Thrifty Foods

This is my first time in Thrifty and yes when I saw the name Thrifty, I was in fact thinking of cheap groceries. Yes, I was disappointed to see the price was not what I expected. I have to say they do have lots of organic produce. The produce no doubt are pretty fresh.
But if you don’t care about prices than this place is for you. Unfortunately, as a Vancouverite with lots of expense I cannot not look at prices.
For freshness and options I would give it 5 stars

So overall 3 star. But this is my opinion

A nice supermarket. It’s nearly always clean, and it’s actually nice to just walk around (or am I weird?) Their deli is good, they make some yummy panini’s to order. Generally, the prices are a tad expensive, but they have some really good specials on very often. The produce department is very good and varied and they get some interesting stuff in (although the more ‘interesting’ produce sometimes sits there a bit too long…) but it is expensive compared to other fruit & veg shops in North Van. Much better than the Safeway on Lonsdale though in terms of freshness and variety.
They have a wonderful array of different cheeses from all over the world that I salivate over and wish I could afford.

I had a party to plan and I needed to get some food and beverages for the party. Since I know I was going to pass by the area, I decided to stop by to check out the store and buy my food for the party. I walked around the store and was actually pleased with the quality of the fruits and vegetables and the prices they had on their items. It seemed like it was a mix between a Whole Foods store and a Save-​on-​Foods.
One of the things that I had a hard time deciding was the cheese and the cured meats for my cheese platter. I went up to the deli counter and asked one of the guys about the different cheese, olives and meat. The deli guy was really helpful and knowledgeable about the meat and cheese. He also gave me samples so I can make my decision easier.
The store is well laid out and clean and the stuff are knowledgeable about the items I asked about. (Much better than some supermarkets that claim they are sold out or don’t know because they are either lazy or don’t give a rats ass.)
