Great Mountain Ginseng Farms

We came here during low season in the middle of winter. It’s nice to see something different when most of your day is filled with tours of various vineyards. They offer two different varieties of ginseng, farm raised and wild which was a bit more expensive. Also, the ginseng comes in different forms, so depending on what your culinary needs are, you should be able to find what you need if your recipe calls for ginseng.

You will pay greatly for ancient Chinese and Canadian Ginseng. It’s worth it. A very traditional shop with a modern feel.

Great Mountain Ginseng Farms is a great time out from all these wineries… yes there is ginseng tasting as we entered into the retail area. during the busy season there are more sampling of other ginseng products.

There is also an opportunity for visitor if you are interesting to see how ginseng is grow, different stage of their maturity… Due to the particular soil and weather, Ontario produces the highest quality ginseng in the world. GMGF has be growing ginseng for over 30 years in Ontario.
Ginseng touring and tasting may not be as interesting as visiting a vineyard… but it is quite educational if you want to know a little more about ginseng. and of course you can pick up some products directly at the source!
