Super 8 Niagara Falls

Found this place through a Groupon deal for a 2-​night stay (couple) with King bed & hot tub. Walked into the place to find the lobby extremely small & crowded. The front staff was exceptionally great with a friendly attitude, the room was a disaster however. They use a dark red coloured carpet floor type of material that clearly showed it hasn’t been cleaned in awhile. Tub was dirty, being a neat freak I cleaned it twice & there was pubic hair hiding places. Extremely disgusted at this point. Old schooled heater that made so much noise, towels were all worn out from the bleach and usage. Same with bedding & sheets. Nothing felt clean or comfortable. Toilet was crazy small, shower was about the same size. It was a horrible, horrible choice on my part to book at this hotel. Definitely not worth the price I paid for. They added parking & facilities fees on top of that when we arrived. Never again will I visit another super 8.

There’s nothing good to say about this hotel. When we arrived in our room it stank of cigarette smoke even though it was a no smoking room. The room was freezing cold as they had cranked the a/​c to try and cover the smoke smell. The bathroom was gargantuan, but the toilet was in a small nook and I had trouble sitting at it as the wall is right on top of the toilet, and the shower is more like an upright coffin. The hot tub in the room left a white film on our bodies, and the jets are very poorly positioned. One kept spraying directly at my abdomen (which was somewhat painful) despite efforts to reposition it.
There was also a hockey tournament in town the weekend we stayed, and we had to deal with children running the halls and playing hockey in the hallways, banging tennis balls off our room door. Complaints to the front desk did nothing to alleviate the issue. I love children, but they should not be aloud to run around unsupervised like that. There was also underage drinking going on, again with no action taken by the hotel after complaints.
When checking out, the staff was also very rude, doing nothing to try and win repeat business from me and my wife.
This is a 2 or 3 star hotel, not a 4 star as advertised. Do not be duped into spending your money here, it’s not worth it! We will NOT be returning to this hotel, ever.

We booked a couple’s package through Groupon in June 2015, for a stay from Sept. 13 – 15, 2015. Check in was 3pm, but after a short excursion into Buffalo, we arrived at 4pm. We were greeted at the desk by a very nice young woman, but were told our room (King Suite jetted tub) wasn’t ready yet. I was surprised to hear this, because a) we had arrived an hour after check in time, and b) it’s not like they didn’t know we were coming, as this reservation was made 3 months prior. They offered us a queen bed room, but we paid for a king suite, so that’s what I expected. Since our room wasn’t ready, we opted to go out for a bite to eat. They allowed us to store our luggage in a locked room, as it was pouring rain, and lugging them back out to our car wasn’t ideal. Once we returned about an hour later, our room was ready, we were given our keys and vouchers, and proceeded to go upstairs.
The room was large, very spacious. Since we were on the second floor, we ended up right above the indoor pool, and we were met with the smell of chlorine in our room. The bathroom is large as well, double sinks and plenty of counter space. The toilet is in the corner, facing the stand in shower. It’s a very tight space, even for an average sized woman such as myself. My boyfriend had to sit sideways in order to fit. The sink nearest the door doesn’t drain very well, and the lever for the plug is broken– it came right out of the faucet when I pulled it up. Washing yourself in the tiny little shower was difficult. Ladies, if you have any shaving to do, do it in the tub. Nothing will be accomplished in the shower.
Our fridge was unplugged upon arriving. I understand this is probably to conserve energy, however once again, they knew we were coming, so it could have been plugged in an hour before check in, to ensure it was cool. Power outlets in the room are something to be desired. Each side of the bed has a lamp, with the fridge on one side and the clock on the other– both plugs full. We had to charge our phones in the bathroom, or lose function of a lamp, which at nighttime is the only source of light in the room.
Overall cleanliness was fair. I noticed in the hallways a few pieces of paper, wrappers, etc that indicated the hallway had not been swept or vacuumed for the duration of our stay. There was even a pretzel on the floor by the elevators, and it remained there for the 3 days that we stayed, not counting how long it was there beforehand (see photo.) Little things like this ARE noticeable, and do effect opinions and reviews of establishments, particularly where cleanliness is involved.
I strongly dislike the fact that this hotel charges $ 12 a day to park, when most other hotels in the area offer free parking. We were charged a full day of parking, even when we arrived at 4pm to check in, and despite the fact our room wasn’t even ready. Not cool at all, and the concierge did nothing when I mentioned this.
Location was great. Walking distance to basically everything– Restaurants, Clifton Hill, Fallsview Casino. Basically you get a great walking workout with this location. Perhaps less ideal for those with physical ailments, or young children. The only time we used the car was to go to the Butterfly Conservatory.
All in all, I would probably use this hotel again based on cost, location, and room size. I’d definitely make more of a point regarding the parking charges, which are ridiculous, and point out more of the general cleanliness issues I noticed in the main areas of the hotel.

