still within walking distance.

I ended up at this hotel due to a Travelzoo deal ($ 99 got me a room with a view of the falls, free breakfast, $ 25 off at Milestones which is located in the hotel and some coupons to use at the outlets).
First off I was highly impressed that when I checked in, the staff knew about the deal and had all the coupons right there. Nothing worse than getting a deal from a 3^rd party vendor only when you try to redeem it, they have no clue. The staff are all friendly — every person I ran into had smiles and/​or said hello.
The room we had (we paid a $ 30 upgrade to get the whirlpool tub) was amazing. A great view of the falls, king size bed and lounge area. Loved it!
There is a Starbucks inside the hotel if you need to get your coffee fix on, although our room had a coffee/​tea maker inside.
The Milestones restaurant inside the hotel has great views of the falls so you can eat and relax and enjoy the views. The staff is super friendly here, and even gave us take away cups for the remaining coffee we had (we didn’t ask, they just brought them over)
Without the deal this probably wouldn’t have been where we stayed b/​c I think normally it’s on the expensive side for us, but this deal made it worth it!

I expect more from a hotel in this price range. We were a party of 6 who were in town to celebrate my mother’s 75^th birthday. We booked a 2 room fallsview suite which cost us much more than we had hoped to spend for an overnight stay in Niagara in the middle of winter, but was one of the few rooms we could find that could accommodate 6 people in a single room (without half our party having to sleep on pull-​out sofa-​beds) and having a second bathroom for this many people was definitely a bonus.
Our first impression was that the room seemed nice with a decent view of the falls, although the windows were dirty. Maybe they don’t clean them in the winter? As she started to unpack our suitcase, my wife found some sort of a bug crawling up the outside of the bed in the master bedroom. Staff were quick to apologize when we brought it to their attention and compensated us by taking $ 50 off our bill, moving us to another room and offering us free parking.
As this hotel is not cheap by any means, I would expect free parking anyway, but it seems most of the hotels located near the Fallsview Casino follow the same pay-​for-​parking model, though $ 25 to park in a lot located across the street from the hotel seems rather high to me.
We had dinner reservations, so we didn’t have time to ‘check out’ the new room, rather we dropped our stuff off and headed out for the evening. It was after midnight when we returned to the room only to find that one of the toilets in our room would not refill the reservoir tank when it was flushed. We called the front desk regarding the toilet and were told that the maintenance staff did not work overnight, but that they would have someone come up to fix the toilet at 9am the next morning.
As luck would have it, one of our party was not feeling well and as a result occupied the one working bathroom most of the night and into the morning, meaning that the remaining 5 people had to fill a garbage can with water from the bathtub and pour it into the toilet reservoir to be able to use the toilet in the other (smaller) bathroom.
9am came and went, so did 10am and 11am, but the maintenance staff never showed up. We brought this to the attention of the front desk staff when as we checked out and they offered us another $ 50 off of our bill as compensation.
I truly hope that our stay at the Marriott Gateway On The Falls was simply a run of bad luck and not indicative of the overall quality of this hotel. I have stayed at a number of different Marriott hotels and have never had an experience this bad. As my sister mentioned to the front desk staff as we were checking out, she typically stays at the Courtyard Marriott which is supposed to be a ‘step-​down’ in terms of quality under the Marriott brand, but she and her husband have had nothing but good experiences there and certainly would have expected more from this higher-​end Marriott hotel.

Nice rooms. great views… there’s a milestones in the lobby and a Starbucks… aswell as the casino is steps away… good location clean rooms.

