I think the prices are good for the most part except for things like salad dressing and eggs… And I just found out the other day that they don’t sell barbecue sauce! Honestly, it’s nicer to shop around good looking men.

I like this place. I switched over after shopping at Persia a few times. The fruits and veggies are always fresh and cheap. Their deli meats are wonderful. I have tried their Tandoori chicken and Chicken Kebab and I was very impressed. The store is clean, organized and tidy. The staff are in general friendly. The con: small store with not enough space to move around. Sometimes it gets busy and there is only one cashier.

«The customer is always right» … there is a reason why this is an old adage in business, and the staff here would be well served to learn it. If you make an honest mistake, own up to it. Don’t lie to your customer to save face. Don’t argue with them. I’ve never seen so much energy put into trying to win over a pricing mistake. First time customer, and last time customer. Disappointed.

Shopping at superstore earlier, a gentleman watching me pick over pomegranates @ $ 1.47 each, informed me that Vanak Market on 19th and Lonsdale had pomegranates on sale for .99 a piece, so decided on my way home to stop off at Vanak for the very first time to check it out. Sure enough the front of their store had large and medium size pomegranates. Mediums were priced at .69 each but there was no price on the large ones. My husband went into the store to enquire on the pricing but the cashier didn’t know. Shortly after, an older man, probably the owner came out with a price tag. We asked him verbally, how much the large pomegranates were and he informed us that they were .99 each, as he proceeded to staple on the price tag of .99 in front of the large pomegranates. We started to bag 10 of these. After some more shopping(about 30 bucks worth) we went to the cashier to check out, and the lady at the till, probably the wife of the owner rung in the pomegranates at 1.50 each. My husband and I both said at the same time, that we were informed that these were .99/each. She looked at us obviously as if we were lying, so we told her the man just outside of the door informed us that these were .99 each. Not believing us, she left us standing at the till, ran outside to have a 1 minute conversation with the man(sounding somewhat annoyed and like we can’t hear her as we’re just inside the door) then came back and told us «no, these are 1.50 each» and medium size ones are .69. My husband was so annoyed and said, fine, keep all your groceries, and proceeded to go outside to confront the man who informed us of the pricing. He had changed the price tag while we were in the store shopping to 2/3.00. When my husband asked him why he had informed us that they were .99 cents each and then changed the price tag after we went to purchase them. He nervously and flatly denied that he told us the price was .99 and that the oranges were .99 cents and argued with us that they were never .99 each. My husbands last comment, «so you lost a sale and a customer for life over $ 5.00, was it worth it?» Obviously they’re not good at math because they can’t get their pricing right plus losing over 30 bucks worth of sales for $ 5.00 and a potential customer for life was not clear to them. Never shop here again, no integrity at all. Stores like this don’t even deserve a business license for pulling crap like this.

Excellent produce store. Cheap but the fruits and veggies won’t spoil 10 minutes after you get home(which I find to be the case with most discount fruit sellers). They are really, really cheap. I feel like I am robbing them, and I love it for that. As far as a meat store goes, they are okay. I just don’t understand the mentality of a store that thinks it can sell halal products alongside pork. Pick one line of business, pork products or halal products. You can’t sell both and expect to do well. I wouldn’t put too much stalk into what the reviewer below has said regarding their halal meat. They have a BCMA certificate so I am sure the meat is halal, I just don’t think it’s intelligent to try and sell halal and pork at the same time. What would give them a 5 for me? Cheaper dry goods and dairy products as well as less of a Persian focus(like 10 kinds of pumpkin seeds and no sunflower seeds for sale).

WARNING! FORALLCUSTOMERSBUYINGHALALMEAT&CHICKENFROMTHERE Vanak’s Meat and Chicken is NOTHALAL, even though it claims they sell Halal. After speaking to the main Halal Meat & Chicken suppliers in Vancouver, they said they don’t sell Vanak any Halal Meat & Chicken. Lastly, a worker there also claimed there there meat & chicken were NOTHALAL. This is wrong and all Muslim customers should know this.

what an underrated produce store! Fresh produce, oranges as sweet as ever, and best part, amazing prices. Corner location, green awning, nice service. These guys put Kin’s Market to shame.