I planned a trip to Niagara Falls with my son and I searched
and found a fantastic deal for a reasonable hotel room rate per night and most nights I had booked the King Jetted Tub Suite deal. The other night I could only book the double bed deal. Each night I stayed, we received food vouchers for the Keg Steakhouse for $ 40 off the meal (Which was the best place we ate at), $ 20 off Outback Steakhouse (Which was another good place we visited), and $ 15 off of IHOP which we ate at one morning (Wasn’t impressed). These vouchers were good for each day of the deal. On top of the deal, we received free passes to a Wine Tasting Tour and a good voucher for the Funzone.
For the hotel, the stay was pleasant. Parking was a pain if you didn’t park early and you were charged a $ 12 fee per night. The outdoor pool was not open. The inside pool however was great, the hot tub even better, and the King Jetted Tub was amazing in our room. Customer service was great when I asked for an extra pillow, they did so with no problem at 1am. Because I had to book 4 separate nights for the deal, they allowed us to stay in our same room instead of having to check out and in again, moving our stuff in and out. They allowed us to stay in the King Jetted Tub Suite for no upgrade cost and upgrade from the double bed room. Each day, there was the parking charge and another $ 6 or so in surcharges, etc but that is to be expected whenever you purchase a room from a third party site. Keep that in mind. Overall, we have nothing to complain about our stay. I always expect the worst and it is great when your expectations are exceeded! Thanks Super 8 for a great stay!

This hotel deserves no stars!
Four of us stayed here July 5^th-​July 9^th, 2015.
From looking at all the positive reviews, we thought we’d give the hotel a try as its prices listed
were very affordable in comparison to the other hotels in the area.
What a disappointment!!!
When we checked in around 3 pm, housekeeping had not made up our two rooms.
The housekeeper instructed us to give her two minutes to make up the rooms.
What the heck can you do in two minutes??? One minute cleaning per room???
The rooms were filthy!!! We made sure to bleach wipe everything and wear slippers when walking around.
I don’t think housekeeping knows what a vacuum is/​or perhaps knows how to use one because obviously, the dirty, and miscellaneous trash particles on the ground stayed on the ground of our rooms the whole duration of our stay. On one of our nights, the housekeeping didn’t get to our rooms until past 8:30 pm!!! By that time we just gave up and grabbed some clean towels.
Our phone, television, mini refrigerator, and alarm clock were unplugged upon our arrival.
It took about a day before the mini refrigerator got cold once plugged in.
There were lipstick marks on our window (see photo) and on our light switch.
The whole duration of our stay, our trash bins were never emptied out once, bed sheets never changed and we had to ask numerous times for clean towels, toilet paper, and soap.
As «guests» I felt like we were inconveniencing the hotel staff by asking for simple necessities you’d expect at any hotel. We were a burden apparerently. All EXCEPT one older female who worked the desk for the early morning shift were extremely rude and extremely fake.
Hotel staff will try to pacify you over the phone, but do nothing about complaints/​requests.
The only positives, I could pull out of this hotel is the location as it’s off the beaten path and $ 30 dinning credit to either Outback, The Keg or TGIF Fridays.
You will get coupons to go to The Golden Griddle Family Restaurant next door, but AVOID AT ALL COSTS unless you like over priced frozen food.
Good luck if you do decide to stay here. Make sure to lower your expectations.

Que dire de plus. Une nuit dans une suite au prix d’une chambre normale! Je né sais pas si nous avons été surclassés parce que l’hôtel était plein ou parce que l’on était français mais quand on a ouvert la porte, les mots nous manquaient! Jacuzzi, lit XXI, salle de bain deux lavabos avec douche… Le bonheur. Le lit était très confortable, rien à redire. Wifi gratuit. Le rêve!