Came there early on a Friday and was surprised by the huge line up for just checking in, with only two people working at the counters. The gentleman that served us was not the greatest. gave off a cold vibe and didn’t make any eye contact with us at any point. He gave us two queen beds instead of the one king we had booked for and quickly informed us that we were also only getting a «city view». First of all, I wouldn’t really call this a view… its nothing but big empty parking lots to look at. Upon inquiring about getting the double queen beds but at least with a falls view, we were told it would cost us $ 40 extra per night. So, we ended up with a viewless double queen beds on the 11^th floor. While checking in, the attendant also asked us if we were parking in their parking lot and informed us that parking is another $ 25 per night (we were staying for 3 nights). What they didn’t tell us… this ridiculous $ 25 isn’t even a flat nightly rate. there are taxes and some «pf» fee each night as well… all in all, we paid $ 90 for JUST parking! The hotels which were right next door and within the vicinity of this hotel were only charging ONE flat charge of between $ 12-​$ 20…which is much more reasonable. You would think that with all these extra charges one would at least get free WiFi. but of course that is not the case. Wifi is another $ 6.95 for only 24hrs.
Another thing which came as a shock to me, this hotel did not have any «Do Not Disturb» door hangers. So, if you plan on having a late night and decide you want to sleep in and relax the next morning. good luck. The housekeeping staff will knock at your door early morning and every hour to try and wake you up. I mean common… take a hint, if we are not opening the door after your fourth attempt, clearly we are trying to sleep and do not require house keeping! Not only that, after her fourth attempt at knocking another member from her staff told her «I think they’re sleeping in there, leave them alone», and they started arguing with one another directly in front of our door… making their conversation perfectly clear.
There were only a couple of redeeming qualities about this hotel:
1. Each floor offered a view of the falls next to the elevators. for those who missed out on a view from your room.
2. Milestones restaurant was great and convenient. The food was delicious and the staff was kind.
Overall, I was highly disappointed with this hotel, especially being a Marriott. I expected so much more. I feel like they try to take extra money from you at every opportunity they get. I mean common its 2015, even cheap motels offer free WiFi! Would not recommend this hotel. Please save your money and use it on the 3star hotels next door which are just as clean, updated, offer great views and still has a close proximity to the falls. Wish I had done the same.

What a great find! I’m glad I did some research and found a Groupon deal to this place. The five of us stayed in one room city view for about $ 100/​night (Sunday and Monday nights)! You can’t beat that in this area, let alone anywhere! Parking is a little steep here ($ 25 plus tax/​day) but so is everything in this area. It was walking distance to a lot of eateries (albeit chain restaurants) but you can also walk to the incline and take the cable car down to a view of the falls. Only about a 15 min. walk. Lovely view of the falls from the hotel. They also gave us some free vouchers to some restaurants and wineries near Niagara on the Lake, which is a 30 min drive but worth it. I loved the icewines! There is something really great about Niagara Falls, and this place helped make our experience better. The entire staff was friendly and courteous. So glad we got so lucky esp since my expectations were low after reading these reviews on Unilocal!
One more little perk — they let you print out your boarding passes in the lobby free of charge.

Great view of the falls if you are on the upper stories– 16 and above.
The king suite fallsview room is spacious with a whirlpool spa tub facing the window overlooking the falls. Before you let out a gasp of amazement– the website makes you think you can enjoy a view of the falls while chilling in the tub. Reality: once you’re seated in the tub, view disappears and your looking out at sky and a glimpse of the river. Just giving you perspective in case you think you’re paying a certain amount for a certain experience.
You can get a great view of the weekend fireworks from your room.
Though the view of the falls is good, you will most likely get a more unobstructed view at the Marriott Fallsview hotel across the street though the rates are higher there.
Overall an ok experience.

The hotel is super quiet. I guess it’s because I went in the winter (March) but it’s a really quiet and cozy space. We were placed on the 12^th floor in their executive suite. The place is amazing! Beautiful king bed, specious washroom and tub and even a fridge to store food.
The view of the falls is also amazing. We stayed for 2 nights for $ 310. Not soo pricey for the room and accommodations.
They don’t have free wifi in the rooms sadly. Only downstairs. $ 14.99 for wifi during the duration of stay. Wifi isn’t stable though.
The staff are really nice and helpful.

I didn’t dislike my stay here but I didn’t love it either. For the price I think the hotel could have stepped up it’s game sorta speak. The cons are:
The rooms are so dry. They need more humidly.
By the window it was chilly.
Are phone didn’t work (they had to replace it)
Are fridge froze all are food because it was broken. The hotel gave us a $ 50 credit for the food but it was still a huge hassle & affect are trip.
They let kids run around the whole hotel. I understand that’s the parents job, but I feel for this group of kids (extremely rude) they should have stepped in.

Not really sure how I feel about this place. They have some good and some bad and the funny thing is, our friend whom also stayed had the exact opposite experience.
We had a city view on the 4^th floor the look onto the roof of the parking lot which was aweful.
They had a falls view on the 3^rd floor with their own patio.
We had 2 very nice comfy queen size beds with nice pillows.
They had 1 queen that had a spring that kept making noises whenever they moved.
They got a voucher for $ 25 off milestones.
We had to ask for it specifically.
They got the correct bill.
We had to ask them to make several corrections like the fact we didn’t have a car and they charged us for parking.
We had a TV that worked
They ha a TV that too a while to connect to every channel.
We had a door that we could hear every conversation outside.
They had a party next door and heard none of it.
So in conclusion, very inconsistant. and don’t bother with the cityview lower floors.
