Do Not Bring Your To This Place Willowdale Animal Hospital they almost cost my pet his life… Sunday Oct 5^th 2015… my Maltese Princey started to vomit and had slight diarrhea I didn’t want to risk waiting until the next day when his regular vet was available so I google an emergency vet in my area. Unfortunately I made a the fateful and regrettable decision and picked Willowdale Animal Hospital located at 256 Sheppard Avenue West… a vet name Horatiu Pertut gave Princey medication his symptoms worst and it was almost fateful… within 4 hours of seeing these people I had to take Princey to another emergency clinic where another vet treated Princey and said I was lucky to bring him as quickly as I did since the medication and treatment he was given at Willowdale Animal Hospital was inappropriate and Princey symptoms got worst and he was starting to experience accelerated dehydration which was not the case before the medication prescribe by the vet at Willowdale Animal Hospital… Within a few days very upset I called and lodged a complaint to Management at Willowdale Animal Hospital to express my concern about the Vet’s lack of knowledge and the fact that after seeing him Princey was worst off.. these people have no idea how to treat a pet during an emergency and they do NOT care about treating your sick pet instead they are interested in selling products including the 6 cans of food, an anxiety calming vest (which they place on Princey in the waiting room for no reason) and the Vet request to hold Princey overnight which he obviously did not need. While they agreed to take back the 6 cans of food because the brand was on the FDA recall list… they have refused to look into my biggest concern which was that the Vet did not know what he was doing and prescribed the appropriate treatment which resulted in Princey symptoms worsen… during my phone conversation with a few different representative It was explained to me a Vet Tech review the treatment and stand behind the treatment… I repeat they said that their Vet Tech oversaw what was done by the actual Vet Horatiu Pertut who clearly had no clue what he was doing… I will be requesting an investigation into this clinic by the Veterinary Board of Ontario… my hope is to have this clinic expose to the public. I hope to have your support if you have visited the Willowdale Animal Hospital located at 256 Sheppard Avenue West please share your experience on any public forums to assist other loving pet owners when they have to make a critical decision in a time of duress on a suitable place to take their pets. And to avoid making the same fateful mistake we did and NOT take their loving pets to this Willowdale Animal Hospital located at 256 Sheppard Avenue West… in closing DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS TO THIS PLACE!!!

Scam. Over reaction compared to our second opinion. Unnecessarily prescribed and utilized expensive medications without consultation.

As one customer pointed out below… AVOID THIS CLINIC IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
My regular vet clinic was out of the pain medicine my cat needed so they called a prescription in to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic (EVR) to tie us over until they could get some in for us. I chose to have it sent to the EVR because of its proximity to me.
My vet clinic charged me $ 55 for 42 doses. The EVR charged me $ 47 for 15 doses. Obviously someone there is really bad with math or they are money suckers that take advantage of concerned pet owners.
On top of that, the medicine was shorted by 1.5 doses. 15 doses would have been just enough to hold us over until the other meds arrived. Now the poor guy is in pain while I waited for the pain meds to arrive from my own vet clinic.
The receptionist says she can’t do anything for me unless I bring my cat in for an examination. YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!
THIS PLACE SUCKS… That’s my story!

We brought our pup here in a Sunday afternoon due to his burst anal abcess. We received prompt treatment. They put in a IV and antibiotics, cleaned and treated the abcess. We came back to pick him up after a few hours. I was satisfied with the service as our regular vet was closed. The only complaint I have is that they charged a ridiculous fee. They charge for every piece of gauze, needle, bandaid, kleenex! It’s crazy, but I guess the end result is that they saved my dogs life. I am truly sorry for the other reviewers who had a horrible experience with their dogs dying… i think the final bill was ~$ 400! It was the first time bringing my dog to this place so I’m not sure how the cost compares to other places.

