Loved my impromptu tour of this Greenhouse, located just behind the Niagara College! Arriving a bit early for my reservations at Benchmark, I asked the parking enforcer about what we can do to kill some time, so he suggested the Brewery/Winery. So while we were looking for those places, we bumped into a very cheerful«Support Staff» for the Greenhouse and welcomed us to check it out! This time of year, there wasn’t a lot to choose from with the exception of different varieties of Poinsettias and quite a few Holiday planters. There were a coupla skids of tropicals, but the main focus were the Poinsettias. Not only is the Nursery part of the classroom, but it also serves as a retail store! Varieties of plants will obviously differ according to the season. Staff member was very pleasant and said quite a few times that we were welcome to visit anytime! :)

This place is pretty Good! All these plants are grown by the students in the Horticultural programs at Niagara College and students they hire for help from other program. I have worked in the Green house in winter and we use to also work on the surrounding grounds of Niagara College in summer. All plant sale revenues are used to support the educational programs at Niagara College. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They also provide good training to help staff not in the Horticultural programs. So do go buy the great plants.

The sun is warm… spring is in the air! But it is a little depressing still to look at the branches and leafless and flowerless plants… I am glad that I drop by the Greenhouse Nursery in Niagara College… all these flowers and herbs. A prelude to spring… I just enjoy my stay by smelling all the herbs and taking some photos… BTW, all these plants that are grown by the students in the Horticultural programs at Niagara College. All plant sale revenues are used to support the educational programs at Niagara College. The plants all looks so healthy and fresh… they are really in good shape and well take care of! I definitely encourage gardeners to pick up some for their own gardens or you can get an indoor plant arrangement as gifts too!