My first experience with super 8 was by far my most unenjoyable experience with a hotel. We booked for 2 nights at 5706 Ferry St, Niagara Falls, ON L2G 1S7 June 30 checking out July 2 2014. We booked in March or April.
Upon arrival, the group of 5 rooms 305, moved to 313, 307, 308, 310, and 311 (10 adults and 2 children) started to check in. We were informed there was a $ 12 per vehicle parking fee an extra $ 58 for our stay. We requested to speak to a manager; an incredibly rude manager came to the desk named Sharon. The person who booked the rooms my brother explained that when booking the rooms there was no notification of a parking fee, he actually provided a conformation e-​mail which did not include this fee. She went to a website
or something similar, which had an asterisk stating additional fees apply. So she was not budging on this fee. On a side note, I noticed a few other hotels in the area offered free parking. Another thing that angers me about this fee, the hotel wasn’t with-​in walking distance and we had to pay more parking fees when we drove closer to the attractions.
After checking in we proceeded to our rooms. One of the rooms 305 smelled of marijuana the couple in that room requested to be moved to a new room and the hotel provided them with a fresh and clean room 313. They turned on the AC and left for the day. Once arriving at night they discovered the AC unit was broken and pumped out hot air for the past 8+ hours. When notifying the front desk once they got back to the room they called down and was told by staff, someone would be right up. They waited 30 minutes, went down, and told that he was the only one working and he hadn’t had a chance to leave the desk yet to come up. He told them there was nothing he could do until maintenance came in the morning. They asked if they could at least have a fan and he said the fans were all locked up they were told there was nothing that could be done except offering a coupon for He did offer them a coupon for TGI Fridays. So they were stuck in Niagara Falls Ontario on June 30 2014 (the outside temperature was 30) in a room disgustingly hot. The next day a repair tech arrived and they were unable to leave the room until the tech was finished. So they were unable to join in on the Canada Day plans our group had made until afternoon because it took that long to finish the repair. What the group didn’t understand was why they needed to be there if hotel cleaning staff are allowed in without us present, if he was an outside contractor than the hotel should have provided personnel with permission to be there without us.
On the same day my brother put up the do not clean sign, however his room was cleaned despite his simple request. When he requested to speak to a manager he was greeted by the same rude manager who became very defensive and would not accept responsibility for the cleaning staff’s actions.
The Above piece is what i sent to Super 8 customer service. The reply i received:
«Thank you for contacting Super 8 Customer Care. On behalf of Super 8, please accept my sincerest apologies for any inconvenience we may have caused you.
As the reservations were not made through our website, 1 – 800 reservation center or directly with the hotel, we recommend you contact the Website or Travel Agency with whom your reservation was originally booked regarding the parking fee.
As for the concerns you sent us regarding the air conditioner and the room cleaning, we would be happy to resolve those concerns with the guests involved directly. Please have them contact us.
Responses such as yours are critical to the success of our hotels and can only assist in ensuring we are truly taking care of our guests. Rest assured your comments are shared with upper management of Super 8.»
They clearly don’t care about customer’s happiness, or retention, so don’t waste your time with this place, i’ll sleep on a park bench before i pay a cent to in ANY Super 8.

It was the Niagara Falls Comic Convention and we needed a place to crash on Saturday. I booked our room through
which was a synch.
Driving up to the hotel, a big «8» logo was easily visible from the road. Drove to the parking lot, parked and walked directly to the reception desk. Lemme tell you what happened next…
The receptionist finished with a customer and after gathering all the paperwork, she was just looking down at the table not checking that I was standing in front of her to be served. It was a good 2 minutes or so. She looked up and not making eye contact says a dead «hello». Umm… a little enthusiasm please? I told her I had a reservation for the night and she asked my name and for my IDs. She gave our room keys, parking tag and when I asked for the Wi-​Fi password, she just wrote it down. She didn’t smile and she continued not to make eye contact with me. What her service showed me was that she hated her job and didn’t care for its customers. One of the worst parts of this service was she didn’t give me any information about the hotel, its facilities, the parking tag, surrounding areas, nothing. Totally was not impressed.
Coming to the room, it was perfectly fine, very spacious. So many positives to this place. It was great to stay here and there was no bad smell. A/​C was working on full blast, decent view of the outside in the small window. Beds were comfortable, washroom was clean, shower was working easily with suitable water temperatures. The only thing that was different was that when we got to the room, the fridge was open and not plugged in. I guess to save energy?
Checking out, the man serving me was decent and gave normal service.
So besides the disappointing customer service at the beginning when we checked in, everything was good and comfortable. I will definitely stay with them in the future.