Find another clinic for emergency care. Had our beloved dog euthanized here a few months ago… He was in the clinic for 1 day. Although these situations are never easy, the clinic should do their best to ensure clients don’t view them as simply a money hungry business. When we think back to the experience, it makes us sadder every time we think about how we were treated, while in such a vulnerable state. The staff were rude, exasperated, and the vet always seemed to be in a rush, didn’t want to answer questions, and did not explain to us that the animal will pass within seconds of the injection, but promised us «time» with the animal. What we didn’t understand was that he meant «time» after our dog was already dead. Who would want that? On top of all that, while we mourned for the loss of our pet in the private room for about 20 minutes, we were interrupted TWICE by a receptionist, asking what color we wanted his urn to be. We had to tell her quite abruptly that we weren’t in the right state of mind to make such trivial decisions. I’m guessing they make commission on those urns and her shift was ending and she didn’t want to get shafted… I know they deal with deaths of animals everyday. But the rest of us, who aren’t desensitized and are dealing with a loved one passing, we needed to be treated with more respect and empathy by the people working at VEC.

Let’s just say, if you can avoid this emergency clinic, please avoid at all cost.
We took our cat in because it was a Sunday night and our veterinarian office was closed, and he seemed to be in a lot of pain. A quick examination was done, and the veterinarian onsite decided X-​ray was necessary. Upon reviewing the X-​ray, it was determined that one of his hind legs was broken, and the other dislocated. The veterinarian suggested to keep the cat overnight at the clinic, and booking a specialist (orthopedist) via my own veterinarian first thing in the morning. The cat was given IV fluid and a blood test was performed.
The next morning, I picked up the cat before 8AM. He still had the IV fluid port attached, and was given no additional pain medications. No instructions were given on how the cat would need to eat, drink or urinate. We ended up booking the specialist appointment in 2 days, so I called back to ask about the removal of the IV fluid port, and also for additional pain medication because he was clearly in a lot of pain again. The receptionist agreed to remove the IV fluid port. However, the shocking part was, the receptionist simply insisted that another examination has to be done in order to prescribe additional pain medications, as there was another veterinarian onsite who has not seen the cat. I insisted that I have all of his medical history, and all he needs is a bit more pain medication — which should have been prescribed in the first place, as it is unlikely to get a specialist appointment immediately. Even with the cat present with full medical history, we were turned down and now he has to be in pain all night because of that. It is simply disgusting that even with an $ 1,000 vet bill (examination, X-​ray, blood test and boarding), the clinic refused to prescribe the additional pain medication just so they can charge another $ 160 for the examination. Would never come back to this place again.

I had brought my dog that had already stopped breathing (whole body limp like a doll with tongue hanging out) for more than 10 minutes. Just to prove to the kids I’ve tried my best we brought the dead dog to this emergency clinic and to my surprise the nurse came back out to tell us that the dog still had a heartbeat and it will be approximately $ 500 for resuscitation. I was willing to pay $ 1000 to bring my dead dog back to life but 2 minutes later they came out to let me know that my dog is beyond help. I had to pay close to $ 500 for my dog to be pronounced deceased by them. This is a place with no compassion and bad business ethics. They wouldn’t even budge on the price but my sorrow overcame my strength to argue. If money is all that they care for then let everyone know and be cautious.

My dog was hit by a car and the people were nice enough to drive me here.
I am extremely upset that no one had asked me whether or not I wanted a paw print done for my dog (as I recently found out that Gateway: cremation for pets: does have this option, because my cat also passed away recently and our family vet had asked me if I was interested in the paw print offered by Gateway: the same place that VEC deals with) and now my baby’s paws and feet are lost forever.
I will never forget how I never got a call back that they had received the ashes the previous day. I had called the night after. Honestly watching my dog get mangled under a car and still lived to scream in pain was the most traumatic thing I have ever experienced and I wanted to know right away when I would have him back!!!
The girl at the front desk was nice enough but the man who dealt with my baby was ice cold but knowledgable.
