This place has grown from being a shady convenience store to what it is today — all it took was new owners and lots of renovating to turn it into a lynn valley icon! Go here if you want a good coffee — ice cream on a sunny day as well as good local art.

My dad brought me to The End of the Line and I got to try their cappuccino for the first time. I enjoyed it! It was made just right. I relaxed at their outdoor seating on that nice day. The store has a lot of things to look at while your drink is being made. I want to go back again! It’s like a hidden gem. :)

I’m probably breaking Unilocal rules here, but since my husband doesn’t Unilocal,I’m sending this one out on his behalf. He loves lunch places. Dinner out is not his thing, but a great sandwich and soup with an icy dessert makes him hum till next lunchtime. He loves The End of the Line General Store for their atmosphere and their lunches. He makes a detour to it any time he can find the time and a lame excuse. He keeps saying he’ll take me there but we haven’t been there during open hours yet.

When you are about to break with civilization and hit one of the many Lynn Headwaters trails this summer for a vigourous embrace with nature, be sure to stop at the end of the line and get some provisions for the journey. Morning hikes have me picking up a iced mocha and a trail puck or two, and afternoons mean a tasty gelato or maybe one of their yummy cakes outside on their patio. If I sweat it off later, it doesn’t count. Be careful not to bring your wallet or else you will find yourself buying something cute or interesting in the knick nack section. They have locally made artisan foodstuffs that will call to you, old fashioned candy, and adorable arts n crafts… why just today after my hike around rice lake, I couldn’t help but grab a grizzly bear card, a tiny hug scultpure, and some fake dog doo and a cute fake mustard packet spill. I really need to stop bringing in cash… what is wrong with me?

Fabulous CHEAP hot chocolate! And lots of knick knacks and candy… I found fresh, yummy english toffees at a fair price. I stocked up on black licorice and treacle :)

This place is a real gem in Lynn Valley! Very friendly staff and a warm little nook at the entrance to one of Vancouver’s greatest trail systems. The coffee is great and so are the trail pucks! There’s also a wide selection of gifts, many made by locals.

Definitely a fan of this place, it is a tradition of ours to head there before and after a visit to the canyon! The sandwiches are fantastic, and the trail pucks are definitely something everyone has to try. I pick up a couple before I head out golfing sometimes. The just got in Spirit Bear Coffee and it’s great. They try to feature lots of local companies, which makes me want to go there more often. They have lots of gifts and stuff as well, but its really about the food and atmosphere.

In 1910, the Lynn Valley Street Car line came to an end at the top of Lynn Valley Road, and a small shack offered groceries and refreshments to sightseers and hikers heading out on the trails of Mount Seymour. Nearly 100 years later, The End of the Line General Store continues to serve visitors, including hikers and bikers, though the street car stopped running in 1947(the location is still the end of the line for Lynn Valley bus #228 out of Lonsdale Quay). You’ll find basic grocery items, specialty foods and old-fashioned penny candy. You can sit in the garden patio to savour lattes and old-fashioned ice cream cones from a coffee and deli bar. The store sells local art work, giftware, tablecloths and such clothing as t-shirts that announce you have been to the end of the line. You can even rent a bike at The General Store and go out to explore the nearby trails!
